Boxing Cards
Basketball Autographs
4851986 Fleer 57 Michael Jordan RC
BGS 9.5....1500
The ultimate modern Rookie Card, these have been really
hot in recent years. The offered card is special, it has the
striking color, image quality and signature feel of a Gem
Mint card. Graded Gem Mint 9.5 by Beckett, they have
the centering, edges and corners all at 9.5 and the surface
at 9. The corners and edges are all razor sharp WITH NO
ViSIBLE WEAR EVEN UNDER MAGNIFICATION. The
back is immaculate. This does honestly look comparable
to a PSA 10 but of course we cannot promise anything.
Serious Rookie Card of one of the most popular athletes
in the world, this will be the cornerstone of many a card
collection.

486 Fully Signed 1956-57 Celtics Yearbook
w/period Bill Russell!
9..........................400
Truly remarkable item, this is a yearbook from the first
Boston Celtic Championship team. This was Bill Russell’s
Rookie year, a historic team that forever altered basketball
history. Missing the cover (this can be replaced from an
unsigned copy if desired), otherwise clean. Superb piece
as our consignor, a true bon vivant, was lucky enough to
catch Bill Russell in a good mood, and had this signed.
There are 12 total autographs, all signed in bold period
ink on their image. The Rookie Russell is gorgeous, others
include Celtics HOF owner Walter Brown (D’1964 and
also important to hockey history), Auerbach, Heinsohn,
Hemric, Loscutoff, Nichols, Palazzi, Ramsey, Risen, Sharman and Tsioropoulos. Oddly enough, he did not get two
of the easiest signatures (Bob Cousy and KC Jones). Some
are inscribed, this is a great, great vintage signed basketball program. How often do you ever find Bill Russell and
Walter Brown on the same item? JSA LOA.
487 Quality 1950s Cut Collecton
w/Maurice Stokes & Many Stars (84 pcs) 8.........200
Original owner collection of autographs from a very dedicated autograph collector. He was in Boston and a big
Celtic fan so he had great access to the top players in
the game. Unfortunately, the consignor of these items
fully taped over nearly all of his autographs. These were
collected from the early 1950s onward and are completely
fresh to market and unpicked. Better pieces include but
may well not be limited to the following: Auerbach, Braun,
Clifton, Cousy (2), Foust, Frank Ramsey, Gallatin, Harlem
Globetrotters (11 w/Saperstein), Heinsohn, Neil Johnston
(D’78), Kundla, Lapchick (D’70), Luscutoff, Macauley,
McGuire, Most, Pettit, Andy Philip, Pollard, Schayes,
Sharman, Maurice Stokes (D’70), Walton and Zaslofsky.
Several Celtics and other team issue 8x10s are included as
well. Very substantial vintage basketball collection, these
are so much scarcer than their baseball & football counterparts, this is one of the best that we have seen. JSA LOA.
488 1966 Chicago Bulls Signed 1st Year Program
(24 sigs!)9..........................120
Great early NBA piece for a Bulls fan, this is a desirable
Chicago Bulls first year program. This comes with a ticket
for 12/30/66 against the rival Celtics. Signed by all of the
Bulls and many of the Celtics, these are beautiful vintage
autographs. Better names include Johnny Kerr (2), Jerry
Sloan, Bob Boozer, Al Bianchi, Keith Erickson and Guy
Rodgers from the Bulls. Celtic signatures include John
Havlicek, KC and Sam Jones, Jim Barnett and Larry
Siegfried. Quality vintage NBA signed items like this are so
much rarer than baseball and football programs from the
same era. JSA LOA.
489 Large Print Bird/Russell
8.5.......................150
Fine color image of these two Celtics legends. Signed by
both in silver sharpie, Russell added his uniform number.
This is the kind of thing that will easily run $400 to get
signed. Attractive piece awaits your choice of frame.
JSA LOA.
490 Large Print Chamberlain/Frazier 9.5....................125
We all see Chamberlain/Russell items but how often do
you see Wilt with Clyde? Offered is a terrific 16x20 action
shot of these two legendary NBA HOFers going after a
ball in the air. Likely from the NBA finals, this is great
photography. Signed by both, Frazier added HOF 1987,
Chamberlain his number 13. The signatures are quite nice
in bold silver sharpie. Framed to 28 x 31, we have not seen
one of these until now and this is possibly quite scarce.
Fine piece for a vintage basketball collector. JSA LOA.
491 Jordan, Michael Signed Mini-Basketball 8...........250
Adorable piece, this is actually really scarce. Offered is a
Baden Chicago Bulls multi-color mini basketball. Signed
by MJ himself in large black sharpie, he also added his
#23. This is the first time we have seen a real one of these.
JSA LOA.
492 Neiman, Leroy Signed Michael Jordan Postcard
w/incredible inscription9.5.......................100
Oversize 6x8 postcard of Jordan offers six fine visages of
Jordan. The inscription makes the piece: “The man who
always gets to the basket is the KING OF TIME Leroy
Neiman 91”. Signature and writing is in Mint black sharpie. How neat is this? JSA LOA.
493 1909 E75 Collection of 14 w/all keys
Good...................135
Rough but still presentable lot, these retain good color and
eye appeal despite the usual condition issues. Stars include
Sullivan, Fitzsimmons and both Corbetts. All are pictured
front and back on our web site.
494 1910T21864 assorted
w/several Jefferies & Johnsons
VG but varies....180
Slightly mixed but nonetheless very bright and attractive
grouping. From the original owner, this lot contains three
each of Jefferies and Johnson, providing for some real
heft. Duplication is not excessive, lots of value on these
undervalued cards here.
495 1910T220Set -1 Common VG to VG-Ex.....210
Attractive set is missing just one common. Condition varies, but is not bad at all, mostly VG-Ex to Ex or very close.
The backs are clean, this could benefit from some inexpensive upgrading. Stars are as follows: Dempsey VG-Ex,
Fitzsimmons VG+, Jefferies/Sharkey Good, Kilrain/Sullivan GVG and Sullivan GVG/VG.
496 1921 Strip Card Lot (20 pcs) VG to VG-Ex.......75

