July 18, 2014 JULIAN’S PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWS ….to be outstanding in every aspect, pushing the boundaries of excellence….. Issue no 38 18th July 2014 We are saying goodbye to Tom who will be relocating to Cheltenham, Alice who will be travelling to Hong Kong to work in an international school, Darren who will be leaving to travel and Anna and Verity who will be leaving to take up teaching posts in other Lambeth schools. We are grateful to all of them for all their hard work for our school and wish them all the best for the future! Our Year 6 children performed like stars to an audience of parents/carers, ex pupils, staff and friends of the school. Year 6 performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory The performances were truly wonderful with many, many highlights. We were treated to a fantastic production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Wednesday 16th July 2014. 1 July 18, 2014 JULIAN’S PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWS It was especially wonderful to see the children perform with such energy and enthusiasm, in spite of the heat!. The final performance was a real testament to all their hard work and commitment. My personal thanks to ~ Alice and Nikki who have worked tirelessly on the production over the past few weeks to make it such a success! Charlene who helped to create the set and was behind the scenes on the day and during rehearsals to help the production come together… Ed for writing the script and helping with the direction of the play, for arranging the music, teaching the songs and playing the key board together with his very own live band on the night… Tom for building the set and fixing everything that broke and for being in charge of the sound on the performance day….. Andy for managing the box office….. July 18, 2014 JULIAN’S PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWS A message from the PTFA…. site at the end of the day and/or from after school clubs. St Luke’s before and after school provision will now move for a limited time period to the West Norwood school site for West Norwood children. Before school care will run from 7.30am in the morning until the start of the school day and after school until 6pm. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents, carers, staff and children who gave up their time to help with the organisation of the Summer Fair and worked so hard on the day. We would also like to thank all those who so generously donated food, cakes, gifts and raffle prizes for the Fair. It was a great success and raised an incredible £4,452.14 for the school. The list of raffle winners is in the office, so please check to see if you are one of the lucky winners! We are pleased to announce that the PTFA will be funding a theatre trip for the whole school in the Autumn term with the funds raised. Thank you, Julian's PTFA West Norwood and Streatham before and after school care news! Barbara has confirmed that before and after school care will continue in September for both the West Norwood and Streatham sites. She has informed us that she will be running a breakfast club from 7.30am each morning at St Peter’s church on Leigham Court road for Streatham children. Barbara and her team will walk the children from St Peter’s to the Dunraven site in the morning and collect from the Dunraven 4 Costs will be £5 for breakfast club and £12/£14 per day for after school provision depending on whether your child attends full or part time. Please contact Barbara on 07910272319 or Ann on 07950339212 if you are interested. School Dinners Please note that as of September 2014 school dinners will cost £2 per day. This is in line with all of our South Lambeth School Partners. We shall be moving to a new provider ISS in September and have employed a head chef between the SLSP schools, so we look forward to an improved meal service for all of our children.
