Back to School:

All parents have concerns
about their children’s education
and rightfully so. We all have
questions, such as, “Is my child
getting the instruction that he/
she needs?” or “Are my children in the best environment
possible in their most formative
years?” As an educator of ten
years, I ask myself the same
questions about the type of education I would want my child

During the day, for my
income, I work selling coffee
and cappucinno products to
various businesses throughout Lincoln County.
I was in a small store that
was busy with customers and
as I was cleaning the cappucinno machine, I was listening to the store owner interact
with the people. When the
group cleared, I told the merchant that I was impressed by
the way she treated her customers. She was polite, informative, helpful, and efficient.
She thanked me for noticing,
and then proceeded to tell me
that not all of her customers
were so nice.
There was an older man
who came in the other day,
she said, who wanted to rent

a crab pot. She started the
process and told the gentleman that there would be a $60
deposit for each crab ring.
The fellow began to get upset.
“$60? That’s rediculous”, he
says. “Why, I can go down
to the local box store and
buy one for $30.” The store
owner explained that these
crab rings were not the same
as the ones available through
the mentioned store, and that
if they lose one of these, they
have to pay $60 to replace
it. “Well, I’m not paying a
$60 deposit”, said he. And he
keeps it up.
“You know what”, says the
merchant...”these crab rings
are no longer for rent”.
“ What?” says the man?
“I no longer want to rent to
you”, she says. “These crab
rings are no longer for rent”.
Wait a minute, “I do want to
rent a crab pot”, he says. And
he calmed down, and his attitude suddenly changed.
And I thought to myself,
someday, it will be like this
for people who stubbornly
and consistently reject the
kindess and mercy and forgiveness of God. There will
be a day when it will be too
late. What a terrible day that
will be.
Please do not be one of the
stubborn ones. Don’t be so
proud in yourself that you
keep rejecting the Living God
who one day will judge all of
humankind.

his call to be a pastor. He

Oregon where our youngest
ran in a 1/2 marathon. After
cheering with the crowds at
the finish line, it was on to
the mountains of Idaho for
more vacation time. I had
somehow tweaked my back a
week earlier, and so I was the
fussy one ---despite multiple
games of Madlibs--- stopping
to buy Tylenol and sometimes
needing help getting out of
the car, and using “icy-hot”
packs during the ride. I was
ready to relax!
Because of a late departure after the marathon and of
my aforementioned pain, we
changed plans and stayed at
Scott’s mom’s home; Miriam
was already with her daughters in the mountains. Oh,
the sweetness of Grandma’s
house. Though the hour was
late, Emily promptly set about
showing photos of family,
educating her new husband
about the clan. After sleep
and bowls of cold cereal the
next morning we headed for
McCall, ID. A boat ride on
Payette Lake was in store for
our family, which they loved
(I opted out, but happy to visit
in the spacious vacation home
of Scott’s little sister and
her husband). A homemade
gourmet barbeque followed...
ahhh, the life. After dark
we made our way to nearby
Camp Stover, Scott’s childhood church camp, where we
had arranged to spend a night.
The small, rickety bed was
amazingly comfortable, and
Scott and I slept wonderfully.
Scott later said it must have
been the quietness and peace
there. Tall pine trees and dusty
ground dotted with wildflowers; the rustic cabins; and
gurlgling Goose Creek make
up the setting. But it is not
just the beauty and memories
that makes old Camp Stover
special. To think of all the
prayers and worship that have
been offered there (since the
1920’s) and the ever-listening
ears and blessing of God....I
beleive that is all a part of it.
During our camp visit,
we stopped for coffee in
the home of the husband of
Scott’s cousin. It turned out
to be another rich time, listening to Gil’s testimony (a
lad originally from Colombia,
and living on his own in NY
as a teenager, and his conversion from Buddahism to
Christianity later). He and his
wife hope to bring a revitalizing of faith of sorts to the dear
campers and residents of the
area. We all joined in prayer
for one another. “Encourage