wrinkles on the back keeping this below Ex. These have
unusually good color and image quality; a great companion piece for a set.

507 1973 Frazier/Foreman
Signed Rare Program 9.5......150
Something we have not seen before, this is a great looking
oversize 9 x 12 program for the

This on site program has a tight
spine and pristine interior pages.
This is signed by both fighters in
large black ink at the top margin.
JSA LOA.
504 1907 Dana Photo Burns-O’Brien Fight
Ex-Mt.................150
Remarkable original Dana photo from this epic early bout.
This fight took place on May 8, 1907 and both fighters are
captured in a stunning image with the crown behind them.
This true artifact measures 29 x 19 and is in terrific condition save a very faint tear at the extreme right border.
This is presented double-matted in a very attractive period
frame. Total size 40 x 30.

Very tough wrapper, this has crisp edges with hardly any
wear. Another great companion piece for a set.

great. JSA LOA.

44 Rocky Marciano
SGC 8.5..............140
Razor sharp card of this beloved boxer, the corners could
not be any sharper. Centered slightly to the bottom border,
or this would almost surely have graded a Mint 9.
503 1956 Topps Adventure

Very strong lot from this colorful issue, condition is a very
strong NM to Nm-Mt overall (much more like Nm-Mt than

follows: 22, 31 (2), 33, 35 (2), 77(4), 87(3), 88 (2), 90.

JSA LOA.
512 8 x 10 Marciano, Rocky
8..........................180
Fresh to the hobby, this is a fun image of boxing legend
Rocky Marciano in civilan clothes in front of a hotel desk.
This is signed “To Tommy Rocky Marciano” in large
and attractive blue ballpoint. The photo itself has several
creases and closed tears but still offers a fun image of this
beloved fighter who died in 1969 at age 45. JSA LOA.
513 Vintage Collection
w/Marciano, Louis and Ali (21 pcs) 8*................150
Original owner collection of autographs from a very dedicated autograph collector. Unfortunately, the consignor of
these items fully taped over nearly all of his autographs.
These were collected from the early 1950s onward and are
fresh to market and unpicked, so there could well be some
rarities and tough autographs within. This is a subtstantial
collection of boxing with most of the key figures in boxing
history that were alive from 1950 through 1970, better
pieces include but may not be limited to: Muhammed Ali
(early), Joey Cam, Tony Canzoneri (postcard), Jimmy

Football Cards
514 1934 National Chicle
9 Knute Rockne
PSA 4..................240
We know these are not rare but still they seem like a true
bargain in today’s market given the player and issue. Solid
for the grade, we could not see any creases or wrinkles,
even under magnification. The corners show moderate
and even wear, centering is mildly to the right border.
Very pleasing 1930s gum card of one of the great names in
football history.

