As the 2016 edition of the annual yearling
sales approach this month, it’s only fitting
that Harnessed flicks its way through the
pages of the catalogue in an attempt to
find some potential standout lots worth
keeping an eye out for.
Bear in mind that these are done without physically inspecting the yearlings
but are formed on history, breeding and opinion which at the end of the day
is 90 per cent of the dilemma that potential buyers face anyway. The other
10 per cent is, naturally, pure luck.
Call it a little light-hearted fun if you like. But don’t be offended if your
proposition isn’t in here. It might not be a bad thing…

credentialed mares offering their progeny. Crossed with the

Anyone on the lookout for a trotter to take home and
nurture into the future champion won’t be able to look past
Yankeedoosie’s first foal. The sister of outstanding trotter, I Can
Doosit was lightly raced with a view to maintaining her residual
value as a broodmare and it’s time for her owners to reap the
rewards of that decision. A colt by Majestic Son is offered up and
if he’s anything like pretty much all of his close relations then
you know he will win races. An outstanding trotting proposition.
Never mind the fact that Splendid Bet in her own right was a
very good racehorse, but this colt, her first foal, will have the
power of most successful family in harness racing behind him
when he walks into the ring. Mum’s siblings include; Christen
Me, Dream About and Hands Christian while Adore Me and
Have Faith In Me both appear on the page. Do we really need

The deeds of big brother, Classie Brigade, should help this
Bettor’s Delight colt knock down for a decent price. Out of
former Harness Jewels runner-up Trigirl Brigade this colt is sure
to be an early runner. The Mach Three broodmare cross with
Bettor’s Delight seems to work very well and while he won’t top
the sale, this colt will be the subject of many trainers attention
when he walks into the ring.
Another first foal from an outstanding mare, this time Group
One winner Twist N Twirl. A Sires’ Stakes Final winner and
a runner-up in both the NZ Oaks and the Breeders Crown
at 3 she’s got all the right attributes to be an outstanding
broodmare. From a family line that traces back to Impish, this
colt, by Rocknroll Hanover, will be high on everyone’s viewing
list and is a potential six figure colt based on his breeding alone.

Just by being Sky Major’s full-brother Sky Hunter demands a
second look. An Art Major colt who is a full brother to one of
our best pacers. You shouldn’t need much more convincing
to be fair. While the remainder of the family haven’t hit the
ground running like Sky Major has they have performed well
with Sky Falcon performing well. A proven family from a great
