Voler - Thieves of Flight, Kansas City's premier aerial fabrics performance troupe, is an edgy experimental collaboration of aerial dance and acrobatics, comprised of various performing artists from the Kansas City area. Our mission is to demonstrate the beauty of movement that is inspired by various acrobatic, athletic, dance and performance backgrounds. We are a fully insured professional performance group who is licensed as part of a certified national insurance organization. Voler performances are built to suit any venue with ceiling height of 12’ and up. We specialize in full performance exhibitions as well as collaborative audio/visual performances with other artists. As special guests, we bring our aerial artistry to benefits, fashion shows, private parties, art openings, variety shows, live concerts and business expos. Ask us about our themed shows! We specialize in circus, burlesque, futuristic, classical and character-based performances and we can customize themes for any event and for all audiences. Booking is available for individual aerialists or for the entire group. Pricing begins at $250 for short pieces/ambient characters and $1500 and up for full-length shows. Voler – Thieves of Flight Aerial Performance Ensemble – 1331 Union Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64101 www.thievesofflight.com (816) 668-6292 [email protected] Voler – Thieves of Flight Performance Ensemble Company Members Hayley Cherveny Beginning her dance training as a young girl training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical dance, Hayley furthered her dance education obtaining a bachelors degree in dance from Kansas State University. During her college training she specialized in Modern dance, performing at many national dance festivals and was asked to have her original choreography adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival. In 2004, Ms. Cherveny had the opportunity to perform in the Czech Republic with the Lynn Barr Dance Theatre as a featured modern dancer. Hayley has also been a company member of the AHA! Dance Theatre in Kansas City and has been commissioned in guest pieces for local and national choreographers. Leslie Davis Leslie has trained and performed as a dancer since her youth. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi as a dance performance and choreography major, performing in the Repertory Company and with Complexity Productions Modern Dance Company. She has also performed as an aerialist with Quixotic Fusion Performance Ensemble. Leslie combines her training in gymnastics, diving, and massage into her creative flow of aerial artistry and she feels a freedom in the free flowing movement of aerial dance. Andee Hindery Andee Hindery is grateful to have began her dance training as a girl with her mentors Cliff Kerwin and Paul Chambers. She went on to complete her degree in dance at the University of Kansas. Andee's been performing in Kansas City since her days in City in Motion's Children's Dance Theatre and more recently with A-Ha! Dance Theatre and Kacico Dance. She's very happy to have taken off with the lovely girls of Voler, and feels quite at home in the air. Rachel McMeachin In a life governed by laws and bound by gravity, Rachel steals away a little piece of flight. Within the performance group Voler - Thieves of Flight, she has found a means to create human performance celebrating strength, fragility and the splendor of playful expression. Specializing in circus skills and performances including bull whip, bed of nails and fire movement, Rachel is also Voler’s lead aerial instructor. Greta Off Ms. Off trained on scholarship at the School of the Hartford Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet School/New School University BFA program in New York City. She performed onstage with The Village People and was a regular performer on MTV’s Direct Effects. She also studied at STEPS on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. Greta has performed as a guest soloist with Madison Ballet Theatre, Etre Art, and Quixotic Fusion. She served as Dance Captain with Jean Ann Ryan Productions onboard the Regent Seven Seas Mariner, also performing Lyra and Spanish Web and was Ballet Director for Pulse Performing Arts Center in Kansas City. Jade Osborne Drawing upon her training in theater, ballet, jazz, latin, tango, modern, capoeira, contact improv, and aerial acrobatics, Jade’ work is a combination of cultural experimentation within bodily forms, structures and movement. Jade has trained and performed with Touch Dance, Big Bang Buffet, Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, UMKC Women’s Center, Quixotic Fusion Performance Ensemble, MarKed, City in Motion, Beribazu Capoeira International and currently as a core performer with Voler, Thieves of Flight. She has performed in national and international productions in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, California, Washington, Brazil, Canada, Jamaica, China, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Nichole Raab Nichole has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, The New Theatre Restaurant, Starlight Theatre's Epic Entertainment, Storling Dance Theatre, The Shoji Tabuchi Show (Branson, MO). Nichole teaches throughout the city and in the past at Missouri Western University. She has studied dance at UMKC, The Ailey School (NY, NY), Project Bandaloop (Oakland, CA), Diavolo (Los Angeles) and other various company workshops throughout the country. She has trained in Tap, Ballet, Point, Jazz, Modern, Floor Tumbling/Acrobatics, Aerial Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Yoga, some Stunt Work and various Martial Arts.