answer surprised and inspired
me. That day I clearly understood my calling. From that
day I have been consumed to
serve.
“Based on the gift you have
received, everyone should use
it to serve others, as good
managers of the varied grace
of God. If anyone speaks, his
speech should be like the oracles of God; if anyone serves
, his service should be from
the strength God provides, so
that in everything God may be
glorified through Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory and power
forever and ever. Amen.”
I Peter 4:10-11.
God has placed a consuming fire inside of us to serve
others. However, in this selfserving world in which we
live, it is too easy for us to
quench the fire with a “me
first” mentality. The Apostle
Paul daily crucified the flesh of
self service so that his burning
desire to serve others would
remain the forefront of his
mind. This passion to serve
must come from the heart of a
crucified self
I see serving God as serving
my wife, children, grand children, church, wrestling team,
or total stranger. I constantly
look for ways to serve others.
It truly is a consuming passion
in my life. It is the way God
has used me and taught me to
draw others into his kingdom.
The world will only know
the love of God by seeing how
we Christians love one another. In my passion to serve,
I’ve planted a sinner’s orchard,
chased a sinner’s boor hog
around a pen to get him into an
awaiting truck, babysat a sinner’s kids, managed a sinner’s
motel so he could take his
wife on a date, poured a sin-
ner’s drink, washed a sinner’s
dishes, built a sinner’s house,
fixed a sinner’s car, tied a sinner’s shoes, mowed a sinner’s
lawn, sat by a sinner’s bedside
as he took his last breath.
The Jesus our world will
see is the Jesus inside of us.
There is no greater joy than
the privilege of serving others
with the love of God. Let us
rise above our generation of
selfishness and become consumed with a passion to serve
others.

the ground and trees. Another
great time of enjoying God’s
creation again.
With fall upon us, I am
thankful to be able to have
gotten away for relaxation
and a fresh perspective of
things--- and to find out what
God has for me next.

What is Winds of
Praise?
O
ur primary goal is
to encourage people to worship God,
in the name of Jesus
Christ, every day, 24
hours a day. We do this
primarily through the
broadcast of contemporary (modern) praise
and worship music. We
have live DJs at specific
times throughout the
day. We have time available for the rebroadcast
of local church sermons
and Bible teachings. We
are not from any one
denomination, but work
with many people from
many Christian denominations and groups.

“That’s not what our family
does.” These words were spoken by Ed Wheeler when he
and wife, Charla were raising
their kids. Ed is Worship Pastor
at Newport Naz, and Charla is
the pianist. The Wheeler’s four
offspring are living Christian
lives today, and serving the
Lord. I asked Charla, “Just
how do you raise committed
Christian kids in today’s semi
pagan society?” She graciously filled three pages with two
thousand words of thoughts
and remembrances. And I’m
supposed to condense them to
four hundred words! Sheesh!
I think the best paragraph
was about developing a philosophy. How preemptive!
How brilliant! To have a head
start deciding what kind of
people she wished to raise is
HUGE. Today the Wheelers
reap the benefits of that early
philosophy. “For I have no
greater joy than this, to hear
of my children walking in
the truth.” 3 John verse 4.
Charla began with the
firstborn cooing in the crib.
Reading that babies sleep
twenty hours per day, she
kept kid-one awake four
hours during the day so night
hours were only for sleeping.
She said for the most part it
worked (some say it doesn’t
always). Brave mother, this.
Just imagine the criticism
that aroused. Ditto when she
and Ed decided to homeschool their kids (she’d heard
the usual objections and did
it anyway). Today these “pitiable” kids have advanced
degrees, good jobs, serve the
Lord, are critical thinkers, and
are accomplished musicians!
Here’s
more
about
”Raising Christian Kids.”
Talk and Listen AKA
Discuss. When her kids
wanted to watch a TV show
about which she had misgivings, Charla agreed to allow
it, but she would also watch
it. During commercials, discussions ensued such as,

