As the costs of energy goes up and up, this capacity is becoming more and more important. Jim also has been educated on the design and installation of photovoltaic electric generating systems. Jim has been a member of the National Fire Protection Association since the 1970s and has the knowledge and capability to install Fire/Life Safety systems. He spent over ten years employed by a nationally known fire alarm company troubleshooting field installation and failure problems and initiating systems after installation. E & C S Electric also installs commercial, industrial and residential low voltage communication and sound systems. E & C S offers free estimates. (This is located S. of Immanuel Lutheran Church on Sycamore Ave.) Roswell Mall Improvements: LaSalsa Restaurant opened inside the Mall and the owners are actively negotiating with some national retailers for in the Mall and outside on the out parcels, including a furniture outlet, a restaurant for the old Pasta Café and more... Nothing new to report. Out-Parcels for Sam’s & Wal-Mart: Ashley Furniture is looking to locate north of Wal-Mart at Pine Lodge and N. Main Street. A new strip plaza is going into the out parcel south of Sam’s and I will share more information as I learn it. Checker Auto is in front of the Sam’s Club and Starbuck’s has opened in front of the Wal-Mart SuperCenter. Nothing new to report. Roswell Regional Hospital: The General Contractor is waiting for the go-ahead to remodel the interior of the building on 19th Street, whose tenants will relocate into the Hospital. Once remodel work begins, reconstruction work will take about four months. Nothing new to report. (This is located 1-block east of Main Street on the north side of 19th) Berrendo Center I: The strip plaza work has been completed and Rue 21 has moved in next to Famous Footwear. This plaza also includes PetCo. The developer is working to complete the out parcel shell closest to Main Street for future tenants. Nothing new to report. (This is located south of the Rib Crib and north of the Berrendo River) Berrendo Center II: We met the architect and engineer on-site on 4-20-07 to discuss the new Berrendo Center II development. This will bring in Discount Tire, possibly a Blockbuster Video and other national and local retailers when built-out. We expect to see construction plans submitted for a Building Permit by late June or early July. Nothing new to report. (This is located south of the Berrendo River on the east side of North Main Street) New Burger King @ Old Post Plaza: Met with Burger King 4-10-07, they submitted an offer and as of 8-1-07, they are still working to locate between Hasting’s and Walgreen’s on N. Main Street. The developer is seeking retailers for Phases III & IV. Nothing new to report. (Located south of Walgreen’s across Main St. from NMMI) John Hinkle’s - ALL ABOUT SPAS: The building shell and rough-in work has been completed. The interior and exterior finish work is under way and they want to open in October. (Located on west side of north Main Street, just south of the Berrendo River) New Church’s Chicken in old Captain D’s: The owner wanted to be open for business at this location by July 31st, but with the lack of activity on this site, when they actually open is anyone’s guess. Nothing new to report. Alton’s Powerblock Gym: The building shell, interior framing and roughin work is complete and the interior finish work has begun, to be followed by the exterior finish work later this fall. (Located on the northwest corner of 13th Street & Virginia Ave.) Branch Cabinetry & Classic Expressions by Sandi: They are open; just remodeling to showcase the new line of cabinets. When finished, they will offer cabinets, kitchens, interior design services and quality appliances for discriminating homeowners. Nothing new to report. (Located at 1400 North Kentucky Avenue) Elite Fitness Center: The building shell, interior framing and rough-in work is complete and the interior finish work has begun, to be followed by the exterior finish work later this fall. (This is located on Atkinson Avenue, South of Country Club Road) A & W & Long John Silvers: This is back on the active list, with plans to locate on the southeast corner of Mescalero and Main Street in a new building. More to follow!!! Town & Country Family Fun Center: This is the Bowling alley on SE Main. The interior alterations and additions will add attractions like airconditioned Putt-Putt Golf. The owner is finalizing the bids and is doing what he can to try and begin the remodel work by October. Giangrasso Shopping Plaza: Work includes demolition of buildings and construction of the new plaza. Construction plans were approved and a Building Permit was issued. They want to begin demolition this month, followed by the new plaza construction. Nothing new to report. (This is located on the southwest corner of 13th Street and North Main Street) A New Hotel: A new hotel (Country Inn & Suites) is in the planning stages of development on the West side of North Main Street, across from the new Hampton Inn Suites. The owner has received approval for financing and is finalizing negotiations with the hotel chain. Conference Hotel T.B.A.: The Holiday Inn Express wants to build an 80 room extended living suites hotel with conference facilities to accommodate 50 to 100 people. The contract for purchase is being negotiated with a large national hotel chain. We should know more soon. (This is located west of the Holiday Inn Express next to the N.M.M.I. Golf Course) A New Sonic Drive-Thru: The Sonic property was purchased from the City on the south side of West 2nd Street and east of Monterey Shopping Center. They are redesigning the exterior and we expect to see plans for a Building Permit this month. Nothing new to report. (This is located on the south side of West 2nd Street, West of Sunset) New Medical Office Building - III: This is in the planning stages for a new medical office building to mirror the office building caddy-corner to the hospital. Nothing new to report. (Located on S. side of Country Club directly east of the New Medical Office Building - II) New Professional Office Complex: The site is cleared and plans are being developed. This office complex will utilize the natural topography in the design. Nothing new to report. (This is located on the northwest corner of 12th Street and Richardson Ave.) 1st National Bank Branch: The bank officials decided to build an ATM kiosk before building a new branch bank building. We should see plans for construction soon, and a new ATM should be located on this site by the end of the winter. (This is located on the Southwest corner of Berrendo Rd. and North Main Street) Featherstone Development Corp.: This organization demolished the old Navajo motel and F.O.P./Piggly-Wiggly grocery store on the northwest corner of 2nd Street and Union Avenue. The intent is to make this property more attractive to prospective developers. Nothing new to report. Candlewood Suites by I.H.G.: This Tractor Supply Company: Yes, the is a new hotel looking to locate on the northwest corner of Country Club Boulevard and Main Street. More information to follow as information comes in. Strata Production Company Complex: The Phase-I office building RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENTS: one and only is making plans to locate on N. Main Street on the west side, just south of Husky Road and Prices Truck Stop. More info to follow!!! has been completed and the owner has 4 9 new home Building Permits were issued in July, putting the number of homes under construction at 61. 