And Away We Go!
Monday is the day!
Johnson City Family
Medicine goes live with
Allscripts on the 4th!
JCFM has been taking
advantage of all our
training opportunities
during the past several
weeks and months,
which made their EndUser Training much
more productive.
Last week, the JCFM
residents came to the
Downtown Center for
their training, and End
-User Training officially
began this week for the
staff and physicians.
Training was conducted
by our consultants from
EHR Evolutions—Jessica
and Dina—who have over
10 years’ experience with
Allscripts Enterprise.
Their knowledge has been
invaluable to the training
experience.
The biggest lesson
learned this week is
that it is crucial that
you get into the system
and practice before
your End-User Training.
Don’t wait until the last
minute!
“Name That Newsletter” Response
We had many great suggestions, and the choice was far too difficult for

Point and Click Medicine:
Patient Demonstration of the Electronic Health Record at MEAC
Dr. Rakesh Patel (JCIM) and your EHR TEAM presented a “Live Demonstration” of the Allscripts EHR
System during Grand Rounds at Stanton-Gerber Hall. Dr. Patel conducted a simulated patient encounter to
the audience. All documentation was recorded electronically — just as providers will be doing within the live
system after Go-Live. A thorough Question & Answer session followed. Thank you to all attendees.

“Thanks for the preview today. I
cannot wait till we get to start using
the system. I have been worried
that it was going to be complicated
to use, but after today’s test I’m very
excited. Enjoyed the presentation,
and you guys make a good team…
you know your stuff!!!
— Central Business Office, DTC
Question
Will the computer screen be bigger, easier to see?
Answer
Yes, the actual screen is larger than the webinar training. It
will be as large as your screen.
Question
After we click the patient status to “Physician Ready”, can we
re-enter the patient in the system later, after the physician
has finished?
Answer
Yes, you can re-enter the patient to add items like immunizations, history, etc.

...I talked with the office manager for
a doctor’s office here, and found out
how lucky we are. They are going to
EHR, and their live date is March 7.
The office manager has seen the
system once in her first training session last Thursday, and she has one
more before the live date. Employees get one training date. So thank
you, thank you, thank you for all your
help, training, and putting up with all
the stupid questions.

Road Trip
Medical Faculty Associates
(MFA) shared valuable information from their experiences with
implementation of the Allscripts
Electronic Health Record system.
Discussions included planning,
training, scanning, EHR-specific
policies, and much more. All
questions were addressed, and
everyone seemed particularly

interested in hearing “lessons
learned.”
The site visit included a facility
tour for focus groups — physicians, nursing managers, and
the EHR team.
We appreciate the generosity of
MFA. The knowledge gained
from this visit will greatly assist
QETSU as we move forward.

TIPS & Tricks ...suggested by MFA
During faculty meetings, make “Tips & Tricks” an agenda item. Set aside a couple of minutes in
each meeting, and ask providers to share something they recently discovered about the EHR system. Users will undoubtedly come across new and better ways to perform an operation, and they
can take the opportunity to share with peers. Great idea!
Help Desk Support. . .
As you begin using the system, you will undoubtedly run
into some questions. When you do encounter issues,
please follow the steps below:
Step 3: You may also get in touch with us by telephone at
423-282-6122.
Step 1: Ask your superusers. If you don’t know who your
superusers are, ask your office manager.
Step 2: Help Desk. If your superuser does not know the
answer, please contact us at [email protected] The Help
Desk automatically generates an email to the ENTIRE EHR
team, and we will respond as quickly as possible.