their tribe and their family.
Rita Eaglehead, a granddaughter of Dr. Salmon, was present at
the Siletz potlatch and played a
part in the festivities. She told
some of the history of her people.
She shared her heart with us.
Some of the ministry folks
who showed up were:
Battleaxe
Ministries—Rita
Eaglehead
Firestarter Ministries—Pat and
Gary Walker
Winds of Praise Broadcasting—
Scott and Kelli Albright
Soaring Eagle Ministries—Lura
and Gang
Sacred Ground Baptist Church—
Rick and Sherry Russell
Messenger Ministries—Dan and
LaRita Lundy
Drumspeaker to the Nations—
Jerry and Leslie Chapman
There were others. I apologize for not listing them but
my memory is a little slow
right now.
Perhaps I’m
not as young as I once was.
Jesus sent lots of help to this
gathering. People served as security, kitchen staff, administative
staff, set-up, tear-down, gift distribution and prayer. There was
prayer of intercession, healing
and peace.
In speaking for myself, I can
say that this gathering was gratifying and tiring. It was good.
It was historic, another first for
Sacred Ground and Messenger
Ministries.
LaRita and I will put our
concentration back on the
boat now. Hopefully we will
be going north soon. That
is up to our Creator Jesus to
decide for His timing is perfect.
To the Kosydar family, thank
you for the wonderful beef.
Many were fed. To Marvin
Reid, thank you for the salmon.
We loved every bite of it. To
all who gave and served, thank
you. The Lord has taken note of
your service to Him and to His
people. Blessings to all.
“What are they trying to
teach you here?” That didn’t
turn out to be so enjoyable,
so the show was given up.
Teamwork. Ed and Charla
agreed on major decisions.
Be Educated. Charla had
worked in a preschool, so children were no mystery. She also
read every Dr. James Dobson
book such as Dare to Discipline
and listened to his radio show,
“Focus on the Family.” She
read Dr. Raymond and Dorothy
Moore’s books like Home
Grown Kids. The Bible was
always a source of wisdom.
Accentuate the Positive,
Eliminate the Negative.
Remember that song from
the forties? That was Charla’s
manipulative genius regarding choices of friends. She
encouraged and invited friends
with positive values and influence, and closely monitored
relationships of the other kind.
Humility. They called upon
the Lord for His promised
help. The Wheeler four were
steeped in Bible truths, whether through home schooling
curriculum, church involvement, or family devotions.
“That’s what this family did,” Charla told me. A
fine template that worked.
Congratulations!

