With the posting of the slate with photos to the “Restricted” and “Members Only” sections of the national website, the National Nominating
Committee has now successfully completed the following constitutionally mandated duties: providing to chapters timely notice of vacancies,
requirements, and timelines; receiving recommendations from chapters and members of persons to serve in Grand Chapter offices; and
selecting, for the consideration at the 51st National Convention, candidates for Grand Chapter offices. We now need to carefully manage
and monitor the campaigning process. It is my distinct honor to present this Slate of Candidates which includes photographs and candidate
information to you on behalf of the following members of the 2013 National Nominating Committee:

the national website for additional information. Sorors examine the candidate profiles and their campaign literature which that slated
candidates may send to you and/or your chapter, as they seek your support of their candidacy. Please share the candidate information with
your delegates and send them to 51st National Convention in Washington, DC adequately informed to elect leaders capable of moving our
Sorority forward through the next 100 years.

Response to National President Position Specific Questions
1) Providing administrative guidance and direction to the structure and programming of the Sorority, 2) Coordinating efforts and maintaining unity in the Sorority’s
objectives and programs, 3) Establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, 4) Stimulating and promoting growth and development strategies, 5) Strengthening public
relations and maintaining cooperative relations with other organizations, 6) Stressing team building and leadership management, 7) Utilizing other skills and abilities
that you believe are germane and important to this position.
As National First Vice President, it has been my duty to supervise deliberations of the Scholarship and Standards Committee. During my terms in office, I
directed the development and implementation of new membership intake materials and workshops, Code of Conduct, Chapter Management Handbook,
Regional Officers Manual, and the Scholarship and Standard Members Handbook. In collaboration with the Documents Review and Revisions Task
Force, I lead initiatives to update the membership intake training for trainers’ workshop, revise advisor training materials and workshops; develop new
and more relevant policies, forms, and brochures relative to current issues, and conduct research related projects targeting specific areas of concentration.
As retired Director of Undergraduate Programs and Internship for University of South Florida, the fifth (5th) largest College of Education (COEDU) in
the nation, I was responsible for ensuring the adherence of undergraduate academic programs to state and legislative mandates. I annually conducted
ethics training workshops for approximately 800 interns, student workshops, parent orientations, conflict resolution meetings for interns, and facilitated
school district and community college partners' workshops for those served by the COEDU.
As Chair of Delta's Long Range Planning Task Force; I demonstrated my leadership skills, communication techniques, and organizational capabilities as I
guided the Task Force towards the draft of a strategic plan for the Sorority.
As Southern Regional Director, I conducted conflict management workshops, leadership development workshops; chartered chapters, which included
mediating sessions on chapter boundaries; and facilitated DID workshops on multiple topics.
As a collegiate and alumnae chapter president; I ensured that the chapter developed, maintained, and adhered to established chapter policies,
procedures, and compliance documents.
All of the tasks completed above were accomplished by cultivating positive relationships with Sorority members and external entities and/or agencies.
These relationships were instrumental in guiding and achieving the desired outcomes.
State Your Reason for Seeking This Office
I desire to become National President so that I can continue to serve, lead and empower members of our Sorority.
As National President my goal will be to preserve our Sorority’s rich history, while at the same time ensuring that we fulfill our dual purpose of providing
service to our communities and being catalysts for change.
I envision each soror embracing the tenet that membership is a responsibility, not an entitlement; a concept that is actualized through uncompromised
commitment to service.
The Sorority is a progressive organization; one which should encompass a sound systemic and technological infrastructure, adhere to a strategic direction,
and provide thought leadership for a global society.
My overarching objectives will be to uphold the Sorority’s mission statement and to strengthen the connection between the sisterhood and corporate
aspects of our organization. We can do this by leveraging our vast network, mobilizing our sisterhood, committing to the constructive development of our
members; and remaining mindful of our purpose, ideals, responsibilities and duties.
As a visionary, dedicated and committed leader; I have the fortitude to withstand obstacles that might interfere with the proactive advancement of our
Sorority and to advocate for the principles on which we stand.