Crisp, well assembled and very fine looking set. Condition

PSA. The Starr RC appears to be undergraded as it has no
visible creases, even under magnification, just some slight
edge wear on the right border, we feel this should be at
least a 4. The key cards are as follows: 1 Eddie LeBaron

520 1958 Topps Near-Set (115/132)
w/Brown RC SGC 4
Ex but varies.....250
Good lot as this has a crease-free Jim Brown Rookie that is
very nice for the grade. A white-hot card of late, this can
easily sell for nearly $300 by itself. The rest of the set

with centering issues. Better cards are as follows: 10 Lenny
Moore, 62 Jim Brown RC, 66 Bart Starr, 73 Gifford, 106
Art Donovan , 120 Raymond Berry, 129 George Blanda

SMR is $250 on this key card. Well centered and truly
razor sharp, full comparable to a PSA 9.
527 1965 Topps 122 Joe Namath RC SP PSA 6........700
Iconic football card, Topps really did a great job with the
image and design for this card. Exceptionally bright and
attractive, this has a phenomenally nice image of Broadway Joe. Centered to the left border, this has four square
corners, bright white borders and pristine surfaces. Who
wants to fill the ultimate hole in their 65 set?
528 1968 Topps Complete Set
Ex-Mt (a few weaker)..........200
Not a bad set at all, this is about 70% Ex-Mt or better, the
balance varies but those are mainly VG-Ex and Ex.
Inexpensive upgrading could help out this set. The keys

great, Payton also added his uniform number. These have

629 King, Martin Luther Handwritten Speech
and Signed Program
9.5.................2700
Great piece, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at a Jewish
Congregation in New Jersey in January of 1963. Offered
is a 5 1/2 8 1 1/2 foldout program for a Shabbat service.
This is very special as the interior is completely penned
by King, he provides very detailed notes for his speech. In
his speech, he uses some classic rhetoric: “We have known
many Egypts also many Pharaohs. We have seen seen this
same thing in colonialism...Wind of Change has begun to
flow...Our Christian responsibility require that we take
the philosophy we are our Brothers Keeper. No man is an
island - any man that dies diminishes me...Social evils must
not overtake us”. As if this was not enough, King signed
the front cover, a gorgeous four inch plus spotless black
ballpoint ink autograph. A signed speech on an interesting
medium, this is really special. This is important on any
number of levels, both for the autograph and speech itself
but also as a testament to a time when the African-American and American Jewish communities worked handin-hand in the 1960s for the noble goal of ensuring Civil
Rights for all Americans. The Rabbi from this temple
(Israel Dresner of Temple Sha’arey Shalom) was deeply involved in this cause, no doubt why King chose to speak. A
few years ago, some Martin Luther King TLS’s with great
content brought $10,000 - $20,000 in our auction, to us this
is much, much better than even those items. JSA LOA.

Fairly unique collection, a wealthy and highly cultured
couple from the New York City-area seemingly attended
every important cultural event and such from the mid1970s onward. There is a seemingly endless run of tickets
to Broadway shows, Opera Tickets, including in Europe,
likely important concerts at Tanglewood, many Jazz concerts, many concerts at Carnegie Hall, various appearances of The New York Philharmonic, the Barbra Streisand
concert from 1994, the vital Cezanne show in 1996 at the
Philadelphia Museum of Art and so much more. If a clever
cultural and social historian wanted to make a survey of
American high culture from the mid-1970s onward, this
fascinating collection would be a great place to start. The
condition is a pleasing Ex-Mt overall, with the usual natural wear from handling and use. This collection is the result of a unique combination of a couple with outstanding

28. This Bewitched test issue 18 x 14-3/4 uncut
panel sheet has 7 cards in 4 rows on trading card
set stock. Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha is
featured on 17 cards (plus two duplicates, Pretty
Witch and Practicing Witchcraft). The uncut
sheet has a blank grey back and is unnumbered
as issued as it never went beyond the test phase.
This is in Ex-Mt condition overall with note to
a small crease area at the bottom left which can
more readily be seen from the verso, which just
touches the card in the lower left. As for pricing history, a GAI graded set once sold for over
$16,000 at auction and a near-set of 23/26 once
brought $9,000. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the most coveted non-sport
test issues of the post war era, sure to please
almost any fan of this 1960 TV Classic, or more
specifically Elizabeth Montgomery in her most
memorable character.