Looking Forward to Getting to Heaven - Mirando Adelante Llegar al Cielo
By Donna Popovich
Pastor, Worship and
Healing Center,
Lincoln City
I recently ran across an
encouraging message on reasons why heaven is going to
be FUN. Sharing this with
you is fun for me too.
Hace poco que me encontré un mensaje en rasones
porque el cielo va ser tiempo
de diversión. Me divierto en
compartír con ustedes tambien.
Have you looked forward
to a special day or time, vacation or a holiday? You find
yourself anxiously awaiting
the appointed time to arrive,
don’t you? Driving to the
airport is fun because you are
going somewhere, having a
check in your hand and going
to the bank is fun, going
to the doctor to hear your
baby’s heartbeat is fun.
¿Han esperado un día
o tiempo especial, como
vacaciónes o día de fiesta?
¿Esperan con anticipación
que llege el tiempo, verdad?
Manejando al aeropuerto es
diversión porque vas alguna
parte, teniendo un cheque
en la mano y ir al banco
es diversión, ir al medico a
oir el latido de tu bebe
es diversión.
But sometimes, there is
not much joy seen in our
eyes or heard in our voice.
Sometimes it is hard to keep
that bounce in our steps. We
need something to keep us
going, something to look
forward to, a hope that can
never perish, spoil or fade
away.
Pero a veces no hay gozo
en nuestros ojos o en nuestras voces. A veces es difícil
tener el animo en nuestros
pasados. Necesitamos algo
que nos da animo para segir,
algo que esperar, una esperanza que no se desaparece,
estropece o que no se desvanecer.
Those of us who have a
personal relationship with the
Lord Jesus Christ, know that
this world is not our home, we
are just passing through. We
are headed home, HEAVEN,
and it is going to be fun
Nosotros que tenemos
relación
personal
con
Jesucristo, sabemos que este
mundo no es nuestra casa,
nomas estamos pasando
por aqui. !Vamos a nuestro
hogar, al CIELO y nos vamos
a divertir!
Just think about these
points about getting to heaven:
Nomas piensen en estos
puntos del cielo:
1. We get a new body! Our
earthly body gets tired, feels
pain, gets sick, and with age,
moves slower, sags, our eyes
dim, and things fall out, like
hair and teeth. In heaven,
we get a new body, a better
one, an eternal one, one that
doesn’t get tired, feel pain,
get sick or fall.
1. ¡Recibemos un cuerpo
nuevo! Nuestro cuerpo de
este mundo se cansa, siente
dolor, se enferma, mueve mas
despacio, y con edad se cae,
nuestros ojos boran y cosas
se caen, como el pelo y los
dientes. En el cielo recibemos un cuerpo nuevo, uno
que no se cansa, siente dolor,
enferma, o cae.
2. We’ll get to live in a
custom made house! Yes, a
perfect house created by God
especially for us. No leaky
faucets, walls that need painting, roofs that need repair.
2. ¡Podemos vivir en casa
construida especialmente
para nosotros!
Si, casa perfecta, creada
especialmente por Dios. No
hay grifo que tiene fuga,
paredes que necesitan pintar o techos que necesitan
reparos.
3. We’ll get to eat deli-
cious food! Imagine eating
all our favorite foods, laid out
buffet style, with no waiting
lines and no check to pay.
3. ¡Podemos comer comida deliciosa! Imaginensen
comiendo toda nuestra comida favorita, como estilo buffet, sin lineas de esperar y
sin cheque para pagar.
4. We get to talk with
Bible characters! We’ll get
to ask David what it was
like to fight Goliath, Noah
what is was like building the
ark, Mary about being Jesus’
mom. Who are you looking
forward to talking to?
4. !Podemos hablar con
carácters de la Biblia!
Podemos preguntarle a
David que como fué peliar
con Goliat, a Noé que como
fué cuando construó el arco
o a Maria que como fue
ser la mama de Jesus. ¿Con
quien esperas hablar tu?
5. We’ll get to see and
speak with our loved ones!
I’m looking forward to talking with my family and
friends that have gone on
before me. And we will all be
kind and loving!
5. ¡Podemos ver y hablar
con nuestros queridos! Yo
espero hablar con mi familia y amigos que se fueron
antes de mi. !Y todos seremos
amables y amandonos!
6. We’ll get to live in a
perfect world! Heaven will
be a perfect place to live.
Creation which has suffered
because of the fall of man
will be restored for mankind.
Paradise will be regained.
6.
!Podemos vivir en
mundo perfecto! El cielo va
a ser el lugar perfecto. Toda
creación ha sufrido por la
caida de hombre. Paraiso
será recuperado.
7. Heaven is going to be
a place of the ‘’no mores!”
No more poverty, hunger,
thirst, scorching heat, freezing cold, crying pain, bad
guys, impure things.
7. !El cielo va ser lugar de
“no mas”! No mas probesa,
hambre, sed, calor de quemadura, frio glacial, dolor
lloroso, hombres malos,
cosas impuras.
8. When we get to heaven, it will be the last time
we fall! We live in a fallen
world. Do you find yourself
doing the things you don’t
want to do and not doing the
things that you want to do?
In heaven, we will fall for the
last time...we will fall to our
knees to worship at the feet
of God.
8. ¡Cuando llegamos al

cielo será la ultim ves que
nos caemos! Vivemos en
mundo caeido. ¿Te encuentras haciendo cosas que no
quieres hacer y no haciendo
las cosas que quieres? En
el cielo nos caemos por la
ultima ves...nos caemos a las
rodillas para alabar a los
pies de Dios.
9. In heaven, we will
take part in awesome worship! Don’t you love great
worship? Worship full of
energy, excitement, smiling
faces, lifted hearts and hands.
Worship in heaven is going
to be out of this world!
9. !En el cielo, particiemos en alabanza fabulosa!.
¿Amas a la alabanza llena de
alegría? Alabanza llena de
energia, emoción, caras sonriendo, manos y corazones
levantados. !La alabanza
del cielo será fuera de este

