The “true” ranch horse has always been a desirable commodity in the West and also
the rest of the equine world. Horses started and used on the ranch have significant advantage over those which are not. They have been exposed to many different situations, terrains, and most importantly, many different jobs. They learn how to travel long
distances in rough country and how to work. Like it has been said, “Wet saddle blankets make good horses.” A “true” ranch horse can, therefore, go to work in many different disciplines. These are the types of horses we intend to sell.
The people who make these horses are also a desirable commodity. To produce this
horse, they must start out looking for what the horse has to offer, and not what they demand of the horse. Striving to work with their horse to make them better, always seeking to find the best in them. Thusly, their horse learns to enjoy life and their work,
making it the best for both of them. These are the people we have invited.

Welcome to the “REAL” Ranch Horse Invitational Sale and Ranch
Horse Competition. On behalf of the Montana Ranch Horse Association, we would like to invite you to join us on April 15-16, in
South Central Montana.
There will be an open ranch horse competition, including
some, but not all of the ranch horses on April 15, starting at 9:00
a.m. Immediately following we will preview the Team Roping
horses.
The Ranch Horse Sale will be held April 16, with a preview of the horses starting at 9 a.m., and the Sale starting at 1:30
p.m. The Young Ranch Horses will be previewed at a walk, trot,
and lope. Most of them will have video to view online as well as
on sale day. The Ranch Horses will preview fresh (unridden that
morning) then be put through many everyday tasks. Our desire is
to have a true showing of what they are.
The horses in this sale are coming from highly respected
cowboys and horse hands from the region. Ranch-bred, ranchraised, and ranch-used, these horses will be the “real deal”. Miles
and miles, and days and days, of punching cows makes a horse
that is ready to go in any direction. In this catalog you will find
horses that will fit most every level of experience. From the weekend cowboy to the fellow who saddles one every morning. Feel
free to call or e-mail us at anytime as well as the consignors. We
will be pleased to answer any questions.
The event will be held at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls
Ranch, Indoor Arena. Located at Hesper Road and 72nd Street
West. Concessions will be available both days. Accommodations
in both Billings and Laurel will be listed below. We recommend

Terms & Conditions
Sale management acts as mediator only. All responsibilities lie strictly between buyers and sellers. Although a pre-sale screening is done by a veterinarian,
Montana Ranch Horse Association LLC makes no guarantee either written or verbal.
However, seller represents the horse entered as in reasonably sound condition with
no known physical defects. Any specific guarantees will be noted on sales receipt
and announced from the sales block. If buyers dissatisfaction is reported before 12
noon Monday, April 18, funds for the sellers account will not be distributed until
buyer and seller agree on settlement, in writing, to Montana Ranch Horse Association. The sale veterinarian will be the only veterinarian to make soundness decisions
in order to obtain a refund. This will only apply to problems pre-existing and not to
those caused to the horse by the buyer after the sale.
Registration papers and transfers will be mailed to the buyer after settlement has cleared the bank. If buyer wants papers sale day, settlement must be in
American currency.
Montana Ranch Horse Association LLC, auctioneer, vet, employees, relatives, or volunteer help assume no responsibility for accidents.
We urge buyers to examine the horses they are interested in before the
sale. All horses will be vet screened for obvious defects or injuries. To the best of our
knowledge the horses are free of disease or defect, unless called at sale time.
Terms of the sale are cash, no exceptions. Personal checks are considered
cash. Drivers license or some other form of identification are required for checks. A
letter of credit may be requested. All payment will be in American currency. Any
buyer who stops payment on a check will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The highest bidder is the buyer. The auctioneer has sole authority to settle any disputes between two or more buyers. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The auctioneer, announcer, and employee or volunteer help act as
agents only for the sellers, but assume no responsibility for either buyer or seller.
Every effort has been made to assure correct information in the catalog.
However, auctioneer, announcer, employees or volunteers will not assume responsibility for errors or omissions. Inspect any horse that interests you to your satisfaction
before you buy. Announced changes in the catalog on sale day take precedence over
printed material. The right to bid or no-sale is reserved to consignors unless otherwise announced at time of sale.

“Dusted Devil” sold by Don Selle.
We bought lot #49 Dusted Devil only knowing how he looked in the ring and that he was one
of Don Selle’s horses. At lot #49 we were nearing the end of the sale and needed a horse to
take home to the ranch for summer cattle drives. We could have tried him out before hand,
but we spent our time with other options. With our trust in the catalog write-up and Don’s reputation, we threw our hand in the air. Luck was on our side as we loaded the gelding in our
trailer. We were very surprised with his “spunk” as we led him out from behind the sale ring.
We worried all the way home that we had purchased this horse in error as our intention was
to buy a horse that everyone on the ranch could ride, including our 10 year old son. We returned home at a late hour and turned “Dusted Devil” in the round pen knowing we could get
on him first thing in the morning. Next morning, the whole house was excited to take a spin.
He had relaxed to his surroundings and was an easy
catch. Everyone took turns as this horse exceeded all
of our expectations. Our son went on to create a
strong bond with the horse which led him take home
grand champion in equitation and the ranch horse
event at our local 4-H fair. We quickly called Don to let
him know that we were thrilled with our purchase. We
appreciated Don’s willingness to answer any of our
questions and his true thrill of knowing how our son
was enjoying his horse.

other horses. Great to shoe, loads & backs out of a trailer &
has had a crupper on. Kicked him out on grass for a few
weeks, he’s the same horse when he comes in every time.
Our two small children have ridden double with us & he
doesn’t bat an eye, though he probably has too much gas
for an inexperienced kid. Slicker broke, blanket broke &
isn’t goosy. Is solid with a lot of years left.