7021954Bowman
Complete Set w/168 signed cards! 8.5.......................600
A perfect lot for our time, offered is a middle grade but
more than acceptable 1954 Bowman baseball set. This is
notable as it has no less than 168 different signed cards!
Missing the true rarities, the ungraded stars are rough,
which in a way is good as this will not be a $10,000 set and
will put this within the budgets of a wide range of collectors. An ideal set to attempt to complete in signed form,
how often do things like this come around? Condition
varies on the cards and autographs, mid-grade overall,
with many clean signatures as well. The autographs are in
both vintage ballpoint ink and sharpie and may contain
some tougher pieces. For the autographs, better signatures
include: Adcock, Ashburn, Berra, Burgess, Doby, Feller,
Furillo, Garagiola, Garcia, Goodman, Kiner, Larsen, Lemon, Maglie, Mathews, Newcombe, Rizzuto, Snider, Suder,
Torgeson, Wertz and Wynn. Key unsigned cards are as
follows: 6 N Fox GVG, 65 Mantle Good, 89 Mays VG+, 90
Campanella VG, 138 Hodges VG-Ex/Ex, 145 Martin VGEx/Ex and 177 Ford Ex-Mt ctd. JSA LOA.
7031955Topps 40 Don Hoak (rare) 8........................180
Rare card as this popular 1955 Brooklyn Dodger died in
1969 at age 41. A key to a signed 55 set, this card has tape
along the edges but retains its bright original color and has
excellent image quality. Signed in the center in large blue
ballpoint, a nice signature. This is great as it is needed by
both Brooklyn Dodger collectors, especially the hallowed
year of 1955 Topps, and the many collectors working on
full signed 55 Topps sets. JSA LOA.

7051975Giant SSPC & TCMA
Signed Card Collection (1,217 pcs) w/66 HOFers 9......1000
Extremely substantial collection, these are all neatly
housed in individual holders and fill up four two-row
boxes. Obtained mostly in person by a die-hard autographed card collector, these are notable as many were
collected in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with some
rarities. The sets here include the underrated 1975 SSPC
set and the various 1950s and 1960s TCMA sets from the
period. The cards are notable for their clean design and
excellent photography. There is duplication here, in some
cases there are three of one card, in other cases there are
three signatures on three different cards of a player. The
lot has a large number of obscurities, often catnip to card
collectors, as these unusual collector sets often made cards
of players without a Topps card. There are 68 HOFers in
this lot, including Aaron (2), Alston (3), Blyleven, Gary
Carter, Doby (2), Durocher, Herzog, Killebrew, Koufax
(2), Musial, Reese, Ryan (ch), Santo (2), Seaver, Torre, Ted
Williams and Yount. Deceased players include (but are certainly far from limited to): Joe Adcock (2), Bob Allison (2),
Harry Bright (2), Smoky Burgess (2), Dave DeBusschere,
Jim Finigan, Carl Furillo, Harvey Haddix (2), Elston
Howard (2), Dick Howser (2), Clay Kirby, Ted Kluszewski
(3), Harvey Kuenn, Dale Long (3), Sal Maglie, Erv Palica
(D’82, very scarce), Darrell Porter (ch), Wally Post (2),
Charley Smith, Karl Spooner (D’84), Rube Walker and Vic
Wertz. There is a wide variety of non-HOFer star players,
including but certainly not limited to: Blue, Concepcion,
G. Foster, Groat, K. Hernandez, Kubek, Lopat, McCarver,
Minoso, Oliva, Pinella, A. Reynolds, Richardson and Bill
White. Condition is strong overall, the winning bidder
should absolutely love this cherished collection. JSA LOA.
7081979TCMA 161 Roger Maris 9.5.......................150
Spotless Roger Maris signature is in huge and flawless blue
sharpie. Pictured as a young Kansas City A’s player, the
card itself is Near Mint or better and looks great. Extremely high quality Roger Maris signed card, always very
popular among collectors. JSA LOA.
7091979Topps 670 Jim Hunter (lot of 96) 9.5...........400
Very clean 96 count lot of signed 1979 Topps Jim Hunter
cards. This was his last card as a Yankee and as a player.
Signatures are almost invariably in very bold blue sharpie.
These were all signed in person for a personal friend of
Hunter’s and have been in a closet for over 20 years.
The cards themselves are mostly Near Mint. JSA LOA.
7101984Topps Collection of 793 Signed Cards
- World Class Set
9.5.......................500
Collection of 793 signed cards, 10 are from the traded set,
so that leads to an incredible 783/792 different signed
cards from the regular set! - virtually an absolutely full
signed set (one noticable space was Chili Davis). The cards
look great, the autographs match the card quality; there
were clearly collected with great care by a die-hard signed
card collector, I love the team leader cards, career leaders, league leaders and specials that are almost all fully
signed (with some major HOFers throughout). This lot
contains an almost mind boggling 88 HOF autographs! the expense and effort this required almost makes one’s
head spin. There could well be many scarcities within the
lot. Better names include but are probably not limited
to the following: Bench, Boggs (2), Brett (3), Cox, Diaz,
Dravecky (2), Flanagan, Gwynn, R. Henderson (4), Howser, R. Jackson (5), Kuenn, Aurelio Lopez (scarce), Billy
Martin, Mattingly, McGraw (2), Donnie Moore, Molitor,
Murray (2), Porter, Quisenberry (3), Ripken (3), Rose (3),
Ryan (3), Sandberg, Schmidt (4), Seaver (3), Show, Torre,
Welch, Wiggins, Winfield (2), Yaz and Yount. A veritable
gold mine as singles, I cannot imagine the time and effort
that went into this tremendous collecting accomplishment.
A special, special signed set, this is a truly great signed
card lot. It does not get any better than this, this lot offers
incredible star power, top condition and relative rarity.
Whatever this lot sells for, it almost can never be enough.