...BUT, here I sit,
a “stay-at-home dog”. I
know I am a comfort to
Kelli, as she truly has
an empty nest now, with
both daughters out of
the household. (By the
way, don’t ask me about
the term “empty nest”....I
have never seen any of
my family fly or eat bird
seed...we will just leave it
at that...I think they need
to get out more. Guess
that is why they take
vacations). “...this is the
resting place, let
the weary rest;

and it calmed them immediately. The teachings of Biblical
principles are missing in
today’s schools. These are the
principles that allow children
to learn how to better cope with
life’s difficulties. Katie Marks,
a ninth grader at MCCS states,
“At a Christian School you get
Bible teachings, Bible journal
writing, and prayer. God is the
center of education...”
No matter what parents are
looking for in a school, it is
important to weigh the pros
and cons of every available
option. There has never been
a time in history when it has
been so vital to consider the
type of education that children
are receiving. Curriculums are
changing, standards are evolv-
ing, and the atmosphere in
school is not what it once was;
let us consider what is best for
our children’s future.

could’ve stretched out on
the three laps in the back
seat, and enjoyed all of
the car snacks, keeping
the area crumb-free. If
the A/C was too much
for somebody, I could’ve
kept them warm. I could
have listened for rattlers
in the Riggins area and
barked them away. And,

uh oh...hopefully, the bear
would have thought I was
one of them, and I would

What’s happening in and
around Newport reaching out to
teens.
“Never stop praying, especially for others.” Ephesians
6:18a (CEV)
September marks the
restart of many of the youth
groups and outreach activities
associated with the beginning
of school. Newport Nazarene
Youth Group will kick-off
with a “Back to School Bash”
on Wednesday, September
17th from 6-7:30 pm at 227
NW 12th street. Call Andrew
at 541-265-6684 for more
details.
Although HangTime has
continued throughout the
summer, Saturday, September
13th marks an epic event
you won’t want to miss!
HangTime continues to offer
a safe, no-pressure environment to hangout with friends
for teens (13-19) at the House
of Refuge, 310A NW Gilbert
Way, Newport, from 7:30pmmidnight. Youth enjoy free
food, movies, games, and hot
tub. This will also be the only
HangTime event this month
(normally every two weeks).
Come celebrate the start of
the new school year by inviting as many new and old
friends as possible-a prize
for the person who brings
the most new people to join
the fun! Remember this is
OUTREACH…so teens who
know Christ should be inviting students who don’t yet
have a relationship with Jesus
Christ to come with them.
This will also be a potluck-so
tune up those culinary skills
and bring something to share.
Don’t like to cook, no problem…just come enjoy lots of
the usual fare-pizzas, snacks,
and sodas. If you have a birthday in September, let Carol
know so we can celebrate it
with friends at HangTime!!

See You At The Pole (SYATP)
has become a regular event in
our community. This student
led event encourages students to “ask the Lord how
prayer might change them,
their schools, their communities…their world. And then
do it. From the first year in
1990, See You At The Pole
has been about one simple
act-prayer. Today, SYATP is
still about students humbling
themselves, turning to God,
and interceding for their generation. Not just pray, but
seek His face, and turn from
sin. It’s not just a day. Global
Week of Student Prayer
September 21-27, 2014,
encourages students to find
new and unique ways, places,
and times to pray throughout
the week. At the center of the
week, on Wednesday,
September 24th students will meet at their
high school flag pole
for corporate prayer
and worship about
30-45 minutes before
their first class joining
other students around
the globe praying for
their school, friends,
families, churches,
and communities. This
year’s theme follows
Paul’s famous passage on the armor of
God, challenging and
encouraging Christ
followers to stand
strong in the Lord
and be His representatives to
share the Good News of the
Gospel: Ephesians 6:18a.
Whether you attend public school, private school, or
home school, you are invited
to gather your friends wherever and whenever and pray!
As of yet a student has not
stepped forward to organize
and promote the event this
year.

