Spring 2012
Cody Withey #67- 7th overall
Open A, 14th in Pro-Am
After such a successful weekend in Tennessee at the last
event, Cody was hoping to follow it up with another overall for Round
#3 at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris Pa. Unfortunately some bad
luck prevented Cody from another podium appearance with a mishap
on the gate during the holeshot, that caused the #67 Baldwin
Motorsports Honda to have to charge from last place through the pack
on a track that was all but impossible to pass on. Withey played the
cards that he was dealt and did everything that he could in order to
gain valuable points, and with a stronger showing in Moto 2 with
some intense battles, was able to secure a respectable 7th overall and
keep him in contention for the Open A championship.

Conditioning and mental preparedness
are two hugely important factors in
motocross racing, and both go hand
and hand together. Often times,
without one, you cannot have the
other, and we are expecting #67 to
go home motivated to work hard and
come back swinging for Sunset Ridge!
Lady luck wasn’t very nice to Cody in Pro-Am either, as a great
holeshot had the crowd buzzing in Moto 1 all to be erased by a
collision caused by another racer that literally caved in his Baldwin
exhaust and locked the two bikes together, allowing valuable
positions and points to squeak by. Cody would ride the rest of the
race consistently and was not forced to DNF, which allowed him a
conservative 14th overall in what has now been dubbed the most
competitive ATV Racing class in the word!

Spring 2012
Sean Mitchell Salvages
Points
A great effort after a nasty crash in training
keeps Mitchell in the points.
A week before round #3, Mitchell suffered a potential
season ending injury during a crash practicing in Canada. After Xrays revealed no obvious fractures in his back or foot, and some
down time, the #177 Walsh Racecraft pilot decided he was well
enough to race in order to salvage points.
Saturdays +25 Moto started off with the Walsh Hybrid
rocketing Mitchell up the infamous High Point uphill holeshot
into a 3rd place postion where he battled for second for 2 laps
and eventually got tangled up with 2 riders. Once again Lady luck
wasn’t with the Canadian fellas as Sean fell off the pace near the
end, but battled through for a 7th place Moto-1 finish in a very
intense class. Moto 2 would prove fairly uneventful for Sean as
he did what he could to keep his championship points alive and
salvage a respectable 6th overall for the weekend!
“I had ups and downs all weekend, but I am happy with
how it turned out all things considered.. There weren’t many
people that liked the track, but we definitely got lucky
considering the amount of rain that fell.” Mitchell is remotivated and is looking to “go to work” in these two weeks
leading up to round 4 and reclaim his place on the podium.
The Mountain Dew AMA Nationals once again is proving
to be a war of attrition, and the Canadian ATV Team is looking to
win the war. Victories aren’t necessarily measured in wins and
losses. In a single race weekend a racer can have dozens of
individual victories that build up confidence and lead to victories
such as wins. The goal of The Canadian ATV Team is to progress
and become better racers, better persons, and a better team,
and we certainly are moving in the right direction.. See ya in
Illinois!

Progression is the name of the game
for Sean Mitchell, and Round 3 proved
once again that he is willing to ride
through injuries in order to better
himself. Sean knows exactly what he
needs to do in order to start racking
up some overalls, so don’t be
surprised to hear some podium
interviews with Rodney in the near
future.
