BIOS
Cindy Beaton—Gladstone Sister
Cindy is making her debut at The Gladstone. By day she's a high school drama
teacher but at night she gets to perform great roles like Anne in Anne of Green
Gables, Nancy in Oliver with Orpheus and Doris in Same Time Next Year and Mary
in Mauritius with OLT. She received a CCC award for best actor as Judy in Perfect
Wedding and an EODL award for Supporting Actress playing Bernice in Self Help.
Katie Bunting—Voice Actor
The recipient of the 2011 Emerging Artist Award at the Prix Rideau Awards for her
work with The Ottawa Shakespeare Company (Hamlet), a Company of Fools (Antony
and Cleopatra), Plosive Productions (The Importance of Being Ernest and The Shadow)
and Third Wall Theatre (Exit the King), Katie has since worked with many of these
companies again as well as Skeleton Key Theatre, Salamander Theatre, Deluxe Hot
Sauce, Theatre 4.669, and her first French production with L’Atelier. She was most
recently seen last month on the road touring Salamander Theatre’s Where Poppies
Blow. Katie received her bachelor of education from Queen’s University in 2009 and
supply teaches with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
John Cook—Adapter of The Gift of the Magi
John is thrilled to be working again on the radio show with the merry gang at Plosive
Productions. John is the Artistic Director of Tale Wagging Theatre and a member of
the Playwrights Guild of Canada. This summer, a staged reading of his most recent
play, What Are Friends For, was presented at the Shenkman Arts Centre. Next March,
he will be performing in Phoenix Players’ production of Rexy.
Omar Dabaghi-Pacheko—Voice Actor
On daytime television, Omar Dabaghi-Pacheco plays the role of intrepid reporter,
chasing important stories for CBC News Ottawa. In real life, however, he's a
struggling actor trying to schmooze his way into the next gig. Omar has aspired
to be an actor since he was a young man. This is Omar's first foray into live theatre.
If this doesn't propel him into fame and stardom...it's back to the shadows and
dark alleys of the news biz.
Michele Fansett—Gladstone Sister
Michele welcomes any excuse to sing Christmas music, and is delighted to appear
in The Gladstone’s holiday show while her daughter Katie appears at GCTC – feels
like Christmas at our place! Michele keeps busy training standardized patients for
role-playing in medical licensing exams, and will recruit you if she gets the chance.
Michele is also a licensed Wedding Officiant in case you’re getting married. Thanks
go out to her family for their enduring good humour and Merry Christmas to all!
David Gerow—Voice Actor
This is David's second appearance at The Gladstone. He was part of last year's
production of The War of the Worlds. He is currently the voice of CBC Radio News
weekdays on Ottawa Morning.
Mel Grant—Board Operator and ASM
Mel couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of this show and working at The Gladstone.
Just this year, Mel has successfully graduated from Algonquin College in the Theatre
Arts program. Recent works include Assistant Stage Manager for Evolution Theatre's
world première of Young Lady in White, Assistant Stage Manager for SevenThirty and
Plosive's The School for Wives, Plosive's Detroit as Costume Assistant, and The War of
the Worlds as Costume and Makeup Assistant, as well as Assistant Stage Managing.
Mel has thoroughly enjoyed working with many Ottawa performers and crew
members. Big thanks to Teri and David, and special thanks to the cast and crew for
making this production so enjoyable. Break legs!
Robin Guy—Gladstone Sister
After last year’s The War of the Worlds Robin is delighted to resurrect Gladys
Gladstone. Previous work includes Cyrano de Bergerac (Plosive Productions), …
Dr. Fell and A Flea in Her Ear (SevenThirty Productions), As You Like It (Bear & Co.),
and the Capital Cricitcs Circle-nominated Screwtape Letters with 9th Hour. Next
up is the role of Agnes in Marion Bridge, coming to The Gladstone in February.
Offstage, Robin teaches music and theatre, and wrangles two small children, a
collie, and a very patient partner.
Louisa Haché—Stage Manager
Hot off Plosive's recent remount of Billy Bishop Goes to War, Louisa is happy to be back
at The Gladstone for the joyous celebration that is The Radio Show. She couldn't think
of a better group of zany elves with whom to ring in the holiday. Recent Gladstone
Stage Manager credits include Glengarry Glen Ross, Detroit, The War of the Worlds,
Miracle on 34th Street and Death and the Maiden. As always, love to the whole family.
Lori Jean Hodge—Musical Director
It is Lori Jean’s pleasure once again to be the Musical Director for this season’s radio
show, Christmas Classics. A graduate of The Ottawa Theatre School, Lori Jean has a
special love for ensemble theatre and had the great fortune of recently appearing
in 9th Hour’s verbatim theatre production of Grain of Salt (written by Megan PierceyMonafu). Lori Jean would like to offer many thanks to The Gladstone Sisters for their
dedication and hard work and to Plosive once again for this wonderful opportunity.