Harrisburg YWCA – Board of Directors – Set strategic direction for the programs
at the Harrisburg YWCA which include domestic violence support, sexual assault
counseling, homeless programs, fight against racism and various youth programs.
Additionally, we solicit sponsors for the YWCA.
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet – Board of Directors – Set strategic direction
for the ballet company which is one of the most prestigious ballet companies in
the country. Solicited sponsorships to donate to the ballet company.
Big Boys in Training – Volunteer – Support the mission of the organization as they
work with young male athletes in making them better men.
Electronic Data Systems (EDS) – Education Outreach Coordinator – Developed
relationships between EDS and local school district officials to promote
community involvement and educational opportunities that linked the business
and educational communities.
NAACP – Member – Support the goals and mission of the NAACP.
Susquehanna Township – Commissioner - Legislative and administrative
authority and responsibilities. Fiduciary responsibly for a $10M operating
budget and served as Vice-President of the board for five of the eight years I
served.
National Society of Black Engineers – Member – Support the goals and mission of
the National Society of Black Engineers and working to get more African
American students interested and involved in STEM majors.
Essence of UJIMA – Founder – Provided educational, personal and cultural
development for under privileged girls in the Harrisburg community.

1) As Regional Director and Member, National Scholarship and Standards Committee my responsibilities included interpreting and enforcing both the
Constitution and Bylaws and the established policies and procedures. Professionally, for the State of Pennsylvania I work to establish new policies and
assess and make a determination whether existing policies and procedures should be eliminated.
2) As Regional Director and Member, Scholarship and Standards Committee I served as an arbitrator when disputes arose. In assisting sorors and
chapters to resolve issues I utilized conflict resolution best practices. Professionally, I manage conflict regularly and work for win-win resolutions.
3) I conducted many training sessions within Delta and professionally. I developed or assisted in the development of curriculum, as well as, presented
materials for the following topics: leadership development, Membership Intake training, Regional Officers training, Advisors training and project
management.

4) As Chair, National Membership Services Committee our responsibilities included developing and providing membership programs and services as well
as, advancing and promoting continuous programs for reclamation such as Dolls, Divas and Dears and further enhancing sisterhood month activities.
5) As Regional Director I conducted numerous investigations and recommended disciplinary action and as Member, National Scholarship and Standards
Committee I listened to appeals and made recommendations on further disciplinary action.
6) As Regional Director I was responsible for ensuring all chapters met corporate requirements in order to declare that the chapter was in compliance and
able to proceed with chapter programs for the year. Specifically, as Regional Director I implemented “Operation Excellence - Corporate Accountability”
which resulted in 100% compliance by all chapters in the region.
7) Professional, political and community service roles and responsibilities have provided me with experience in strategic planning and implementation,
training and development, leadership and management, and leading geographically disbursed virtual teams; all integral skills for the position.
Throughout my 25 years of continuous service in the sorority, I have honored my pledge of “Membership in Delta Sigma Theta as a lifetime commitment”
with sincerity and conviction. To serve and offer myself as a leader is a privilege especially when I think about our Founders, past and current leaders, who
have led this organization with humility, honor and distinction. My motivation for seeking the office of National First Vice President is to continue the
legacy of leadership and determination for progressive change driven by the needs of our membership and communities we serve.
My vision for the Sorority is encapsulated by our consistent efforts to fulfill the needs of our membership with the services needed to be wholly energized,
educated and empowered and to serve our communities in need…for such a time as this.
As a dedicated and visionary leader I have demonstrated respect for and willingness to work with collegiate and alumnae sorors. Having served in the
positions of Eastern Regional Director, Southern Regional Representative, Member, National Scholarship and Standards Committee, Advisor and Chapter
President all roles which have greatly contributed to the in-depth knowledge I have of the Sorority’s policies, procedures and programs.

