EAA Chapter 1373 Montrose, Colorado
65 708 p1 JUNE 08 EAA 1373 MEETING EAA Chapter 1373 MONTROSE, CO * MYJ * THE X CHAPTER July 2008 Don can’t believe it! Jan’s muffins go fast! Motorcycle parking! Top left, Franklin 165 original metal cowling, top center, Continental O470 fiberglass cowling, top right, O470 conversion with STC, bottom row, 1948 Stinson 108-3 parts The June meeting at Ron & Ric’s shop north of Cedaredge was well attended and a grand time had by all. Aeronautical Oddities played on a VCR while Ron gave a tour of the inverted fuselage of the 1948 Stinson. “We are building it inverted because we intend to fly it that way,” said Ron after way too much coffee. With airplane parts on the floor, wall, as well as in the rafters, no better place for an EAA meeting exists. Pres Manary conducted his usually well run affair, and with Jan’s incredible muffins devoured, the meeting broke up. 33rd Annual Stinson Flyin Columbia, CA June 18-20, 2008 Ron & Ric’s most excellent adventure to Columbia, California Ron’s best side Ron’s other side via Carson City, Nevada to visit the World’s Greatest Mom, old Sister, and a scenic aerial tour of Lake Tahoe. Columbia (O22) sports a grass strip with an adjacent state park for camping. LIFE IS GOOD! Chapter 1373 owe Bill Patterson a great deal of thanks. He has served as our Young Eagle Coordinator for a long time - well actually longer than our chapter has existed. Under his watch hundreds of kids in this valley have experienced the joy of flight for the first time. For many that first flight was just akin to a carnival ride but for a few it was a life altering experience. We and they thank you Bill! Bill has asked that we find someone to assume the Young Eagle Coordinator responsibilities and that spotlights another member who graciously volunteered to be our Young Eagle Coordinator. Thanks for stepping forward Scott Morse! I think that we are seeing a trend in chapter member projects toward the lighter machines. It has been awhile since our meeting focused on this segment of aircraft so our past president, Jamie, has volunteered (there’s that “V” word again) to host our July meeting and talk about his Trike and probably most any related subject you want to ask him about. See you all Saturday, July 12th at Jamie and Bill Rules’ hangar, Northfork Valley Airport, Paonia. Anyone who will be driving to the meeting PLEASE bring a chair. Thank you! Good flying, gladeparkbearhawk.com Linda Hartter has her late husband’s Bearhawk for sale, as well as their Glade Park property with runway. Please pass info along to help our EAA family member get a fair price for this project. I am told the workmanship is excellent. Jeff has flown the plane and may have some comments for anyone interested. Linda 970-256-1832 Cell 970-2164684 Jeff 970-255-9334 (stock picture, not actual plane) The three worst things to hear Lady, you want me to answer you if this old airplane is safe to fly? Just how in the world in the cockpit: do you think it got to be this old? The second officer says, "Uh Oh !" The first officer says, "I have an idea!" The captain say, "Hey, watch this!" Leader, bandits at 2 o’clock! Roger; it’s only 1:30 now—what’ll I do ‘til then?— The Bill Waterson comic character Calvin, of 'Cavin and Hobbes.' fame. Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet air intakes EAA Chapter 1373 C/O Merle “Ric” Lynch 19201 HWY 65 Cedaredge, CO 81413 Skyhawk II, meet Caravan 1 Hot takeoff! Transient Parking Pilot Tip from Art: It's much better to break ground and head into the wind than the other way around. Also from Art: The new FAA motto: We're not happy until you're not happy. BIGFOOT SIGHTED IN TONOPAH, NV Do you have a sighting to share with our members? Email pictures and print to [email protected] to share the ride. This beefed up, modified, big footed C-182 was parked at the ramp at TPH. The active airport had numerous gliders as well as fire fighting aircraft, fixed wings as well as those ugly things the ground repels.