High quality matted display (14x11) eagerly awaits your
choice of frame. This consists of signed postcards from
Roger Maris, Curt Flood, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda and
Tim McCarver. A ticket for game 3 is in the center. The
two best signatures in darkness happen to be among the
most valuable (Maris and Flood). This is something that
might cost over $700 to piece together. JSA LOA.

719 8 x 10 Attell, Abe (double-signed) 9........................180
Great signed photo, Attel was a star boxer but perhaps his
greatest impact was a vital cog in the 1919 Black Sox conspiracy. Fine image, this is signed by Attel twice; he writes
at the top “To A Pal Joel from his Pal Abe Attell” and then
at the bottom again “Abe Attell”. Everything is in clean
blue ballpoint. Attell died in 1970 and is a very tough 8x10.
JSA LOA.
720 Clemente, Roberto
Signed Photo
9.........750
Impressive 5x8 full color image
of Clemente, this is nicely
matted and awaits your choice
of frame. Signed “Best Wishes

blue ballpoint signature. This
has a wonderful flow and is
honestly one of the nicer Clemente autographs one is likely to
encounter on such an attractive
image. JSA LOA.
717 1933 Tour Japan Signed Postcard 9......................3000
In this era of hyperbole, we all use words like rare and
important and incredible more than we probably should.
However, for some items those words are appropriate. The
offered lot is one of the finest autographed items that we
have ever handled, and one of the very best pieces of its
kind in the hobby. Baseball, always looking to promote
itself internationally, embarked on seminal tours of Japan
in 1931 and 1934. Items from these tours are extremely
desirable as many of the very best players in the game
participated. Signed items are of course especially desirable, particularly with a whole team. The offered lot is a
truly stunning America First postcard with the American
flag cleanly laid out against a white background. This is
signed completely by this famous team, with no less than
18 outstanding period fountain pen signatures. Babe
Ruth naturally dominates the top, a flawless and stunning
exemplar. Lou Gehrig holds court on the left edge, also a
stunning autograph. The other HOFers are Jimmie Foxx,
Earl Averill, Charlie Gehringer, Lefty Gomez and an
especially nice Connie Mack. The other signers include the
vital Moe Berg, who it is said photographed the Japanese
coastline during this tour, and these films were apparently
vital to Jimmy Doolittle during World War Two. Other
signers include Earl Whitehill, Bing Miller, Eric McNair,
John Quinn, J. Coscarella, Doc Ebling, Rabbit Warstler
and Robert Schroeder. Oddly enough, Lefty O’Doul, a
vital figure in Japanese baseball, was not on the piece, and
our consignor felt he needed to be somehow included and
he matted a signed 3x5 just below this piece. Very nicely
framed, this has a terrific 8x10 image from the Tour of
Japan with all signers present and a custom plaque detailing all of the players on the piece. Total size 24 x 23, a
truly awesome and museum quality piece. This is the kind
of thing where whatever it sells for, in some ways it is not
enough, it is that great. JSA LOA.

Smooth Sailing Mickey Cochrane 1-29-44” in attractive
and flowing green fountain pen. Great image of a smiling
Cochrane, this is a real treasure to find autographed so
nicely! JSA LOA.