Over the last 12 years, I have had tremendous experience establishing and enforcing policies and procedures in my role as chapter president, as the
North Carolina State Coordinator, serving on Leadership Academy, as a member of Scholarship and Standards and as Regional Director. My initial
experiences with training beyond the chapter level begin as a member of Leadership Academy. During this appointment, I conducted training at the
National Convention in Atlanta and Las Vegas. Additionally, I conducted Membership Intake Training in the South Atlantic, Central, Southwest, and
the Southern Region, as well as Advisor’s Training during my tenure as a Member of Scholarship and Standards. As Regional Director I continued to
train throughout the region.
While serving as South Atlantic Regional Director, a primary responsibility was to evaluate membership and compliance documents. During several
years, over 43 chapters were involved in the membership intake process. Reviewing chapter’s documents and chapter compliance status was a duty of
the Regional Director.
Recommending and implementing decisions on disciplinary actions was the task of Regional Director conducted according to the guidelines of the
Sorority’s documents. As a member of Scholarship and Standard, disciplinary actions decisions were made during each meeting of the committee.
As a University Administrator for over 29 years, supervising 7 top level managers and 22 staff members, I utilize continuous management skills to

Currently I serve as the treasurer, chaplain and custodian of my local chapter. As treasurer I have planned several fundraisers for my local chapter, as
well as completed and submitted all financial documents as required by National. Consistent with our Five Point Programmatic Thrust, many of our
activities have been geared toward Political Awareness and Involvement. We participated in several voter registration drives, designed to register voters
and bring awareness to young people of the power of their vote. I have also worked outside of my chapter, participating in the Pasadena Alumnae
Chapter's Kwanzaa celebration, which served to celebrate and share the traditions and principles of Kwanzaa to Pasadena city residents and youth.

I have participated with the San Fernando Valley Alumnae Chapter's Community Baby Shower, providing unprivileged mothers a chance to have the
baby shower they could not afford to have during the time of their pregnancy. I also participated with the San Fernando Valley Alumnae Chapter in the
Los Angeles Aids Walk and the Los Angeles Revlon Walk for Breast Cancer.
I participated in the Los Angeles County Mock Trial, where students prepared speeches for debates, as well as mock trials. I also give speeches regularly
through my university course work and have taken public speaking and diction classes as part of my university curriculum.

I am very involved with the organization, Hands On Nashville. Hands on
Nashville is an organization that provides opportunities for Nashville residents to
serve the community. Through Hands On Nashville I have put together multiple
events and service opportunities, such as coordinating volunteers for the local
food bank and animal shelters, for my friends and the greater Belmont University
Community.
I was a Resident Assistant at Belmont University, August 2011- May 2012. I was
responsible for managing a floor of 60 plus girls, planning and executing
programs for a 500 plus residence hall community, and responding to crisis
situations.
I am currently a member of Belmont University Pops, a music ensemble with 50
plus people. Within the group I manage smaller subsets and act as a liaison
between the small groups and the higher music leadership.
During this past election year, I volunteered for multiple voter registration
drives, as well as participated in Operation Wake Up and Vote Early with the
Tau Nu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. The event was held to make
young voters aware of their voting rights.

My experience as a resident assistant at Belmont University has propelled me as leader and led me to experiences that have adequately prepared me for
the office of National Second Vice President. As a resident assistant I was responsible for leading, and mentoring my residents, along with enforcing
university policy and planning and executing programs for the residence hall. Even though we were trained on policies and procedures, we had to be able
to use our critical thinking and application skills to be able to quickly make the right decisions in difficult situations. I was one of the youngest on staff
and had to enforce rules and lead students who were my age, or older.

My experience as an RA fully prepared me for the position because similar to the office of National Second Vice President, as an RA I had to be very
knowledgeable of policy and be comfortable enforcing procedures, while still serving as a liaison between the students and the administration and
staff. As an RA, I was responsible for cultivating and maximizing participation in Residence Hall activities, events and groups. Through this
experience, I learned that communication and personal connections were key to gaining the student involvement that was desired. When my residents
felt as if they had a voice and were ensured they had our respect, they were more open and apt to participate in any activity; it was a simple yet
effective lesson that has helped hone my leadership skills and my ability to facilitate engagement. I am confident that the skills I have learned has
prepared me for the position of National Second Vice President.
I am pursuing this office because although I have loved my experience as a member of this illustrious sorority thus far, I feel the lines of communication
between collegiate and the alumnae leadership can be improved through more communication within and between collegiate and alumnae Sorors.
Many young Sorors develop the illusion that the transition to an alumnae chapter will leave them being just an extraneous chapter member with no
voice. If collegiates were more engaged with alumnae chapters before they transition from a collegiate chapter to alumnae, it would increase the
likelihood of them remaining engaged when they become alumnae members. I will work diligently to facilitate more interaction between collegiate and
alumnae chapters. In that regard, I would like to help implement an area on the Members Only Portal specifically designed for collegiates where they
can obtain and report accurate information on news, events and programs other collegiates are involved in and access direct contact to their regional
representatives. This will enhance the link already available and increase engagement because they would be able to obtain information on programs
that were specifically for them and give young Sorors an opportunity to be heard and better supported.

