I made a lot of friends from around the world and adapt easily to the environment. I’m fortunate to have made good friends who are always there for me – we study, laugh and cry together. Through the various events organised on campus, I get to know more about people of different cultures. Apart from the diverse connections, I also get to enhance my soft skills. Life in UCSI is not just about studying. We are given the opportunities to enhance our communication skills, leadership skills and work-life balance among others. My life experience in UCSI is very meaningful and I will cherish it forever.” Budi Sutrisno [Alumni] BA (Hons) Mass Communication Riau, Indonesia PT. Megawatt Asia / Project Director of Indonesia Yacht Show “UCSI has not only offered me education but it plays a very important role in my personal growth and career development with the confidence to achieve anything that it gave me throughout my studies. It taught me that nothing is impossible, as students are encouraged to take part in event organising, which prepares us for challenges of any kind and our future employment endeavours. I was involved in the Student Council Board and the experience equip me with skills that I lack of – being more organised is one of many, thanks to the club supervisors. Much is to be said about the Co-Op programme. It certainly helped me and my peers understand better, what is required of us in the career path that we looked for. And UCSI is a multicultural university. I find myself understanding more about different cultures and people. As a result, I have become more knowledgeable and understanding of people and their backgrounds.” Joko Logis [Alumni] BSc (Hons) Biotechnology MSc Applied Sciences, by Research UCSI University Trust Graduate Fellowship 2014 Batam, Indonesia First Prize (Poster Presentation) for Agriculture at the 22nd Annual Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB) Scientific Meeting Second Prize (Oral Presentation) at the International Postgraduate Research Awards Seminar (InPRAS) 2014 Best Oral Presentation at the 25th Intervarsity Biochemistry Seminar “Studying in UCSI has been a great and enriching experience. In my five years here, I have been fortunate to meet and make friends from various backgrounds and nationalities, enabling me to broaden my horizons in all aspects of my life. The opportunity of the cooperative placement (Co-Op) in the industry has exposed me to the real work environment, which itself is a valuable experience not commonly found in the classroom/laboratory settings. UCSI Has also been nurturing ground that ignites my interest in research, and it led to my furthering of studies by taking Master’s supported by the UCSI University’s scholarship, under the wonderful guidance of Assoc Prof Dr Crystale Lim Siew Ying. All in all, UCSI has been instrumental in helping me to grow as a person in order to reach new heights.” Raden M. Fajjar [Alumni] BA (Hons) Mass Communication Valedictorian 2013 Batam, Indonesia Currently working at One Education Services, Batam Founder of Batam Beauty Studio, Batam “My choice to attend UCSI University has proven repeatedly to be one of the best decisions I have made in my life. There are of course a few things that will forever characterise the campus for me and ensure that it is truly an unforgettable place. Whether it is coming into a class with an empty head and walking out the door with a head full of questions (those who have taken Mr Ken’s class would know what I’m talking about), having the opportunity to work on an internship for six months, and being exposed to the harmonious living and studying environment featuring distinct Middle Eastern, Chinese, African, and other international cultures, my experiences at UCSI will be the source of lifelong fond memories. I could not think of this once in a lifetime possibility had I not chosen to attend UCSI University.” Dyvawati [Alumni] BA (Hons) Business Administration Riau, Indonesia Currently working at Tune Protect Group Berhad “UCSI did not only provide me with a valuable learning experience, it also allowed me to expand my social circle where I’ve made friends from different countries and background. It was amazing to become fully immersed into a completely different culture. I would not give up the experience for anything. In my three years of studying in UCSI, it has taken a lot of hard work, commitment and sacrifices to successfully complete the programme I signed up for and every bit of work was worth it. As for the Co-Op placement programme, I personally think that it is an extremely beneficial programme for us as it provides us with hands-on experience and other educational benefits aside preparing us for our future careers. Through this programme, I’m also fortunate enough to have been offered a job opportunity at Tune Protect Group Berhad, a company I once did my internship at.” Herry Hartono [Alumni] BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering Pekanbaru, Indonesia “Studying abroad is far more beneficial to really push your comforts, and try immersing yourself in a culture that you are completely unfamiliar with. Since the first moment I came to UCSI, I was met with nothing but energy and enthusiasm. The community is diverse and the faculty and staff are truly amazing. They all want their students to do well and UCSI has so many opportunities for the students to get the help they need. My professors, for instance, has helped me beyond words. I really believe that it is a privilege to come to UCSI and I’m glad I made that decision. Through my involvement in the Bhinneka Indonesian Student Association and the Civil Engineering Student Association’s (CVESA) events that I organised, I got the opportunity to develop my interpersonal skills. Whereas through the Co-Op placement programme, I had the opportunity to explore the industry and apply what I