the small town of Dęblin, home of the Polish Air Force Academy, 99km south
east of the capital Warsaw.

refrigeration plant
Challenges Faced

design team fabricated alterations to deal with the
complexity of the roof and worked with the steel
contractor to implement these modifications. The intricacy
of the roof was also a significant consideration in the design
and manufacture of the refrigeration plant.

The Dęblin store presented its own unique challenges, from
design adjustments to extreme weather conditions.
The refrigeration plant and condenser were positioned on
the roof of the Dęblin store, however, the roof was not
The Polish winter weather and strong winds also made
the positioning of the roof top refrigeration system more
problematic. Manoeuvring large and heavy equipment at
high altitudes in these wintry conditions can often cause
project delays of up to five days. The installation team
had to hire a 60ft crane from a supplier 25km away to
successfully position the plant in the centre of the roof.
Despite these challenges, the project was completed two
days ahead of schedule and the store opened to customers
on 13th December 2012.