Within Delta, and most recently outside of Delta, I had the opportunity to edit, publish, coordinate, promote, and distribute two hard-covered history
books – both turned around in less than 45 days. Each was a labor of love and demonstrated my information management ability, and my skills to lead a
team to a successful publication.
As the current First Vice-Present of Programming for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Silicon valley, it is my duty to collect, coordinate and
present a comprehensive packet of information to the national office, which accounts for all programs we presented for the year. This 70-plus page report
of varied content accurately provides information on nine months of activities.
I own an award-winning insurance agency. As a 25-year veteran in a highly compliant and regulated industry, it is essential that I receive, maintain and
manage accurate confidential records on individuals, including their personal, medical and financial data. I am currently ser vicing over 2,500 households
and growing.
As the Farwest Regional Director, I provided constant communication to the region with timely electronic newsletters and quarterly regional hard-copy
newsletters. I provided corporate and regional reports that accurately reflected the true accomplishments of the region. All were scheduled and
disseminated on time. In 2007, under my leadership the Farwest region and my chapter hosted the largest regional conference in the history of our region.
Electronic information is one of my strengths. I personally built and created my personal website www.tressawilliams.com over 12 years ago. On a daily
basis, I respond to leads and manage my professional website, www.twilliamsagency.com. I also co-own a web domain business,
www.thewebhookup.com. I am social media savvy and have several thousand followers, fans and connections.
My extensive experience coordinating and training large groups will serve me well as National Secretary.

My Delta experience as the current National Treasurer, member of the National Finance Committee and past Chair of the Internal Audit Committee,
has provided significant opportunities for me to exhibit and execute many of the skills and abilities germane to this office. Those of which include:
• Spearheading the implementation of an online finance reporting tool, yielding the highest ever inclusion of chapters in the annual IRS tax filing,
• Working with our external auditors in preparation of the sorority’s annual audit report, addressing any material or significant findings. A recent
achievement has been the resolution of a past repeated finding and more significantly, obtaining a report of “no findings”; an achievement not seen in
many years; and,
• Introducing and obtaining board approval of a revised Investment Policy Statement, last updated in 2004. Prior experience included the development
of the sorority’s initial investment strategy and guidelines.
Professionally, I have managed corporate finance and accounting functions, worked directly with senior leaders on long-term strategic plans, financial
presentations and communications to the investment community, and created reporting and analysis tools used for decision making. I have led and
managed the budgeting and strategic planning processes, and performed evaluations for capital and expense funding. I have interacted with external
auditors providing analyses and addressing questions regarding the company’s financial statements.

