GUARDIANS OF GOD’S CREATION
"We give thanks to you O God; we give thanks." Psalm 75:1 ...
... all praise to you Lord for pushing the clouds aside and allowing the sun to shine warm and loving on the Blessing of the Animals in honour St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day. A very special thank you
to Fr. Wayne for his faithful support, his kind and patient heart, and his joyful laughter.
Praise to you Lord for all your blessings!
This year, besides the human kind, we had 12 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 ferrets. All those unable to attend or
not among us anymore were also included in the blessing. Once again, everybody behaved very well.
Sherlock and Holmes (the ferrets) never left their cage, but that was understandable since there were no
murder mysteries to be solved. Mishka was probably the most inquisitive and popular of the canine
kind.
Thank you Karen, Marina and Neil for the beautiful music. Thank you Adam for your eloquent reading
of the "Canticle of the Creatures" by St. Francis of Assisi - you looked very good in your Franciscan
garb. Thank you Stefan for helping setting up. Thank you Chriss and Orsi the "baking queens" for your
delicious desserts. Thank you for your labour of love - the auroras and ambrosia are truly divine. Thank
you Lorena for the delicious prunes and blackberries. Thank you Emily for preparing tea and coffee... a blessing gone straight to
Heaven! Thank you Ursie for always being there. Special thanks to my most beautiful and keen helper - Dinga. You rock girl !!
Finally, thank you to my best friend, my rock, my generous husband who understands and supports my calling to be a Guardian of
God's Creation
After the service all enjoyed light refreshments in the hall. Delightful! Happy and
Yummy treats were also enjoyed by our furry friends thanks to the generosity of Garry from Bone Apétit .
Thank you to all who attended for your generous support of the SPCA, your donations were greatly appreciated.
"... pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, endurance, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith...guard what has been
entrusted to you. Grace be with you."
I Timothy 6:11,12,20,21

Elijah and the Steer
The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the
Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar,
put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces and laid it upon the altar.
And then Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and
pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times. ―Now,‖ said the teacher,
―can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over
the steer on the altar?‖
A little girl in the back of the room raised her hand with great enthusiasm.
―To make the gravy!‖ came her enthusiastic reply.