John Koensgen—Voice Actor
Recent appearances: Butcher (Alberta Theatre Projects); The Burden of Self-Awareness, Circle
Mirror Transformation, Facts, Heroes and Strawberries in January (GCTC); God of Carnage,
Antigone and Blackbird (Third Wall), St. Nicholas (New Theatre of Ottawa), and Educating Rita
(Arts Court). Other recent work: The Net (GCTC), Bison Mystique (la Catapulte); The Taming of the
Shrew, Hamlet and Measure for Measure (St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival); and Noises Off
(Gladstone). Recent directing credits include The Player's Advice to Shakespeare, Dreams of
Whales and all three Extremely Short New Play Festivals (NTO); The Final Twist (Gladstone); and
Brecht on Brecht at uOttawa. John was a member of the new English Theatre Acting Company
at the NAC in its inaugural season, appearing in A Christmas Carol and Mother Courage and Her
Children; he was also in the NAC Acting Company for two seasons in the late ’70s. He has also
been a member of the Stratford Festival Acting Company, appearing in Pentecost, Othello, and
Of Mice and Men. John earned a Capital Critics’ Circle Award for Ensemble Acting for his work
in Heroes and The Audrey Ashley Award for Contribution to the Theatre, and both a 2012 Prix
Rideau Award and a Capital Critics' Circle Award for Outstanding Direction.
Michelle LeBlanc—Voice Actor
A graduate of the Ottawa Theatre School, Michelle’s theatre credits include: The Comedy
of Errors (Bear & Co.), In the Next Room (Same Day); How It Works (Plosive); The Good
Father (SevenThirty); How the Other Half Loves and Noises Off (Gladstone). And this ain’t
her first Radio Show rodeo either: The Radio Show, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Shadow and
The War of the Worlds. Her television/film credits include: Guibord s’en va-t-en guerre
with Oscar nominated director Philippe Falardeau (micro-scope), The Buckley Brothers
(Mistletoe Pictures), Nathalie (NB Thrilling Films), The Best Laid Plans, and Michael:
Tuesdays & Thursdays (CBC). She is an Outstanding Performance nominee (2012) and an
Emerging Artist recipient (2007) at the Prix Rideau Awards. She can be next seen at The
Gladstone in Two in January with fellow actor Richard Gélinas. She would like to extend
warm holiday greetings to The Gladstone audience and staff, and to friends and family.
Jonah Lerner—Sound Design and Live Sound Effects
Jonah is an all around theatre guy who likes to get his hands dirty in all sorts of creative
stuff. His illustrious theatrical endeavors have only recently passed beyond the realm
of acting and into the world of design and development. Previous local performances
include Twistory (Magic Studio Productions) Oleanna (Red Collective), amongst others.
This is his very first Foley Art attempt and he hopes to do it many more times.
Teri Loretto-Valentik—Director
Teri Loretto-Valentik is a founding member of Plosive and has directed several
shows at The Gladstone (Speed the Plow, It's A Wonderful Life). She's as often
seen on The Gladstone stage (Detroit, Shirley Valentine). Teri also teaches in the
theatre, journalism and performing arts programs at Algonquin College and is the
weekend weather person for CBC Ottawa. Her film credits include Metal Tornado
and The Buckley Brothers which won Best Comedy at The Lady Filmmaker's Festival
in Beverly Hills this past year. Her best job, though, is as mom to 2½ year old Uly.
David Magladry—Lighting Design
David Magladry has been a professional Lighting Designer for over 22 years working
in theatre, television, museum exhibitions and special events. His clients include
The Great Canadian Theatre Company, Algonquin College Theatre Department, The
Canadian Museum of Civilization, The Canadian War Museum, CBC, BBC and Rogers
Television. Over the past five years he has added Set Design to his portfolio, now
having designed over 18 theatrical and special event productions. David is Resident
Lighting Designer for John P. Kelly’s SevenThirty Productions, and Resident Lighting
and Set Designer for the Classic Summer Theatre Festival in Perth, Ontario. He as
well was the Resident Lighting Designer and Technical Director for The Gladstone’s
2009/2010 seasons.
David Whiteley—Translator/Adapter of The Little Prince
Gladstone regulars know David's translation work through his rhymed verse
renderings of Molière's The School for Wives and Edmund Rostand's Cyrano de
Bergerac as well as Georges Feydeau's A Flea in Her Ear. Elsewhere, his translations
and adaptations have graced Ottawa's stages with Third Wall Theatre producing his
versions of Molière's The Misanthrope and Tartuffe, and mutatis mutandis producing
his adaptation of Alfred Jarry's Ubu roi as Ubu Rex and Arthur Schnitzler's Reigen
as What Goes Around… David returns to The Gladstone next April as Thomas in
Plosive's production of David Ives' sizzling Venus in Fur!