As a result of my tenure on the National Finance Committee, I’ve had the opportunity to develop presentations based on the needs of the sorority, assist
in the development of the sorority’s budget, develop and recommend financial policies and develop financial plans to strengthen the financial base of the
sorority. As part of the committee, I also oversaw and monitored the approved budget of the sorority.
As a past treasurer of the Delta Foundation (DREF), I chaired the finance committee which was responsible for developing and monitoring the
foundation’s budget as well as making financial recommendations and plans to strengthen the organization. I have also chaired the foundation’s
Investment Committee. As the treasurer of the Glen Ellyn Area Alumnae Chapter, I chaired the chapter’s Budget and Finance committee.
Further, I am a member of the Trustee Ministry of St John Baptist Church. This ministry is responsible for the development and monitoring of our
church’s annual budget. Additionally, I have been on the finance committee of other community organizations including the Girl Scouts of Chicago,
Community Mental Health Center, and Rape Victims Advocates.
As an investment manager, I conducted multiple presentations to communicate the pertinent financial and strategic details of investment portfolios to
clients with a wide range of investment knowledge. This is relevant, as the role of the Finance Committee includes developing presentations to
communicate financial policies and procedures to sorors with varying levels of financial experience.
Currently, I develop and maintain financial models to forecast the earnings of my firm. The impact of changes in assumptions on the budget and our
earnings must be communicated internally to our executive management and externally to Wall Street analyst and institutional investors.
I have been blessed with a wealth of financial knowledge and experience as a result of my professional career and the opportunities I have had to serve
our sorority and my community. Commensurate with these blessings, is the responsibility to make a meaningful contribution. I believe that our
illustrious sorority will not prosper unless sorors with relevant experience accept the challenge and take on leadership roles.

enrolled, have faculty write grants instead of sub-contracting, and to decrease expenses we eliminated costly programs. The Board approved the
recommendations which positions LU for future fiscal sustainability.
4) Treasurer, Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation - Board members were charged with presenting ideas to sustain this non-profit after State of
PA budget cuts. We developed a fiscal guide to acquire real estate that allowed the non -profit to maintain its presence in the community.
5) My fiduciary responsibility over the last eight years, as a member of LU’s Board of Trustees, has been to ensure that LU oper ates efficiently,
effectively and fiscally sound. We meet quarterly to review LU’s finances, and my participation allows me to be a fiscally responsible board member.

sorority for another 100 years. As a current member of the National Finance Committee, I have extensive knowledge of how our organization operates
financially. As a banker with expertise in finances and forecasting, my vision as Chair is to always position the sorority to be aware of how financial
markets impact our organization and provide innovative tools to go beyond maintenance. Our sorority is a sisterhood and business, we must run it
accordingly. As Member of Board of Trustees at Lincoln University, I recently chaired both the Presidential Search Committee and Finance Task Force.

In my work environment and the sorority, I strive daily to demonstrate a positive role model to peers, students, and sorority sisters. As a collegiate
chapter advisor, I had the unique opportunity to mentor young sorors and witness their growth beyond the collegiate chapter.
A career in education has required me to design and facilitate learning environments in traditional face -to-face and distance learning settings. I have
conducted technology workshops for teachers, students, and international partners. My Sorority training activities include Membership Intake
Training Workshops and Delta Internal Development Workshops.
I have created assessment criteria that can be easily interpreted and implemented. As a member of the National Technology Task Force, I
contributed to the revisions of the Delta Internet Guidelines and the criteria for the 2006 National Website Competition.
My service as a member of the Columbia (MO) Alumnae Nominating Committee directly relates to the National Nominating Committee in that I
can recognize applicant competencies, accomplishments, and strengths that will benefit specific roles. In my place of employm ent, I evaluate
applicants for doctoral programs, which represents the same type of skills necessary for choosing someone for a specific position.
As Chapter President, I selected sorors for committee chairs and appointed positions. By providing clear goals and expected r esults, sorors were
able to successfully perform in their positions with minimal involvement by me. I tend to provide constant encouragement and constructive
feedback at key benchmarks, which are critical for creating positive relationships. My publications demonstrate ability to strategically present ideas
and research results to the public. Through my professional and Sorority leadership positions, I have become proficient in ti me management,
formulating solutions, delegating while maintaining control, and bringing out the best in others.

Serving as a member of Toastmasters International, a public speaking organization that not only fosters communication but als o leadership

Facilitating and presenting a variety of workshops within Delta has given me an opport unity to expand my public speaking experience. I have
presented workshops on running for office and the nominations process at the local, regional and national level. As a Certifi ed Membership Intake
and Delta Internal Development Trainer, I have conducted workshops on membership intake, sisterhood, and leadership development training to
various collegiate and alumnae chapters within the Eastern Region. As the Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter’s Nominating Chair, I have
conducted presentations on the nomination process and conducted trainings on building a Delta resume and understanding leadership styles.
Working at the General Services Administration (GSA) as a program analyst, I provide monthly training sessions on using infor mation technology
tools that are beneficial to personnel who work from home or at client sites.

