Here’s what some of last year’s participants wanted to share:
"Setting an intention for the coming year provided much needed clarity and reassurance for my plans for 2012. This has been
the most fun and relaxing new year's celebration to date!"
"The retreat opened me up on so many levels. The expansive setting of the Colorado Mountains gave my senses a much
needed break. Being in nature was truly healing- from the fantastic views of the ice-capped mountains to the hot baths.
The weather would change so often providing a backdrop that's constantly evolving. It made staying in the moment so
much easier. Skiing was a fun group activity, but it also led me to be more aware of my fears and limitations. Getting back
up after falling in the snow made me realize it was ok to fall. Every fall made it easier to get back up on my feet again.
Anthony and Anne Margaret's work through massage and yoga facilitated even more healing and awareness of my body."

ANNOUNCING YOGA ALLIANCE 200-HOUR
WEEKEND TEACHER TRAINING THIS SPRING!
Registered with the Yoga Alliance, this 200-hour certification is excitingly
original in its approach. This training is designed to cultivate teachers who are
able to express their unique spirit, strengths, and passions through yoga. Over
twelve weekends, participants will learn the fundamentals of teaching yoga
while journeying through a personal discovery of their unique style. Rooted in
the wisdom of the chakras and the vast insight of the greatest spiritual masters,
this training will provide a palette of several yogic styles, philosophies, and
approaches for teaching students how to connect with their body, mind, and
spirit. Participants will leave complete with a toolbox full of inspiration and
practical approaches to creating classes that inspire and truly make a difference
for others. This training has it all. Drawing upon the traditions of Kundalini,
Iyengar, Ashtanga, and many other styles of yoga, this training will guide you to create your own unique style
based on your passions, strengths, and individual experience. In this time of great global change, we need leaders
who courageously follow their heart and possess the wisdom and integrity of a master.
TEACHER TRAINING TEAM:
Anne-Margaret Redding designed this program from her unique training, experience and
perspective. Certified as a yoga teacher, personal trainer, and Reiki healer in 2001, she
began steeping herself in the study of the Chakras, life coaching, leadership training, and
energy work. In 2003, she created Astoria’s Women Circle sourcing herself and her community with the nurturing wisdom of the feminine. That same year, while on tour with
her first album, she began the Live Your Passion Tour: a workshop/concert designed to ignite passion in the hearts of young people while connecting them with their life purpose.
After marrying her life partner in 2007, she and Anthony enrolled in a 2-year seminary
resulting in their ordination as Interfaith Ministers, just days after opening The Giving Tree
Yoga Studio. Having just released her second album, Anne-Margaret continues to nurture
her own artistry while teaching, spiritual counseling, touring with Live Your Passion, and
creating the programming for The Giving Tree.

One Spirit Learning Alliance & Thanksgiving Schedule
This month, The Giving Tree is going global
with supporting an Interfaith Seminary in
Holland that furthers the peaceful dialogue
amongst religious differences.
Anthony and Anne-Margaret's seminary colleague, Joan Elkerbout, founded this seminary in 2010 and
is bringing this message to the Netherlands. As sacred consciousness evolves in a diverse yet increasingly
interconnected world, this work inspires passionate, caring individuals and communities to live engaged
lives of authenticity, celebration, compassionate service, and integrity.
What is Interspirituality? The Interfaith initiatives of the late twentieth century—the opening
of dialogue and sharing of wisdom among leaders and practitioners of different religions – have
flowered into an exciting new possibility for spiritual exploration and expression. We believe that a
rich inner life and a tangible quality of personal depth is the source of all meaningful action. Every
day each of us faces two important questions:
Are we truly happy?
Have we left the people we met and
the world we live in a better place?
All of our programs are aimed at helping us answer ‘Yes’ to
both questions. Each offering, in its own way, is based upon the
essential teachings of the world’s great spiritual traditions as
seen in the light of contemporary knowledge. We believe that advances in psychology,
neuroscience, organizational development, educational theory, cultural studies and other
relevant disciplines shed critical light on ancient teachings. They also help us discriminate
between those aspects of the teachings that are timeless, and those that are cultural
expressions relevant to another time and place.
We seek an authentic experience that encourages us to be wiser and more compassionate.
Life itself becomes a spiritual practice, liberating the Divine spark in each of us.
We seek to: Make peace within ourselves. Have healthy and effective personal and
professional relationships. Be a positive difference in the world.
Our aim is to encourage an authentic, science-integrative spirituality appropriate
to the 21st century. All of our programs are designed to foster the capacity
to make a positive difference at home, at work and in the world.

ON NOVEMBER 16th BROOKLYN BASED GANDHI:
www.gandhisongs.com
GANDHI is
Brooklyn, NY
based singer/songwriter Nimesh Gandhi. He writes, produces
and performs songs of melancholy, angst and hope. GANDHI
songs beckon listeners on a journey to new worlds and
alternate possibilities. His songs are delivered on a sound-bed
of classic Rock and Roll riffs, folk melodies and minimal
electronica. His guitar is never far at hand, and he is equally
comfortable on the strings
or on voice alone. After a
decade of penning songs
and finding his true
songwriting voice, GANDHI
is set to unleash his sound
and stories to the world.

