Tishomingo County Update
Job Fair.
The Northeast
Mississippi WIN JOB FAIR is
scheduled for Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Crossroads Arena at 2800 Harper
Road in Corinth. The job fair
will be open from 9 AM to 2 PM
and is free to job applicants.

the employers who have registered to attend the job fair.
Radiant Skin Care Clinic. A ribbon cutting was held on July
23 for a new advanced skin care clinic in Iuka. The clinic offers microdermabrasion, chemical peels, permanent cosmetics, spa facials, and acne treatments. The clinic is located at

NUCOR purchases Skyline
Steel. NUCOR has purchased
Skyline Steel. The $605 million purchase includes the Iuka/
Yellow Creek Port plant that
operates the largest spiral weld
machine in North America and
produces 14” to 120” OD spiral
welded pipe for markets worldwide. The Iuka plant was built
in 2006 at a cost of over $17
million plus over $2 million in infrastructure grants and loans.

ERSHIGS WINS NEW CONTRACT. ERSHIGS recently
started building composite
tanks to be shipped to the
oil and gas industry for their
sister company BELCO,
Inc., based out of Houston,
Texas. ERSHIGS manufactures some of the largest
composite structures in the
world. Composite structures
weigh less than steel yet are
stronger. The company leases five buildings at Tri-State
Commerce Park, including
a new building with 60 foot
ceiling height. ERSHIGS will
be hiring additional workers.

Company Opens. Jeff and
Candace Mahan have opened
Southern Candle & Gift Company in Tishomingo.
The
business offers hand made
candles and soaps, local
arts and crafts and, other gift
ideas. Formerly Tishomingo
Candle Company, the business is located at 1299 Main

Belmont Wrecker Service
Opens. Owners Bill and Denise Timbes expanded their
wrecker service to Belmont.
The Timbes family also has
wrecker service in Burnsville
and Iuka. The 24-hour auto
and semi-truck wrecker service is located at 449 Second
Street, telephone number 662454-9222. Belmont Wrecker
also offers unlock service for
vehicles.
Start Your Own Business. The Small Business Development Center
(SBDC) offers free individual and private counseling services to businesses and individuals who want to start a business. The Corinth office is not staffed right now so the best contacts are Charles Killebrew
at the Tupelo Renasant Center for Ideas, Tuesdays and Thursdays,
phone 662-680-6988, or James Carden at the SBDC at UM in Oxford,
Monday thru Friday, phone 800-725-7232. The SBDC web site at
www.mssbdc.org offers valuable information for individuals wanting
to start a business, existing businesses, inventors, exporters, and others. The web site has a number of online training courses free of
charge.

Cadence Bank
$90,000 Grant. Local officials gathered for a presentation of a $90,000 grant to District 4 for the acquisition of industrial property. The former Bonds Asphalt Plant site consists of approximately 43 acres on Highway 25 north of
Tishomingo. District 4 Supervisor Steve Thorne said that “we appreciate the assistance of Tombigbee River Valley
Water Management District in funding this important project. This industrial site has major utilities on site including
a high pressure natural gas line.”
Tombigbee River Valley Water Management District Executive Director stated that “the Tombigbee River Valley Water Management District (TRVWMD) and its 12 county membership benefits from an “Economic Development Trust”
established to help the Tombigbee Basin. It is not funded by any local tax but it does benefit and assist the local
economy in many ways.”
Representative Bubba Carpenter reported that “the trust funds come from private sources and no tax dollars are involved. We hope that this grant will eventually lead to job creation in District 4 of Tishomingo County.”
Kudzu Kollection Consignment Boutique Opens. Allison
Sewell has opened her second business in the Burnsville Shopping Center. The business offers top quality consigment items
such as furniture, ladies & children’s clothing, art, toys, books,
and lots of other items. Kudzu Kollection is located in the Burnsville Shopping Center next door to Bonnie Blue Antiques. The
hours are 10 AM to 5 PM Monday thru Friday, 9AM to 5 PM

Shop at Home Guide is ready for review. The
guide will always require updates and we request

Special Events. Several special events are scheduled that may bring visitors to Tishomingo County, including business and industry owners and managers.
Whether it is right or wrong and whether we like it or not, visitors to Tishomingo County
judge us by community appearance. Litter along streets and highways, junked vehicles,
and dilapidated buildings are indicative of citizens who do not care about their community.