New Southwest Toastmasters Club – I currently serve as the Nominating
Committee Chair. I talk to the club members to encourage them to run for office
while providing the benefits of serving as a club officer. Part of my task is to
explain the roles and responsibilities of each office plus the training
requirements once elected to office. As the Chair, I also prepare the slate and
inform the club members of the nominations process.
District 27 Toastmasters International – Elected to Division C Governor with
the primary responsibility of providing leadership to 24 Toastmasters clubs
and managing 6 Area Governors. Planned a fall and spring speech contest, fall
and spring make-up training for 24 clubs, served as an emcee for another
division’s spring contest and attended monthly leadership meetings.
Blacks in Government - I was appointed to serve as the Recording Secretary for
the Benjamin Banneker Chapter of Blacks In Government. As the recording
secretary I take the minutes for the monthly executive board and general body
meetings. I prepare the agenda at the direction of the president and distribute
the minutes to the executive board and general body via email.
University of Virginia Walter N. Ridley Scholarship Fund – Appointed as a
Board Member, Co-Chaired Black Alumni Reunion Weekend Awards Dinner,
solicited recommendations from the Black Alumni Reunion Committee for
categories and award recipients.
White House Volunteer – I currently volunteer for special events held at the
White House. I submit my name to serve as a volunteer and am notified by the
White House Visitor’s Office if I have been selected for a particular event.
Selected as a volunteer for the White House Easter Egg Roll, Summer Event on
the South Lawn and the Fourth of July Celebration.
Hill Oaks Condo Association – Elected by the homeowners to serve as
President of my Homeowners Association. My responsibilities included

liaison to the management company that served the community and

When running for the position of Member, National Finance Committee I spoke before Grand Chapter at the National Convention i n 2006 and

2) I have established, reviewed and monitored compliance programs at financial companies. These reviews consisted of conducting interviews,

4) As Chair of the NMAC Audit Committee I motivated my audit team by constructing the audit plan and breaking down the required assignments
into small segments which could be completed relatively quickly.
5) I conducted audits of retailers in Bermuda as well as internal audits of saving banks. Both types of audits required that the audit work be
documented and results analyzed before an audit opinion could be rendered. This required developing a n audit plan, reviewing a representative
sample of documents, analyzing the documents and assessing the process under review based on the results of my analysis.
6) I have been using all of the MS Office products since 1992 for work, Delta and personal projects.
7) I am currently a tenure – track Accounting Professor teaching 5 accounting courses one of which is Auditing. Therefore I can present effectively
on the topic of Auditing in a manner which is easily understood. I have also been a member of Toa stmasters for over 7 years having served 2 terms
as President.
As a collegiate planning on a career in accounting I became interested in sorority finances due to an incident which occurred with my chapter’s dues.
This interest stayed with me as I pursued my profession as an external auditor. Shortly after receiving my MBA I was appointe d to the Economic
Advisory Council by Soror Maxwell Roddy. Over the years I would assiduously read the financial information provid ed by the National Treasurers
and I began to notice that the information that Grand chapter received was inconsistent in format, content and usability. In plain language, the
information was not really useful for analysis. My feeling was and remains that Grand Chapter is entitled to timely, useful and relevant information
as per our Constitution & By-Laws. My concerns led me to run for Member, National Finance Committee in 2006. However, I still have many of the
same questions and concerns that I started out with. My vision is twofold – 1) Provide Grand Chapter with relevant and timely information in a
format that is easily understandable and 2) Lay a foundation of internal controls, compliance and accountability to ensure th at the sorority is able to
celebrate its Tri-centennial in 2113.