90 UNIT - WILSHIRE GARDENS APARTMENTS: The framing work is in progress, the building shells are taking shape and the rough-in work is under way. (Located on the east side of Wilshire Boulevard, south of Mescalero Road) NORTH SKY AND EAST SKY ESTATES Subdivisions are being removed from this list since all of their lots have been sold and are being developed. Great news! United Blood Services EDEN LAND DEVELOPMENT – This includes 400 single family housing units; 250 market-rate apartments; a gated luxury community with water features, trails and parks; an upscale commercial retail shopping center; and, professional offices to be built out by 2015. Dedication will be held on 9-14-07 at Noon on the corner of 19th Street and Montana/Union Ave. TIJMOR Subdivision – The developer has grubbed the site and will continue the site grading work and installation of the utilities, streets, curb and gutter, throughout September and October. (Located on the Northwest corner of Atkinson Ave. and Country Club Road) FEATHERSTONE FARMS – DELTA WEST Subdivision – Featherstone now has 41 lots available and ready for development at Featherstone Farms and 3 lots still available in Delta West, where there are now 5 homes under construction and 4 lots in the planning stages. (Located west of Washington, between Berrendo and Mescalero) LA PLACITA Subdivision – Eight (8) new units (4-duplexes) are under construction in this 28 lot subdivision. The utilities and main through-streets are installed. Nothing new to report. (Located on the southwest corner of Atkinson and Mescalero) TUSCANY Subdivision – Construction of the units is well under way. 28 lots are available with 10 under construction (5-duplexes). Nothing new to report. (Located south of Mescalero Road and west of Kentucky Avenue) ENCHANTMENT WEST Subdivision - all Phase–I lots and 18 Phase-II lots are sold, with 26 homes finished or under construction. More Phase-II lots available. Nothing new to report. (Located west of Mullis Ave. between 8th Street and College) LA SIERRA Subdivision – 10 lots sold, 17 are available and 2 homes are under construction. (Located on Montana/ Nothing new to report. Union between 19th and Country Club) BRIAR RIDGE Unit-B Subdivision – 2 units finished (1-duplex), 2 units under construction and 3 pad sites are prepped for construction with 17 lots available. (Located inside the Briar Ridge Subdivision, South and East of the Roswell Country Club) OTHER NEW DEVELOPMENTS: The Alien Apex Resort Theme Park RFP opening date was August 14th, and 11 of 37 RFP’s sent out were submitted as proposals. The Selection Committee has been meeting to evaluate the 11 proposals to select the successful firm to perform the professional business services needed to prove the financial feasibility of the Alien Theme Park. There is a lot of worldwide excitement about this project from the professional business management firms and the companies that do the actual theme park construction. We hope to have the successful firm selected sometime this month. 5 EASTERN NEW MEXICO MEDICAL CENTER APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Roswell, N.M. (September 20, 2007) Eastern New Mexico Medical Center (ENMMC) and its board of trustees announced today the selection of Bradley K. McGrath as the new chief executive officer. McGrath, currently the CEO at Carlsbad Medical Center (CMC), will begin his new role at ENMMC on September 27. A healthcare veteran, McGrath, 55, has held senior management positions for the past 27 years, most recently at CMC and prior to that in Florence, Ala.; Las Cruces, N.M.; and Newport News, Va.. McGrath is also experienced in human resources management and labor relations. He holds a doctoral degree in law from the University of Oregon and a bachelors degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is very proud to be a family man. He and his wife, Ana Luisa, have three children, Alexander and Alexandra, both age 7, and Isabella, age 3. Some of McGrath?s achievements at CMC include: ɶɶ Recruitment of 32 physicians specializing in neurology, cardiology, family practice, gastroenterology, internal medicine, otolaryngology, vascular surgery, and medical oncology. ɶɶ Implementing CMC?s hospitalist program. ɶɶ Leading a $12 million expansion to house a new ICU, outpatient diagnostic center and sleep studies lab. ɶɶ Installation of advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities, including a 64-slice CT scanner and digital picture archiving system. “I am very excited about the opportunity I’ve been offered to join the leadership team of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center,? said McGrath. ?I look forward to working with the Roswell community to provide the excellent patient care and leading-edge technology that are characteristic of this regional medical center. I will continue to work closely with CMC and our other sister hospitals in New Mexico to provide the best care possible to the people in our communities.? He added, ?ENMMC truly is at the core of the community and I am dedicated to continuing the hospital?s strong tradition of community involvement and support.? The new Leadership Roswell 7 PRESIDENT’S CLUB “REDCOATS” COAT TALES The President’s Club “Redcoats” had a very exciting September. We started the month out welcoming American Airlines to Roswell, with the American Eagle Inaugural Flight on Wednesday, September 5th. And I know that each one of us were just as excited as the rest of the citizens of Roswell to see this major airline fly into our fair city. September 7th, we had the honor of congratulating the ILEA graduates from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Romania and the Ukraine. On Friday, September 14th we were able to attend the groundbreaking of the new Sorrento Subdivision at the corner of Montana and Country Club. This project will be a wonderful new addition to the City of Roswell. September 19th, we had the pleasure of welcoming the new ILEA delegates from the countries of Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru at Roswell National Bank, who hosted the welcoming reception.