Lecrae has been shaking up the hip-hop genre for
the past few years with his
Christian based lyrics and
attitude. He is always looking for a way to step it up
and push his own and the
music worlds boundaries. His
previous album “Gravity” hit
#1 on multiple hip-hop charts
and won many awards in the
genre, but in recent interviews
he mentioned that “Gravity”
Page 8
wasn’t what he wanted it to
be. While I really enjoyed
Gravity I can understand
where he is coming from,
which made me even more
excited for his latest effort,
“Anomaly”.
“Anomaly”
means something that deviates from the norm, and
Lecrae definitely does that.
“Anomaly” opens up with
Outsiders; a slower track that
gave me instant chills once
the hook started. Lecrae kills
it with this intro and sets the
pace for the rest of the record.
Next up is the interesting
track “Welcome to America”.
It sounds a lot like a polished
version of old Lecrae, including the flow and repetition
of the chorus, but also contains the maturity of the new
Lecrae. The next 3 tracks
were all released previously
to the album as singles. “Say
I Wont” (feat. Andy Mineo)
has incredible rapping from
Lecrae and Andy in front of
a phenomenal beat. “Nuthin”
is a great radio song with a
crazy hook and chorus, and
“Fear” is a soulful, emotional
song with a chill atmosphere.
The title track is next and
definitely doesn’t disappoint.
“Anomaly” is hard hitting,
beautifully rapped and wonderfully produced. The lyrics
are a good commentary on
today’s culture and music,
“All this killin’ but where
the bodies at; All this money
but where the Bugattis at”,
and contains a great message
about how God made us to be
anomalies and not conform.
“Timepiece”,
“Dirty
Water”, and “Wish” are
all fantastic tracks, but on
first listen not big standouts. “Wish” has a radio
friendly chorus and impeccable rapping, “Dirty Water”
has a great message, and
“Timepiece” is really well
produced. After those
3 is one of my favorites, “Runner”. It has
a fantastic beat, some
funny voice acting,
background sounds
that fit in flawlessly, and a flow that
kills. “All I Need Is
You” is a great track
that while originally written as a love letter to his
wife, can also be relatable
to anyone. The next track
“Give In” is a radio anthem.
This song belongs on the
top of every chart possible.
The hook, beat, and verses
are all extremely well done
and would be great exposure
for Lecrae to preach to nonchristians. “Good, Bad, and
Ugly” is hands down the best
song Lecrae has ever done.
The lyrics tell an incredibly relatable story and the
singing brings chills through
your whole body. Everything
VR1: Jungle Fever

Borden, a teacher at Mid-Coast
Christian School in Toledo, has

in future POSTs, too!
She slowly crawled toward
the camp; her eyes watchful
for any movement. She half
crawled, half walked from
bush to bush, avoiding bright
spotlights and enemy eyes.
Moving from one bush to
another she kept a watchful
eye on the main gate growing closer with each step.
She finally reached the outer
wall. She stood there waiting for the guard to make his
rounds.
“Come on where is he?”
She thought to herself. She
didn’t have to wait long. A
loud click was heard as the
guard unlocked the small
door to the right of the gate.
He stepped out and turned to
close the door but was interrupted with a swift karate
chop to the back of the neck.
Before the guard slumped to
the ground, she caught him
and positioned him in a sit-
door to make sure no other
guards were around. Then she
dragged the body of the guard
to the nearest, and smallest,
ued to drag the body in. Once
her eyes fully adjusted to the
dim light, she scanned the
room. She judged the room

