We encourage you to read them wisely and thoroughly. THE BUYER Estimated Price Estimated price is the price range, which reflects the opinion of our specialist for the price expected to offer at the auction. This should not be relied on as a statement that this price is either at which the lot will sell or its value for any other purpose. Estimated prices are based upon prices recently paid at auction, and the condition of the artworks including the quality, rarity and history of ownership (provenance). Reserve Price The reserve is the confidential minimum price the seller is willing to accept and below which a lot not be sold. Buyer’s Premium Buyers are reminded that the price to be paid will be the sum of the final bid price plus the buyer’s premium. The rate of buyer’s premium for each lot is 22 % (twenty two percent) of the hammer price. BEFORE THE AUCTION Viewing Pre-sale viewings are strongly recommended for prospective buyers in order to examine the artworks thoroughly. Pre-sale viewing is open for the public at no charge and usually displayed for 2 (two) days prior to the sale. Condition Reports Condition reports are available upon request. They are statements of opinion and should not be relied on as statements of definitive fact. Descriptions of property are not warranties and that lot is sold “as is”. All goods are sold with all faults and imperfections and errors of description. Illustrations in catalogues are for identification only. It is strongly recommended that prospective buyers inspect and seek any independent expert advice to satisfy you as to authorship, attribution, authenticity, genuineness, origin, date, age, provenance or condition of lot. Registration If you are planning to participate in the auction, you will need to register with us at the registration desk, to complete a bidder registration form and to receive a bidding number to identify you if you are a successful bidder. Registration can be made during the viewing period or 30 minutes prior to the sell. THE AUCTION Bidding All artworks are auctioned in consecutive numerical order. Bidding is done in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) in incremental price raise. The auctioneer will accept bids from those present in the saleroom or absentee bidders participating by telephone or by written bid left with TREASURES in advance. The lot being offered is usually illustrated on a screen. Bidding Increments Bidding generally opens below the low estimate and advances in the following increments: Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Written bids are written instruction given to TREASURES to bid for you on one or more lots up to a maximum amount you specify for each lot. There is no charge for this service. If two or more parties leave identical bids, the first bid received by TREASURES will take preference. Written bid forms are available 7 days before the sale and returned to TREASURES within 24 hours before the sale or by fax to (021) 351 0707. Telephone Bids If you cannot attend the auction, TREASURES will execute on behalf of your bid by telephone. Please make arrangements for this service at least 1 (one) day before the sale. It is advisable for you to leave your maximum bid, in case you are unable to reach us by phone. Successful Bids Successful bidder will be indicated by the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer after reaching or exceeding the reserve price. TREASURES will record the bidder number of the buyer. Under the auctioneer’s discretion bidding may be reopened. Unsold lots When a lot fails to sell, the auctioneer will not announce a bidder’s number. Lots unsold will be returned to the consignor usually after a week in case there are any post sale offers. AFTER THE AUCTION Payment Payment of purchases should be made within 7 (seven) calendar days. Please include your paddle number, name, lot number, and total payment in your bank instruction. Hartanto. 2009 Signed, titled and dated on the reverse RP 75.000.000 - 90.000.000 His works are an experiment which tries to explore area between memory, stimuli, perception, projection, response and experience that involves them all. His portraits capture vivid facial expressions of his subjects - some are locked in cryptic suspicion while others are in a state of shock at unknown sources from beyond the drawing board. Underlying these unsettled portrayals is the artist’s reflection on disconnection in contemporary society which triggers and perpetuates these anxieties. Hartanto’s painting series of Post Nuclear Test are more political. It seems to have been visually arranged in such a way that our subject relation as the viewer and the viewed figures become blurred, overtuned, and even schizophrenic. Are the figures truly afraid of the North Korea Nuclear Test, while they are staring at us? Can the viewer play the roles as the source of the paranoia – as North Korea that many countries “fear”? As a form of sarcasm, this series essentially proposed an intriguing position to the audience who is able to capture the fearful expression of the figures within the painting. 40 TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION 41 077 HERI KRIS (Yogyakarta, 1967) Abstraksi Burung 078 GATOT WIDODO (Bojonegoro, E. P. Adolfs RP 75.000.000 - 90.000.000 Gerard Pieter Adolfs was born 2 January 1898 in Semarang, CentralJava. He was a Dutch East Indies painter and architect. He was already well-known as a talented advertising illustrator, when in 1924 he was first introduced to the public of Yogyakarta as a painter, water-colourist and graphic artist. Each year Adolfs travelled for a few months. He had studios in Florence, Rome, Vienna, Budapest, prag and - together with his Japanese friend Léonard Tsuguharu Fujita - in Paris and exhibited his works of art internationally (Netherlands Indies, Japan, Singapore, USA, England, Holland, Sweden, Norway, France, and Switzerland. Adolfs has already proved himself to be a prolific painter of the divergent landscapes of his native country. His output also compromised numerous impressions of quarreling natives or Arabs, capricious antique dealers and their ware, pirates and their proa, boats, nudes, beggars, prostitutes and their clients and even of murder. For Adolfs was a painter with a deep interest in the Dutch East Indies’ daily life. And in this respect he differed profoundly from painters like Eland, Wichers and Dezentje, who limited their repertory mostly to the landscape. Adolfs was considered among the Indies painters who might with some justification be described as Flamboyant-art lechers. There are so many flamboyant themes he produced with shimmering mountains in the background, a ripening rice field, and the coconut palm. He found his idioms through observing photos. However he never copies the photographs either. His paintings show that he tends to go beyond photography, in the sense that the sceneries he creates in his canvases are impossible for photography to emulate. In playing with this imagination of the unreal-reality or engineered visual reality, he employs painstakingly realistic technique in the details of his works. His style and theme becomes a pioneer of Gerakan Seni Rupa Indonesia in the late 70’s. He had received several awards, such as: General Award for The Arts from The Society for American Indonesia Friendship Inc. (1978), The International Visitor’s Program from USIS, USA (1981), Anugerah Adam Malik (1986), and Affandi Award (1993). Since the last two decades, Dede Eri Supria has developed fascinating paintings that amaze the Indonesian art aficionados. His works are rich in colors, forms, and lines which formed in careful fashion producing a pleasant and enjoyable picture. The picture sometimes drives the viewers to personally feel the situation as illustrated in canvas. Balinese dancer is one of Dede’s favorite objects that often times reveal in most of his painting with different style and nuances. 58 TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION 59 122 AMANG RAHMAN JUBAIR (East Java, 1931 – 2001) Ya Rachman Ya Rahim, 1993 Oil media on canvas: 100 x 100 cm Signed and dated, lower left: Amang R’93 Literature: Henri Nurcahyo, Mamannoor, Ambang Cakrawala, Seni Lukis Amang Rahman Jubair, Published by Yayasan Kembang Jati, Jakarta, 2001, Pg. 118 RP 15.000.000 - 20.000.000 118 SUDARSO (Purwokerto, 1914 - 2006) Reclining Nude, 2001 119 F.