June 3 Auction: Baseball Autographs
722 Photo Cochrane/Gehringer (1935) 9.5...................180
Charming piece, this is an 8 1/2 x 11 page with mounted
newspaper sketch images of these HOF teammates from
1935. Solid piece as it was signed AT THE TIME by both
in spotless fountain pen. Creative pairing, likely unique.
Cochrane died in 1962 and is always a desirable autograph, especially signed in this era. JSA LOA.
730 8 x 10 McCarthy, Joe and Ruppert, Jacob 9..........700
Extremely rare and great photo, this has VINTAGE signatures of Yankee HOFers Jacob Ruppert and Joe McCarthy
paired together on this wonderful image from the 1930s.
Ruppert’s signature is very common on documents and
such but when was the last time you saw one on an 8x10?
McCarthy, considered by many to be the greatest manager in baseball history, is a perfect pairing for Ruppert as
Marse Joe McCarthy led the Yankees to the World Series
no less than eight times in his thirteen years with the team.
Ruppert’s long overdue induction into the HOF in recent
years has only made this fairly unique image only more
desirable. JSA LOA.
723 Photo Cooper Brothers
9..........................100
5 1/2 x 4 color newspaper photo of these two brothers.
Signed by both in fountain pen on their respective images,
both autographs look great. This has been folded and has
some general wear, but retains its original color and still
presents well. Aside from being cool, this is really scarce
because Mort Cooper died in 1958 at only age 45.
JSA LOA.
731 Photo Robinson, Jackie (7x9)9.5.......................700
Offered is a gorgeous 8x10 that is trimmed to 7x9. Bright
glossy image of a smiling Jackie, this is a superb image.
The photo itself has a crease by the upper right corner but
otherwise looks great. Striking image of a young Jackie,
this is signed and inscribed in flawless blue fountain pen.
This is begging to be put in the right frame, extremely fine
Jackie signed photo. JSA LOA.
724 8 x 10 Dean, Dizzy (superb image) 9.5....................150
Offered is a fantastic b/w glossy image of Dizzy Dean flexing his pitching arm with a $15,000 - $20,000 price tag.
This is signed in spotless black ink by Dean on the left side.
Matted and framed, this is the first time we have seen this
piece. JSA LOA.
725 8 x 10 DiMaggio, Joe (to Ralph Houk!) 9.............125
One of the very best Joe DiMaggio signed photos that we
have handled, this lovely treasure is from 1951 and features a classic image of a pensive Joe. This is signed AT
THE TIME IN PERIOD INK as follows: “To my good
friend and teammate Ralph Major Houk Wishing you
all the best Sincerely Joe DiMaggio”. The image is dated
9/29/51 near the bottom border, which is significant as that
was the day before Joe’s last regular season game with the
Yankees (and in baseball). The condition is terrific, what a
great piece from one vital Yankee to another. JSA LOA.
94
727 8 x 10 Mack, Connie
9.........................150
We all know Connie Mack lived seemingly forever and he
is certainly not a rare autograph but how many own a
full 8x10? Offered is a terrific high quality image of Mack
posed with a fan in his trademark attire. Signed and
inscribed: “To Marty D. Arcy Connie Mack” in consistent
and solid fountain pen. Exceptionally nice Connie Mack
signed 8x10 looks great. JSA LOA.
728 Large Print Mantle/Martin/Ford
(ex-Whitey Ford collection)
9.5.......................300
This is a 19 x 25 high quality color lithograph of Mantle,
Ford and Martin posed above and below a visage of Yankee Stadium. All three players have signed this in spotless
blue sharpie and best of all, this personally belonged to
Whitey Ford and comes with an LOA from him. Please
note that Billy Martin’s untimely death in 1989, before the
mega-show era, makes all items of this kind with his signature especially desirable. JSA LOA. JSA LOA.
729 Photo Manush, Heinie
9..........................165
Great original 1930s Senators larger format team issue
photo. Signed at the time in fountain pen. Rare photo
signed by this HOFer in his playing career, something that
hardly ever comes around. Fine image has a pinhole at the
top border that can be easily matted away if desired.
The signature is large and fine. JSA LOA.
732 Photo Ruth, Babe
7..........................750
Slightly trimmed b/w photo postcard, this is one of the
more unique images of Babe Ruth on a flat. Signed at the
upper left corner, a slightly light but pleasing ink signature. This is likely a hair light from direct exposure to
sunlight as there are no breaks in the signature. Affordable
and pleasing Babe Ruth signed photo, nice piece.
JSA LOA.
733 8 x 10 Yawkey, Tom (World Class) 9.5....................300
Gorgeous 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 original photo, this is a real stunner.
From the 1930s, this is a glorious image of a very debonair
Tom Yawkey. Signed at the time in fountain pen, this is
huge and inscribed. It would be hard to imagine a nicer
Tom Yawkey photo in the hobby. From our consignor’s
incredible Boston Red Sox autograph collection, this was
naturally one of his very favorite pieces. HOF; D’76.

