Are you looking after your own wellbeing?
About the Green Exercise Project
We’re so busy living our lives that we can forget
to spend time doing things that make us feel good
about ourselves. Evidence shows that building the
following five actions into your day-to-day life will
help improve your wellbeing:
We’re here to help everyone get outdoors more,
to get a bit fitter and feel better through outdoor
activities.
Connect: With the people around you - with
family, friends, colleagues and neighbours.
Visit the Heathgate Community Centre to find
out what’s going on in the area.
Be Active: Go for a walk or run. Step outside.
Cycle. Play a game. Garden. Dance. Play
Pitch & Putt on Mousehold Heath. Exercising
makes you feel good.
Take notice: Be curious. Catch sight of the
beautiful. Savour the moment - reflecting on
your experiences helps you appreciate what
matters to you. Did you know that there are
19th century brick pits underneath the Gilman
Road Sports Field?
Keep learning: Try something new.
Rediscover an old interest. Sign up for that
course. Take on a different responsibility at
work. Learning new things makes you feel
more confident. Learning practical skills such
as tree planting is fun too.
Give: Do something nice for a friend, or a
stranger. Smile. Look out, as well as in. Why
not join a Green Exercise volunteer group
or help the Norwich Community Green Gym
improve the green spaces of Norwich.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing were developed by nef
(the new economics foundation).
We produce free walking maps for those of you who
like to explore on your own or with friends. We also
offer opportunities to join practical conservation
groups, for example tree planting or path building.

Map 1: Mousehold Heath, Norwich
Everyone is welcome, you don’t need any experience,
or to be very fit. Our friendly staff and volunteers will
tell you everything you need to know.
What are the walks like?
The sections of the walks on the Heath itself are on
unsurfaced paths and there are some steep slopes
and uneven surfaces.
There are steps on The Valley Drive Loop, Romany
Round and Kett’s Cave Circular.
Kett’s Cave Circular has steep slopes and rough,
uneven ground.
