A
mong the inspirational achievements
of the nineteenth century, none stands
out more clearly in its actual worth to
human progress than that of Samuel Colt, who as a
boy, in 1830, originated and made practical the idea
of six pistols in one - the Colt Revolver. But more
than all, the Colt has stood throughout the years an
emblem of protected right - an advocate of Law and
Order.
The first Colt revolvers were made at Paterson,
N.J., Arms Company and, two years later, the
so-called "Texas Pistol" was put on the market.
From that time until the present day Colts have
rendered valiant service in every American military
engagement beginning with the Seminole uprising
and throughout the World War.
However, it has been during times of peace that
Colts have meant most to the progress of America.
Colts in the hands of intrepid and determined
pioneers policed the far western plains and
mountains when the Mississippi river was virtually
the Western frontier of our nation. Colts brought
law and order to a vast empire which had been
overrun with renegades and rogues, helping to
make famous such inspiring names as Kit Carson,
Fremont, Buffalo Bill, Pawnee Bill, Wild Bill Hickok,
Pat Garrett, and Custer.

grade only of firearms and that of the highest possible
quality in design, material and workmanship.

is furnished to the United States Government
for Marine, Navy and Army Service, to police
departments and protective agencies the world
over is furnished to every user of Colt Revolvers
and Automatic Pistols. This is because every arm
turned out by the Colt organization is made on the
same machines by the same workmen, of the same
material and must pass the same forms of inspection
and test: Colt firearms are designed by men schooled
in the arts and traditions of building firearms for
a century, and many of the craftsmen doing and
inspecting the particular work of Colt manufacture
and assembly have been in the Colt organization for
fifty years or more.
How Colt Fire Arms are Made
Every bar of steel used in Colt Fire Arms
manufacture is compounded and rolled at the
Steel Mills in accord with Colt specifications.
Materials are not only carefully selected but are
subjected to the most scientific analyses and tests by
trained engineers and heat treated by expert metal
hardeners. Parts are micrometer gauged for absolute
accuracy, finishing operations carefully checked and
assembly of arms accomplished by expert workmen.
Finally, each arm is adjusted, proof tested, and shot
or targeted by experienced marksmen to determine
accuracy and exactness of operation, before it is
put through the final inspection and is entitled to
have stamped upon it the little triangular "Verified
Proof” mark.

Colt Standard of Inspection
The finishes given to Colt Revolvers and Automatic
Pistols result from years of experiment and
experience to produce the best possible plating and
blueing methods. The character of service demanded
of Fire Arms calls, not alone for unusual skill in
application of finishes but the best methods and
equipment, to insure maximum permanence of
finish.
This description of Colt Fire Arms manufacture
is certain to create a vivid impression of the
thoroughness that characterizes every act
performed in the Colt factory. It is only through this
unflagging attention to even the minutest details
that Colt's has attained and retained its leadership
in the Fire Arms industry since 1836.

CONSISTENCY
From the very first step, the journey
from forged blank to finished firearm
begins with consistency. The first grind
operation sets the standard from which
all Colt semi-automatic pistols are
manufactured. Grinding the forging to
a consistent thickness is step one in the
process in Colt’s 1911 style pistols.

O1991
The Colt 1991 Series is a direct descendant of the original Colt M1911. A long trigger, flat
mainspring housing and original style recoil spring system remain from the original M1911
design. Upgrades from the original include white dot sights and a lowered ejection port for
extra reliability. It still remains “the standard” that everyone tries to imitate, but no one
duplicates.

The Colt XSE Series features everything that top shooters demand in a pistol. The foundation
for these pistols is a forged receiver, a forged steel slide, a forged stainless steel barrel and
a forged steel slide stop. Front and rear slide serrations come standard along with Novak®
sights. The Colt Upswept Beavertail Grip Safety with Palm Swell and enhanced cut under

The new Colt .380 Mustang Pocketlite is small, lightweight and boasts enhanced
durability, reliability and accuracy, making it an ideal handgun for personal
protection. The precise machining process, use of high quality materials and
improvements in design make Colt’s new .380 Mustang Pocketlite one of the
most consistent and reliable firearms on the market. The aluminum alloy receiver,
stainless steel slide and barrel are CNC machined from solid bar stock for precise
tolerances. With a loaded magazine, this handgun weighs less than one pound. It
measures 5.5 inches long and has a 2.75-inch barrel. The minimal weight and length

More than 100 years ago, the Colt 1911 was chosen as the official sidearm for America’s
Armed Forces. Today, a Colt 1911 is once again proudly serving at the side of our country’s
military. After a rigorous selection process, the United States Marine Corps selected the Colt
Rail Gun as their Close Quarters Battle Pistol. This marks the first time since the end of World
War II that a Colt 1911 is being shipped to the United States Government.