ting position beside the door.
She peeked through the
shed. She opened the door,
scanned the room and contin-
to be a supply shed. Tools
were hanging on the wall, ten
gallon drums in one corner, a
small generator in the other,
and various other tools and
supplies scattered on a workbench. She found rope and
proceeded to tie up her new
friend along with a gag for
his mouth.
As she peeked out the door
of the supply shed, she took a
survey of the compound. To
the left of her was the main
gate and another small shed
on the other side opposite
of her. The rest of the compound included five huts of
various sizes and one very
large one in the center, probably the commander’s hut.
The Intel stated that two
of the huts were for the
army’s men to bunk and one
was the mess tent, while
the remaining two were for
prisoners. These were the
smallest of all the other huts.
That is where she was heading next. She had to get to
him before it was too late.
Will she make it in time? Who
is she rescuing? Find out next
month in Jungle Fever.
KING DAVID REAPS WHAT HE SOWED
by Roger Roach,
Freedom Sharing Jesus
in this song is perfect, so
much so it even brought me
to tears. Just listen to it. I
could talk all day about the
final 2 songs “Broken” and
“Messengers”, but that would
take forever and I have a
word limit. Let’s just say that
the end of “Anomaly” is worthy of a Grammy by itself.
Listen to this album if you
have any desire for hip-hop or
even just fresh, new, hard-hitting Christian music. Lecrae
shows with “Anomaly” that
he is an anomaly and that we
are all also anomalies in the
eyes of God.
— INFERNO OUT
Roger Roach can be heard on the air at Winds of Praise Broadcasting / KWPB-LP
(see Programming Guide, page 12). Roger’s ministry is Freedom Sharing Jesus.
King David was the second
King of Judah and Israel. He
reined as King from 1002 BC
to 970 BC.
Before he was King, Saul
needed someone to fight
Goliath the giant Philistine so
David defeated Goliath, Saul
made David captain of his
army for this victory. David
became a great warrior and
Saul was jealous and want
him dead, Eventually Saul
because his jealousy lost a
battle and fell on his own
sword and died. His oldest
son Jonathan was also killed.
So we know that Saul lost
favor with God and he reaped
what he sowed. A lot of times
in our walk in God we get
angry or jealous and we will
try to hurt or harm someone
and we reap what we sow.
We open ourselves up for
trouble. If we do something
we now is wrong and we
have bad things come out of
it. It is because we purposed
in our heart’s to do wrong. If
we purpose in our hearts to
do wrong we open ourselves
up to reap what we sow just
like Saul. Now David chose
to sin also. While David was
King and he fell in love with
Bathsheba and had her husband killed. This made the
Lord very angry at David, the
Lord sent Nathan the prophet
to punished him, with three
things from the Lord. His
sword would never leave his
house, his wives would sleep
with other men and he would
loose his son. These and
other things happen to David,
because he decided to commit sin, so he reaped God’s
wrath. When we as God’s
chosen choose to take thing
into our own hands and don’t
trust God and seek revenge or
vengeance we open ourselves
up to reap what we sow. If we
chose to steal and get caught
its our fault not anyone else.
If we choose to do drugs and
get strung out we reap what
we sow. So we as Christians
need to start sowing good
seed so we can reap the blessing of God not the cursing
of the enemy. I purpose in
my heart to think about the
consequences of what could
happen before I take any kind
of actions in my life and I will
pray and ask God for his will
first then wait on him. Read

What’s happening in and
around Newport reaching out to
teens.
“Never stop praying, especially for others.” Ephesians
6:18a (CEV)
September marks the
restart of many of the youth
groups and outreach activities
associated with the beginning
of school. Newport Nazarene
Youth Group will kick-off
with a “Back to School Bash”
on Wednesday, September
17th from 6-7:30 pm at 227
NW 12th street. Call Andrew
at 541-265-6684 for more
details.
Although HangTime has
continued throughout the
summer, Saturday, September
13th marks an epic event
you won’t want to miss!
HangTime continues to offer
a safe, no-pressure environment to hangout with friends
for teens (13-19) at the House
of Refuge, 310A NW Gilbert
Way, Newport, from 7:30pmmidnight. Youth enjoy free
food, movies, games, and hot
tub. This will also be the only
HangTime event this month
(normally every two weeks).
Come celebrate the start of
the new school year by inviting as many new and old
friends as possible-a prize
for the person who brings
the most new people to join
the fun! Remember this is
OUTREACH…so teens who
know Christ should be inviting students who don’t yet
have a relationship with Jesus
Christ to come with them.
This will also be a potluck-so
tune up those culinary skills
and bring something to share.
Don’t like to cook, no problem…just come enjoy lots of
the usual fare-pizzas, snacks,
and sodas. If you have a birthday in September, let Carol
know so we can celebrate it
with friends at HangTime!!
Call or email Carol Walsh
for more info: 541-264-8393
or [email protected].
(The next HangTime will be
Saturday, October 4th)