I am an experienced and effective communicator and presenter. My Delta experience includes delivering an annual budget traini ng presentation to my

procedures that ensure consistency for all committees, 4) Making sound financial recommendations, 5) Conducting financial wor kshops and assisting chapters in

1) As Co-Chair of Finance, I led the effort to develop the Chapter’s Investment Plan and Policy. Additionally, it is within my role to develop the
budgets for several line items of our Operating and Scholarship budgets and recommend future spending trends.
2) I have served as Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Co-Chair of Finance and was directly responsible for monitoring, reporting on, and
reallocating budget dollars. I created the process and forms that the chapter uses to present the budget and its supplements, as well as for reporting
on budget vs. actual expenses.
3) I have worked on the effort to develop financial procedures for the Federal City Public Service Foundatio n in its interaction with the Chapter on
joint Fundraisers. Also, I have developed many of the current Chapter Fiscal Policies and Procedures, as well as Annual Finan cial Procedures for
Executive Board members when submitting vouchers, settling advances, etc.
4) As Treasurer, I developed the Chapter’s credit card policy and have continued to work on tweaking it as technology has evolve d. I have made
recommendations for the bank accounts and the transfer of funds between those accounts for the Chapter. As Co-Chair of Finance, I recommend
investment levels, and likewise coordinate monitoring them with the Chapter's Financial Planner.
5) As Co-Chair of Finance, I conduct financial workshops for new chapter members and the Executive Board. I also work with th e various
committee chairs and officers to develop the chapter’s budget. I have conducted analysis and developed detailed projections f or the Sources of
Revenues used in current year and upcoming years’ budget cycles.
6) Additionally, I am detail oriented, organized and I understand how to work with others to accomplish goals and measure outcomes. I am able to
interact effectively in group settings, in written form and verbally.

My love for Delta is only matched by my love to work for Delta! Over the years, it is this love that has propelled me to remain committed and I
know that I have the capacity to contribute even more. I am inspired, but yet humbled, by the possibility of leadership on ye t another level in our

Response to Collegiate Member, National Nominating Committee Position Specific Questions
1) Encouraging others to assume leadership roles, 2) Conducting leadership training sessions, 3) Developing procedures to objectively screen applications,
4) Evaluating recommendations and qualifications for leadership roles, 5) Serving as a contributing member of a selection tea m/committee, 6) Utilizing other
skills and abilities that you believe are germane and important to this position.
My academic and professional experiences in college have shaped many of my interactions with others. Many of my opportunities resulted from
others encouraging me to challenge myself and take on leadership roles and more responsibilities. Because of this, I always persuade others to
challenge themselves. After Sophomore year, my last task as The George Washington University Black Women’s Forum was to help create the
executive board for the following year. My task included editing the applications for the positions, creating application due dates, and arrangin g
interviews for each of the seven positions. There were many girls I spoke to who were afraid to send in applications who I to ld that growth does not
come from comfort. In order to advance in life and as a person you have to assume new roles and continually challenge yoursel f to do more and do
better.
As a student in the George Washington University School of Business, the majority of my coursework requires me to work in assigned groups, which
has taught me a lot about how to work well with others. I have learned that although people may not have the same strengths, they can contribute
their strengths equally to benefit the group. However, when a group member fails to do the task that is asked of them it can negatively impact the
group as a whole. Being that there have been many times where I had a group member who did not contribute to the group, I hav e also taken the
initiative to do my work in a timely fashion as to not hurt the group. Working in groups has also helped me to see the importance of settin g timelines
to prevent projects from being rushed and put together poorly. I believe preparation is important for the success of an event.

In my few months as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, I have felt such overwhelming love and support from other Sorors and
could not be more proud to call myself a Delta. Being a member of this organization has been nothing short of a humbling experience. I would lik e
to be a part of this committee because I am devoted to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and want to give back in anyway that I can. Countless Sorors
have reached out to help me develop as a person. Seeking office is a way for me to have an opportunity to be an active part o f the Sorority on a
National level. Now that we have entered our Centennial year, my vision for the sorority is for it to continue to inspire, both those who are apart of
it and those who are not. I appreciate the relationships that Sorors and local chapters have with their community and my visi on is to strengthen that
relationship and continue making the name of our organization a household name. I would also like for collegiate chapters to have a stronger
presence in their local communities.

Membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be a lifelong experience for me. As a member of this wonderful sisterhood that is committed to
public service, I have gained a wealth of experience especially by providing service to my University.
I am a political science major and the Political Awareness and Involvement of the Five Point Program Thrust allowed me to gain a tremendous
amount of leadership and responsibilities. As the Social Action Chairperson I had the opportunity to inform the Prairie View A&M University
student body about the 2012 General Election, to include the presidential race to local county races.