learnt in class.” Adam Pahlevi Baihaqi [Alumni] BSc (Hons) Computing Indonesia Currently working as Software Engineer at Veritrans, Indonesia/Japan Payment Gateway Co-Tech Director of Indonesia Mengglobal “Choosing to go abroad is choosing to take the plunge into a new world. A world of new friendships, new experiences and freedom. My time in UCSI is nothing but rewarding. Its strong academic programs, readily accessible faculty, and a variety of student resources create an excellent learning environment for me to gain practical skills and most importantly, through its Co-Op programme, confidence in the workplace! I owe it also to my professors for the extra miles they went to help me through my difficulties. Thank you, UCSI for providing me with the opportunity and preparing me for success! Congratulations on being one of the Tier-5 universities in Malaysia. To all the prospective students, current students, lecturers and professors, staff and the University itself, I wish you all the best.” Rudy Kwinoto [Alumni] BA (Hons) Interior Architecture Riau, Indonesia Founder of Triadeas Interior Sdn Bhd “UCSI University was a great fit for me. There were a lot of universities closer to home that offers the programme I studied, but studying in Malaysia has been well worth the trip. Throughout my time at the University, I increased my confidence, gained independence, became more understanding of different cultures and lifestyles and learnt to love experiencing new things. I was exposed to a new world of opportunities. The people were so friendly and welcoming. The lecturers and community were also very supportive of the students! Today I’m the founder of Triadeas Interior Sdn Bhd and it’s all thanks to my learning experience in the University and the Co-Op programme that exposed me to the nuts and bolts of the industry. A huge thank-you UCSI and the CoOp programme for making this possible!” Heliana Binti Jamai Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) Brunei “UCSI University offers an excellent learning environment for the Optometry programme. Thanks to my lecturers and my Co-Op experiences, I now have a better appreciation for the intricacies of real-world experiments, and other essential skills in the world of engineering. The university life has made me an independent individual equipped with the skills necessary to be positive and confident to face the social world ahead of me. Throughout my studies here, I’m fortunate to have the opportunities to be part of the camping trips and several outdoor activities organised by the university. I also had the great privilege of connecting with people from other backgrounds and cultures on such a human level through my visits to the orphanages around Kuala Lumpur. Other than that, with friends coming from around the world, it certainly helped me to understand the meaning of diversity.” Intizor Kholmuradova BA (Hons) Business Administration Uzbekistan “Studying in UCSI has been one of the best decisions I have made. I’m growing up as an individual and I’m learning to interact and talk to people from different backgrounds. Apart from expanding my social circle, I truly enjoy the caring and friendly environment, the facilities we have, and the variety of services offered. On top of that, I’d also like to share that my lecturers are very professional and encouraging. They always make me feel well supported in my studies and in achieving my personal goals. UCSI thus far, has given me confidence and taught me to never stop yearning for knowledge.” Tion Ngutor Joseph BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering Nigeria “Getting enrolled in UCSI was probably one of the best decisions I made in life. From my four years of studying here, there is a lot of positive feedback I can give ranging from the vast majority of international students to the cosy atmosphere of the classrooms and study areas to the ease of access to public amenities and its distance from the city, among others. UCSI is not only academically driven. There is a major drive in extracurricular activities including clubs and societies, sports and recreational activities taking place on a daily basis within the campus and its environs. As an engineering student about to graduate, I’m very proud to be an alumnus of this university following the accreditation of this programme not only by the Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA) but also by the Washington Accord which warrants me to practice my engineering internationally.” Sarah Francis BA (Hons) Business Administration Tanzania “My journey in UCSI was truly amazing. The University is multicultural with students from 80 different countries, open and committed to providing education at the highest standards to the students. It also offers a fantastic academic environment, interdisciplinary initiatives and a library, which is well equipped with all the learning materials you need. For these reasons, I would heartily recommend UCSI to other students. I would encourage them to enjoy and exploit the academic expertise and social networking to the full. By doing that I have seized the opportunities to develop all sorts of skills, and enjoyed a rewarding social exchange and cultural life." Puddoo Shaneel Penkar BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering Mauritius “UCSI is an exciting and dynamic university. I was attracted by the institution’s reputation, development and career goals. It offers an excellent academic environment, sports facilities, and seminars with professionals and regular visits to the related field. The University also offers job placement and a Co-Op Placement Programme (internship) for students to gain a working experience as well as act a conducting line to achieve career goals. Everything about my CoOp experience was top notch and I urge everyone to take the opportunity and make it happen.”
