Parking
HISTORIC DOWNTOWN PARKING FACILITY
The St. Augustine & St. Johns County
Visitor Information Center . . .
Where Every Visit to St. Augustine Should Start
St. Augustine’s Historic Downtown Parking Facility (HDPF), the preferred parking location in the Nation’s Oldest City, is located
adjacent to the St. Augustine & St. Johns County Visitor’s Information Center (VIC) on Castillo Drive just off US 1. There’s no easier
way to start your visit to St. Augustine than at the HDPF & the VIC.
The HDPF and the VIC
The HDPF’s nearly 1,200 parking spaces are available 24 hours a day every day of the year. Convenient to St. George St. and San
Marco Ave. as well as the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, the parking facility offers easy connections to all sightseeing
services.
Helpful information from well informed ambassadors is the keystone of VIC operations. With spacious and clean restrooms, a gift
shop, informational videos, current event and cultural information and rows and rows of brochures and guides, the VIC is the place
every visit to St. Augustine should begin.
Parking at the HDPF is $1.25 per hour with a $7.50 per day maximum. During selected peak days, a flat all-day rate of $7 is payable
on entry to ease exiting for visitors. To confirm parking rates for specific date, call 904.825.1000.
Monthly passes are available for $32 plus tax. For groups of 10 or more the cost may be as low as $25.60 plus tax. Overnight Parking
By permit only, overnight parking of RV’s, tour buses and trailers is available in the lot designated for such vehicles on Riberia Street.
The permits are $26.50 ($25.00 plus $1.50 Sales Tax) and are available at either the VIC or the HDPF. The City is not responsible for
the security or safety of vehicles parked in the lot and camping is not allowed. More Visitor Info
The Visitor Information Center is open 364 days a year, (closed Christmas), from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with special extended hours
during the holidays and summer season. For exact hours, please call 904.825.1000. The City’s Historic Downtown Parking Facility
is open 24/7, but office hours are from 7am to 11 p.m. week days, and 7 a.m. to midnight weekends. To insure availability, call the
parking facility at 904.484.5160.
OTHER PARKING OPTIONS
Self-service, automated parking kiosks now provide parking permits for metered on-street parking and parking in city-owned parking lots. The
kiosks accept bills, coins, credit and debit cards. Metered parking is $1.50 per hour with a two-hour limit on the street and four-hour limit in
the lots. Metered parking is also available at the Castillo de San Marcos at a rate of 25 cents per hour with a two-hour limit. This lot is closed
and locked at 5:30 p.m. For beach goers, parking is available on the beach at Vilano and south of the city of St. Augustine Beach for $7 per day
from March 1 thru Labor Day. Beach parking is free the remainder of the year, but shifting sands and high tides can make driving and parking
treacherous. More information on parking in St. Augustine is available from www.vicparking.com or by calling 904.825.1000.

DESCRIPTION
Organized on January 20, 1887 with 18 charter members, this tan brick sanctuary with its
Norman tower and oval stained glass windows was dedicated on February 2, 1896. Henry
Flagler provided the necessary land as a gift, with two conditions: the congregation had to
erect their house of worship in less than two years and at a cost of not under $10,000, debtfree. The final cost was $14,345.37. The congregation met Flagler’s challenge and was
‘debt-free’. Renovated in 1953, and again in 2003, when, a group of men of the church, led
by retired glass craftsman Dee Tarrant, repaired the original stained
glass windows and

enjoy a dip in the surf near one of several staffed lifeguard towers. Please remember to clean up after yourself and Leave Only Your Footprints.

SEA TURTLE PROTECTION PROGRAM
St. Johns County is home to several species of endangered or threatened sea turtles that arrive every spring and summer to nest along our coastline.
Those of us who live in and visit St. Johns County have a special opportunity and responsibility to protect these magnificent creatures and their
vulnerable nesting and feeding grounds.
BEACH FLAG DESCRIPTION
Green: Low hazard, calm conditions, exercise caution.
Yellow: Medium hazard, moderate surf and/or currents.
Red: High hazard, high surf and/or strong currents.
Red over Red [i.e., two red flags]: Water closed to the public.
Purple: Dangerous marine life.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE CAUGHT IN A RIPTIDE
Step 1: If you are caught in a rip tide, and feel your self being pulled out to sea, try to relax and just stay afloat. The water may pull you a hundred
yards or so out into the ocean. Don’t fight it, and don’t panic.
Step 2: Once you feel the force begin to subside, swim either to your right or to your left, as long as it is parallel to the shore. Rip tides are usually 30
to 100 feet wide.
Step 3: Once you are out of the rip tide, you can swim normally back to shore.
Step 4: If you can’t swim back, then tread water, try to wave a hand and call for help, but definitely try to stay calm.