The Social Action committee held the first campus wide program V.I.C.T.O.R.Y which had over 300 students in attendance, voter registration, SGA
“No Vote, No Voice Campaign, Delta Red Army Rally, and the University Election Watch Party.
A great accomplishment for our chapter and a personal triumph for me was the “No Vote, No Voice” photo of Eta Beta. The photo w ent viral with
266 shares and over 500 likes. Ultimately the message appeared on the Delta’s National Website, Twitter and Faceboo k page. This was the first time
in our chapter’s history to be recognized in such a capacity.
Our prevalent program of the year was the Election Watch Party where we hosted the entire university¸ which had approximately 1,000 faculty and
students. This non-partisan event allowed Eta Beta to showcase the commitment to uplifting and empowering our communities.
“What we say is important... for in most cases the mouth speaks what the heart is full of” - Jim Beggs. Public speaking is an endeavor that I have
enjoyed since 12 years old, when I gave my first presentation at a teacher state conference in Austin, TX. My passions eventu ally lead me to become
a part of my high school Debate team and Poetry Interpretation team. I was honored to place first at several UIL forensic.
Outside of school, I have been a speaker at church, school board meeting, and scholarship banquets. The door of opportunities has also presented
itself to introduce several prominent individuals. As a participant of the Texas Youth Summit, it aided me in advocating and educating Texas State
Representatives and Senators about making Texas a smoke-free state. Last summer, I was a member of the NEW Leadership Texas, a week-long
program that helps engage college women into a career in politics. I had the privilege to introducing Christi Hoppe and Dr. Terry Merritt, who have
worked with many eminent political figures, such as Anne Richardson and Hillary Clinton. My latest occasion for public speaki ng was a participant
on the Online Radio Show Cheryl’s World with host Debra Brown-Sturn to discuss college students and the 2012 election.
In conclusion, I am inspired to continue public speaking by the words of Dr. Mardy Gorthe , “Words have incredible power. The y can make
people’s hearts soar, or they can make people’s hears sore”.

Our purpose in life is to be servants of God and one another; however there are different paths of servitude for us to take. My path is to give a voice
to those who do not speak for themselves. In high school as the Senior Class President, I served on a board to hire a new librari an. This opportunity
allowed me to review and meet each candidate for the job and ultimately select the new librarian. I feel like I would be a great assess to the National
Nominating Committee because I know how to select the best candidates that will be great leaders who give a voice to the Soro rs throughout the
nation and to the community we serve. As a collegiate I believe that I have good judgment of character; and, know how to listen to my fellow
Collegiate and Alumnae Sorors. I will be able to voice their opinions to help create a slate of candidates that are strong, p assionate, articulate, and
know how to represent Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at all times. To be the collegiate member of the National Nominating Committee will
provide me with an opportunity enhance my skills related to a career goal and passion of becoming a political activist and ev entually a stand out
member of the U.S Senate. One of my role models, the late Barbara Jordon stated “Let each person do his or her part. If one citize n is unwilling to
participate, all of us are going to suffer. For the American idea, though it is shared by all of us, is realized in each one of us.”

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization that serves our public, which in turn helps our country face many issues. Although there are
many great women in our sisterhood that has expanded knowledge and experience about the sorority, and its processes, I believe there are many
details that will require the voice of a political science major representing my collegiate sorors. My broad list of voluntee rism and commitment to
the goals and requirements of the sorority will help to effectively assess the qualifications of proposed nominees for office rs of Delta.
As leaders, and we are all leaders, we must act with the Delta spirit that has brought our sisterhood to n ew vistas. We have a moral imperative to
lead our organization to be better for our community that does not sacrifice excellence and dignity.
As a member of Delta I can accept this challenge and make a glorious contribution. As a member of the nominating committee I will be considering
the leadership qualities of candidates that, among others, will have the ability to discern and the courage to represent Delt a Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc. These are reasons I desire to seek the office of National Nominating Committee, Collegiate Member.
