countryside cruise drag racing event!
MCVO Presents…..
COUNTRYSIDE CRUISE
AND
DRAG RACING EVENT!
When: Saturday, May 16, 2015
Event Details: We will be meeting at the AMC Forum 30 in Sterling Heights
(Mound Road and M-59) at 10:00am. We will then cruise the countryside
through many small towns and farmland to find our destination at Ubly
Dragway in the heart of Michigan’s thumb! Those that choose to race will
engage in adrenaline-pumping ¼ mile competition! Ubly’s “Street Car
Shootout” will also be taking place so those that prefer to spectate, rest
assured there will be plenty of action! After everyone has had enough
excitement at the track, we will then head back south. Having worked up an
appetite at the track, we will be eating at the famous “Lucky’s Steakhouse” in
Imlay City. They are known for their great food and generous portions; be sure
to leave room for dessert!
Our drag racing event combines the passion from both performance-minded
members as well as our members that enjoy taking a spirited drive through
Michigan’s beautiful countryside! We hope that many sign up for this event!
It’s going to be a blast!
Additional Event Information
Ubly Dragway: $5 to spectate (per person), $25 to race (per driver per
vehicle). There is a small booth at the entrance to the track on the right, this is
where you will fill out an insurance waiver as well as pay for your entry into the
track. Be ready to pay with CASH ONLY. The track provides concessions
including burgers, dogs, fries, drinks, etc. They also allow outside food and
beverage so feel free to bring you cooler as well as portable chairs and a
camera! We will be eating lunch at the track so plan accordingly. There is a
bleacher sections but it’s a good idea to also bring folding chairs. Ubly typically
has a track photographer on-site taking photos of all the vehicles. His name is
Howard and you can approach him between runs to view the proofs and
purchase prints if you desire.
Racing Rules : Vehicle must pass basic safety inspection (no leaks onto track).
Driver must wear a helmet. Track does NOT provide helmets. Cars running a
11.50 or faster should have a roll cage. This depends in track leniency – not a
big concern with Ubly. Windows must be up during entire run. Take it easy on
your car – don’t forget you still have to drive it home!
Club Subsidy: Since this is a motorsports event, MCVO will subsidize the drag
racing participants via a $15 cash “refund” to each Viper that engages in ¼ mile
competition.
Signing Up: There will be multiple email blasts sent out so be sure to sign up
for this event so we can get an accurate headcount for the dinner. Deadline to
sign up for this event is Wednesday, May 13th.
Event Contact: MCVO’s Motorsports Director, Val Saph, is available if you have
any questions regarding this event. Feel free to call or text his cell phone at