November Theme: Gratitude
NOVEMBER THEME:
GRATITUDE
Quote of the Month:
“We can only be said to be
alive in those moments
when our hearts are
conscious of our treasures.”
-Thornton Wilder
When we forget gratitude, we miss the
entirety of life’s lessons. The energy of
Gratitude cannot coexist with most of our
‘negative’ emotions. It is impossible to have
an ‘attitude of gratitude’ and stay stuck in
the role of victim or fester with regret. This
month, challenge yourself to relate to your
past or current situation with the
frequency of gratitude. You may surprise
yourself with a new insight or a renewed
love for yourself and others. Gratitude is
the roadmap back to love.

New Moon Women's Circle & GAIA Meeting
New Moon Women's Circle
With astrological insights by Autumn
Come connect with women
in your neighborhood.
Sunday, 11/11, 6:30—8:30pm
$5 suggested donation.
Bring your favorite mug for tea!
Join the women of your community in powerful conversation
and conscious creation of the month ahead. Bring forth your
leadership skills, harnessing the wise woman within, and witness
the strength of the collective feminine! Since it’s beginning in
January 2003, almost 500 women from Astoria have
participated in this ancient tradition. The aim of this circle is to
guide women to connect with the incredible power that lies
within each and every one of us. We will focus on opening
ourselves up to the healing power of feminine energy with the
use of meditation, yoga, music, and group discussion. If you can’t
make the meetings, you are still welcome to join in the group
activities on our Facebook page and share in the experience!
Email [email protected] to be added to the FB group.
Global Awareness & Integrated Activism (GAIA) Meeting
"Never underestimate the power of a small, dedicated group of people to
change the world – indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."–Margaret Mead
Sunday,
November 25th
6:30pm
Since we opened our doors 3 years ago, our efforts in building community have provided a place of inclusivity in Astoria. The Giving Tree is expanding this intention becoming a center of global awareness and community activism providing leadership, vision and opportunities for action. Astoria is the most culturally diverse neighborhood in
the world and therefore a microcosm of our global community. Too often, we see
things going on in our world (genocide, devastation, corruption in government) and
feel powerless. Sometimes all we can think about is balancing making a living and/or
pursuing a dream. These injustices fade into the background and we can't conceive of
where to start, many times feeling alone in our plight with little energy left to give.
Fighting each other, claiming 'sides' through political parties, and being manipulated
by our TVs and corrupt, governmental institutions is a thing of the past. Power is
moving back in the hands of the people if we work together. Come hear from local
leaders, watch clips from informative documentaries and discuss. If you feel called to
make a difference or have ideas for these efforts, please attend!

Astrology with Autumn
November Astrological Forecast with Autumn
Riders on the Storm
This is a year that has battered us, given us great rewards that demand us to pay
a high price for all we receive. This year has also been a ball of questions, with the
answers floating somewhere around us.
This month, we will all get the answers to our questions; the main problem is this:
will we be able to understand the answers?
We have Mercury Retrograde from November 6 until the end of the month; when
Mercury is Retrograde, it is basically a breakdown in communications, contracts,
travel and electronics. This is not a month for new projects to be launched, or new adventures to go on. Instead,
this is a month for introspection, and completing old business. To match that we have a Solar Eclipse on
November 13 in Scorpio as well as a Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on November 28 . A Solar Eclipse acts like a amped
up new moon, ideal for new beginnings and formations for new intentions. A Lunar Eclipse is an ultra powerful
full moon; these usually bring resolution and certain events to a close. The Solar Eclipse is especially important,
since it happens in Scorpio, where the Sun and Scorpio currently reside. This is the first of the Scorpio Eclipse
series, so it is especially important to be clear about your intentions. The past will be on your mind, the way it
often is during Mercury Retrogrades; this will make it easier to decide what you want to leave behind and what
you want to carry with you into the future.
Venus, the planet of love, beauty and money will be in graceful Libra until November 21; this will provide us with
the grace to help us with transitions we need to contemplate making. However, once Venus makes that turn we
will find ourselves delving into the secrets of our money, beauty and love lives.
The middle to the end of the month will find us all making our own battle cries; Mars, the planet of war, sex and
possession will be conjunct Pluto, the planet of power, death and rebirth. This union will then make an ugly angle
to Uranus, the planet of electricity, flashes of insight and creativity. What this means is there will be a battle
between the establishment and the individual. Be ready for this contretemps.
We get relief when the Sun enters playful, optimistic Sagittarius, on November 21st. When the Lunar Eclipse in
Gemini, opposite the Sun in Sagittarius, occurs on November 28th, we find that we finally get resolution to all
the loose ends we have been dealing with for the past 2 years.
Get ready for the ride....
