JV Owlettes Have Bright Future
The future appears to be bright
for the Owlette basketball team.
The squad will have a good
foundation of returning letter
winners from this years district
champions and a very soUd Junior
Varsity team.
The J. V. Owlettes, under the
direction of Jeri Been, suffered
only one loss during the 1998
season, 21-1, and captured the
district crown with an unblimlshed
mark of 10-0. The one loss by the
Owlettes was to Shallowater.
On the way to their successful
season, Been's J. v. five captured
toumament titles at the Hale
Center Uons J.V. Tournament,
defeating Hart, .Anton and
Lockney, and the Spade J.V.
Tournament with wins over
Roosevelt, Spade and Littlefield.
During the Spade Tournament a
trio of Owlettes were named to the
All Tournament Team. Winning
lndivldualtournamenthonorswere
Amber Hickman, Isabel Moralez
and Stephannte Williams.
. The powerful offensive team
averaged 5~ points a game. The
only time the opposition scored
over 40 points was In the 48-31
loss to Shallowater.