The Colt 1911 still defines the standard for modern day semi-automatic pistols. The 1911 was the standard military sidearm from 1911 to
1985 and is still used by civilians, law enforcement and military forces today. The 1911 is the best known of John Browning designs to use the
short recoil principle in its basic design. In addition to the pistol being widely copied, this operating system rose to become the pre-eminent
design of the 20th century and used in nearly all modern centerfire pistols. It is popular with civilian shooters in competitive events such as

Engraving Coverage
Hand cut custom engraving can enhance the beauty
of a historical revolver or the sleek lines of a new
semi-automatic pistol. Level "A" provides one
quarter coverage, producing the effect of delicate
embellishment. Full coverage, Level "D", creates a
uniquely fully engraved decorative showpiece for any
collector. Level "B", half coverage and Level "C", three
quarter coverage offer engraving that will highlight
specifically chosen areas of the firearm such as the
cylinder of a revolver or the slide of a pistol.

HISTORY
The Colt Single Action Army® revolver is
undoubtedly the most famous handgun in
firearm history. From its early beginnings,
the Single Action Army revolver has held
its place as The Gun That Won The West and
today the tradition continues. The Single
Action Army is still made the traditional
way and passes through the hands of many
accomplished machinists and technicians
before meeting its final assembly by Ron

Introduced in 1873, no Colt revolver has earned greater fame than the Single
Action Army®, The Peacemaker®. In design and performance, in line and form, no
more sculptural and practical Colt has ever been created. Movies serve as constant
reminders of the role this equalizer played in winning the West.
Large numbers of knock-offs and look-alikes have never been able to replace
the real Colt. Records on the SAA Revolver are a Who's Who of action-oriented
Americans of the late 19th and early 20th centuries including Buffalo Bill Cody,
Theodore Roosevelt, Judge Roy Bean, Pawnee Bill Lilly, Captain Jack Crawford, Pat
Garrett and General George Patton.

COLT NEW FRONTIER®
The legend of Colt continues in the New Frontier, Single Action Army® revolver. From
1888 to 1895, Colt manufactured a variation of the venerable Single Action Army with
a uniquely different profile. The “Flattop Target Model” was fitted with an adjustable
leaf rear sight and a blade front sight. Colt has taken this concept several steps further
to bring shooters a reintroduction of a Colt classic. The New Frontier has that sleek

flattop design with a rear sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation along with
a target ready ramp front sight. The New Frontier is offered in .44 Special and .45 Colt

package are hand fitted walnut stocks with gold Colt medallions.

More than 175 years
ago, an obscure young
seaman, Calcutta bound,
carved a model of what
was destined to become
the world’s most
famous revolver
from a block of
wood. His name
was Samuel Colt,
and from the spark
of his inventive
genius, came the
modern firearms of today. One would have to search diligently through the pages of history to find a
more romantic and glamorous figure than Samuel Colt. His was the mind of a genius, a planner and a
dreamer, all in one. His vision was not local, but worldwide. His ambition exceeded mere prosperity
and power. Complete satisfaction could only be his when he had reached the pinnacle of his chosen
field. His own deeds and the life he lived have
immortalized him, and the products that still
bear his name are a constant tribute to his ability
and his resourcefulness. Samuel Colt’s effort to
market his inventions is a record of amazing
courage, ingenuity, and perseverance. That
one so young in years and so handicapped
by poverty and lack of prestige could prevail
against such odds is one of the marvels of
individual American enterprise.

SAFE HANDLING OF YOUR COLT FIREARM
Colt has long been committed to policies and practices that promote the responsible design,
distribution and sales of firearms to qualified, law-abiding citizens who seek to purchase and
use firearms for legitimate purposes in a safe and responsible manner. Those who purchase
and handle firearms have a responsibility to themselves and others to use firearms safely.
The Basic Firearm Safety Rules set forth below establish a foundation for gun safety. Please
remember, however, that these Rules are ONLY a starting point for the safe handling of
firearms within our community.
THOROUGHLY read the safety and instruction manual supplied with your firearm before
handling.
ALWAYS treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
IMMEDIATELY check to make sure that the firearm is not loaded before giving it to another
person.
ALWAYS check to make sure a firearm is not loaded when picking it up.
NEVER chamber a round until ready to shoot.
NEVER leave a loaded firearm unattended.
ALWAYS store unloaded firearms and ammunition in separately secured locations, so that
children and untrained adults cannot gain access to them.
NEVER point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot regardless of whether the
firearm is unloaded or on safety.
NEVER consume alcoholic beverages or mind altering drugs before or during the handling of
firearms.
ALWAYS make sure that the target and the area surrounding the target are safe before
shooting.
NEVER rely on the firearm’s safety mechanism and ALWAYS abide by safety rules regardless of
whether the firearm is unloaded or on safety.
ALWAYS make sure the barrel of the firearm is clear of obstructions according to the safety and
instruction manual.
ONLY place your finger on the trigger when you are actually aiming at a safe target and have
made the decision to fire.
ALWAYS use the proper ammunition for your particular firearm.
ALWAYS refer to the operation manual if your firearm fails to fire.
NEVER alter or modify your firearm.
NEVER shoot a firearm at hard surfaces or water.
NEVER transport a loaded firearm and ONLY load a firearm at the destination where you
intend to shoot.
ALWAYS properly maintain your firearm.
ONLY clean your firearm when you are absolutely sure the firearm is unloaded.
NEVER climb a tree, fence or obstacle with a loaded firearm.
ALWAYS wear appropriate ear and eye protection when shooting or observing.