738 8 x 10 Collection of 226 Signed Photos
w/Some Stars
9.5.......................300
Very well presented lot of 8x10s, some are original images.
Excellent photographs, these are nicely chosen. Not bursting with HOFers and key stars, there is nonetheless some
good content. Neatly organized by team, with light duplication only. Better signatures include (but are probably
not limited to): Adcock, Bagwell (2, very early), Boddicker,
Bruton, L761C. Cooper, Doc Ellis, Jethroe, Pedro Martinez (early), Mauch, Ogilvie, Jim Rice (2), Rudi, Sauer,

very early 1990s, a real tour through baseball history, with
likely at least half the lot of pre-1975 players. JSA LOA.
739 8 x 10 Collection of 300 different modern 8x10s
9.5.......................350
Enormous collection of modern 8x10s, all in individual
8x10 holders and crucially, identified at the top! Obtained
in spring training and other places in person over the
past 5-10 years, condition is virtually spotless. There is
hardly any duplication, and a good mix of teams, including the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox and most others. Better
autographs include: AJ Burnett, Chavez, Eric Davis, Dye,
Chuck Finley, Fister, J. Gonzalez, Grich, T. Hunter, A.
Jones, Kendick, Kinsler, Konerko, McLain, Millwood,
K. Morales, J. Morneau, Newcombe, Sheffield, Sutter,
Vizquel, Todd Walker, Wells and M. Wills. The lack of

759 Cut Selee, Frank (very rare)7.......................1000
Profoundly rare, Selee was the manager for the 1890 - 1901
Boston Beaneaters, the 1902 Chicago Orphans and the
1903 - 1905 Cubs. He died in 1909 at only age 49 and is
an incredibly rare autograph. Selee was inducted into the
Hall of Fame in 1999, creating tremendous demand for his
nearly impossible autograph. Offered is a cut from a letter,
signed “I am yours sincerely Frank G Selee” in blue fountain pen. The cut has some general wear and is certainly
not perfect but it is pleasing overall. From the incredible
Red Sox collection offered throughout the auction, how
often do these come along? JSA tells us that this is one of
only seven in existence, thus a must-have for a truly advanced HOF autograph collector. JSA LOA.

Great Ruth autograph, among the best you will find. This

Exceptionally nice 3x5, this one really looks great. Super
clean 3x5, signed in spotless dark flowing ink. This is one

handled. Underrated HOFer and 3,000 hit club member,
Simmons died in 1945. JSA LOA.
761 GPC Speaker, Tris
9.5......................150
Spotless GPC has a large and impeccable blue ink signature. Especially fine, this really looks great. We do not
know the date as this is mounted to a postcard photo on
the reverse. It is very difficult to imagine a bigger or nicer
Tris Speaker signature on a flat. JSA LOA.
763 Cut Stallings, George
9.........................150
Rare autograph, Stallings was the manager of the famous
1914 Miracle Boston Braves team and is known to many
collectors from his unforgettable cover image on the World
Series program from that year. Stallings played briefly
for the 1890 Brooklyn Dodgers and 1897-8 Phillies (player-manager). He managed the Braves from 1913 - 1920
and also managed the Yankees in 1909-1910 and the Tigers
in 1901. Stallings died in 1929 and is naturally a very rare
autograph. The offered lot is a wonderful very large cut
from a letter, nearly four inches long and signed neatly
in period fountain pen. This is probably the first time we
have ever handled one of these. This should be of tremendous interest to both an advanced Boston Braves collector
and also Yankee collectors as he managed the 1909-1910
Highlanders. JSA LOA.

content relates to getting some young men into a show at

top notch autograph from a legendary HOF pitcher and

A titanic figure in baseball history, John McGraw died in

this, the Knitting Company can use McGraw’s signature
and pictures of the team wearing these sweaters in their
advertising campaigns. Fairly unique piece, an interesting
insight into baseball business in the 1920s. Signed boldly
John J. McGraw in dark fountain pen with hardly any
bleeding. There are various pencil notations on the left side
of the letter, no doubt from the Bradley Knitting Company. Almost a document, this is an interesting signed agreement by the legendary John McGraw. JSA LOA.
766 3 x 5 Waner, Paul (superb quality) 9.5.............125

this quality. JSA LOA.

Blades and Killifer and amazingly enoughs, asks Gutteridge to pay for the room and board expenses of $8 a week.
The rest of the content is detailed and interesting. Signed

bold and fine. D’60. JSA LOA.

789HOFers/Umpires (8)
8*........................150
Serious piece despite a condition flaw, this 4x4 album page
has eight bold period ink signatures on either side. Great
content with HOFers Ed Walsh (D’59, he added White Sox
in his own hand), Dazzy Vance (D’63), Home Run Baker
(D’63), George Weiss, William Harridge, Warren Giles,
Carl Hubbell and umpire Bill Summers. Collected in the
1950s and fresh to the hobby. JSA LOA.
793 BW HOF Plaque Nichols, Kid 9.5.....................1000
Incredibly rare, there are a very limited number of these
that seem to exist. In an odd twist, this otherwise perfectly
clean piece is trimmed down to 3x5 inches in size to match
the rest of our consignor’s magnificent collection. Signed
at the top in super bold blue ballpoint, Charles A. Kid
Nichols. The quality is simply superb and the signature
is a full three inches long! In light of the great rarity and
otherwise impeccable quality, we think the consignor’s
decision decades ago can be overlooked. This is an almost
historic opportunity to fill one of the absolutely vital holes
in any serious black and white HOF plaque collection. This
19th century HOF pitcher died in 1953, only four years
after getting inducted into the HOF. A special, special piece
that is completely fresh to the hobby. JSA LOA.

794 BW HOF Plaque Young, Cy 9.5.......................250
Slightly trimmed to match our consignor’s incredible 3x5
collection, this is otherwise quite clean. Signed very boldly
on the bottom border, a superb and flawless blue ink signature. Affordable example of a pricey piece. JSA LOA.
797 2004 Red Sox w/Pedro & Manny 9.5...................200
Very good piece, this is a 2004 Boston Red Sox signed jersey. This has 24 solid blue sharpie signatures from this truly historic team. The key is the perfect Pedro at the upper
right, who also added 04 Champs Reverse The Curse in his
own hand. Others keys include Manny Ramirez, Francona, Ortiz, Damon, Varitek, Mueller, Miller etc. This is notable as nearly all of the 2004 Boston Red Sox team signed
items that trade are from a show where Pedro Martinez
was not a guest, so he is missing from those pieces.
A special piece, especially with Pedro’s HOF induction this
year. JSA LOA.
795 Evers, Johnny 1939 HOF Cachet 9.5.....................600
Great piece, this is a perfectly clean 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 original
1939 Baseball Centennial cachet postmarked in Cooperstown. This is special as it offers a large, flowing and
simply awesome Johnny Evers autograph. Evers, famous
for being in the middle of the legendary Tinker to Evers to
Chance infield, died in 1947 at age 65 and is an extremely
difficult autograph, especially on single signed items. Absolutely ideal Johnny Evers signed flat has everything going
for it! JSA LOA.

sadly now deceased, Hernandez, Gooden, Strawberry,

right now. JSA LOA.

early Johnny VanderMeer, Frank McCormick and Lonny
Frey. JSA LOA.

801 1953 Yankees Vintage Signed
Special Menu (22 sigs)
9.5.......................500
Somewhat remarkable item, this is a large format (when
unfolded) menu for a dinner that was held on April 14,
1953 to honor the New York Yankees. The dinner was
titled New York’s Home of Champions and the cover has
images of various key figures in New York sports at the
time. The menu itself is likely quite scarce but this is so
special as it has been signed by no less than 22 members of
the Yankees. The signatures are invariably in large and superb blue fountain pen and are tremendous. Keys include
a gorgeous early Mickey Mantle, Casey Stengel (very uncommon on team signed Yankee items), Dan Topping (even
more unusual), Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Billy Martin, Bill
Dickey, Johnny Mize and Eddie Lopat. Great piece from
the Yankees at the height of their talents from this era (the
Yankees won their fifth straight World Series title in 1953).

798 Circa 1950 Cooperstown Program
w/Ty Cobb, Cy Young & More (15 sigs) 9...................1500
Great, great piece, this is a 10 x 8 Hall of Fame program
from around 1950. Spread out over two pages, these are
smartly matted and framed with Perez Steele postcards
of the five present baseball HOFers. Keys to this include
a very fine blue ink Cy Young, a large and especially nice
pencil Ty Cobb, a super bold blue ballpoint ink Dizzy
Dean, a superb Connie Mack in dark blue ink and a nice
pencil Ed Walsh. The other signatures include Roy Mack,
Charles Comiskey’s son, HOF officers, writers and such,
including Paul Kerr and related sports figures. Total size
26x20, this fairly unique program is a true conversation
stopper and eagerly awaits some much deserved wall space
in your office or home. JSA LOA.