See You At The Pole (SYATP)
has become a regular event in
our community. This student
led event encourages students to “ask the Lord how
prayer might change them,
their schools, their communities…their world. And then
do it. From the first year in
1990, See You At The Pole
has been about one simple
act-prayer. Today, SYATP is
still about students humbling
themselves, turning to God,
and interceding for their generation. Not just pray, but
seek His face, and turn from
sin. It’s not just a day. Global
Week of Student Prayer
September 21-27, 2014,
encourages students to find
new and unique ways, places,
and times to pray throughout
the week. At the center of the
week, on Wednesday,
September 24th students will meet at their
high school flag pole
for corporate prayer
and worship about
30-45 minutes before
their first class joining
other students around
the globe praying for
their school, friends,
families, churches,
and communities. This
year’s theme follows
Paul’s famous passage on the armor of
God, challenging and
encouraging Christ
followers to stand
strong in the Lord
and be His representatives to
share the Good News of the
Gospel: Ephesians 6:18a.
Whether you attend public school, private school, or
home school, you are invited
to gather your friends wherever and whenever and pray!
As of yet a student has not
stepped forward to organize
and promote the event this
year.

Lecrae has been shaking up the hip-hop genre for
the past few years with his
Christian based lyrics and
attitude. He is always looking for a way to step it up
and push his own and the
music worlds boundaries. His
previous album “Gravity” hit
#1 on multiple hip-hop charts
and won many awards in the
genre, but in recent interviews
he mentioned that “Gravity”
Page 8
wasn’t what he wanted it to
be. While I really enjoyed
Gravity I can understand
where he is coming from,
which made me even more
excited for his latest effort,
“Anomaly”.
“Anomaly”
means something that deviates from the norm, and
Lecrae definitely does that.
“Anomaly” opens up with
Outsiders; a slower track that
gave me instant chills once
the hook started. Lecrae kills
it with this intro and sets the
pace for the rest of the record.
Next up is the interesting
track “Welcome to America”.
It sounds a lot like a polished
version of old Lecrae, including the flow and repetition
of the chorus, but also contains the maturity of the new
Lecrae. The next 3 tracks
were all released previously
to the album as singles. “Say
I Wont” (feat. Andy Mineo)
has incredible rapping from
Lecrae and Andy in front of
a phenomenal beat. “Nuthin”
is a great radio song with a
crazy hook and chorus, and
“Fear” is a soulful, emotional
song with a chill atmosphere.
The title track is next and
definitely doesn’t disappoint.
“Anomaly” is hard hitting,
beautifully rapped and wonderfully produced. The lyrics
are a good commentary on
today’s culture and music,
“All this killin’ but where
the bodies at; All this money
but where the Bugattis at”,
and contains a great message
about how God made us to be
anomalies and not conform.
“Timepiece”,
“Dirty
Water”, and “Wish” are
all fantastic tracks, but on
first listen not big standouts. “Wish” has a radio
friendly chorus and impeccable rapping, “Dirty Water”
has a great message, and
“Timepiece” is really well
produced. After those
3 is one of my favorites, “Runner”. It has
a fantastic beat, some
funny voice acting,
background sounds
that fit in flawlessly, and a flow that
kills. “All I Need Is
You” is a great track
that while originally written as a love letter to his
wife, can also be relatable
to anyone. The next track
“Give In” is a radio anthem.
This song belongs on the
top of every chart possible.
The hook, beat, and verses
are all extremely well done
and would be great exposure
for Lecrae to preach to nonchristians. “Good, Bad, and
Ugly” is hands down the best
song Lecrae has ever done.
The lyrics tell an incredibly relatable story and the
singing brings chills through
your whole body. Everything

Editor’s note: Rebekah
Borden, a teacher at Mid-Coast
Christian School in Toledo, has
created a story for young people. Enjoy “VR1: Jungle Fever”.
Read the continuing adventures
in future POSTs, too!
She slowly crawled toward
the camp; her eyes watchful
for any movement. She half
crawled, half walked from
bush to bush, avoiding bright
spotlights and enemy eyes.
Moving from one bush to
another she kept a watchful
eye on the main gate growing closer with each step.
She finally reached the outer
wall. She stood there waiting for the guard to make his
rounds.
“Come on where is he?”
She thought to herself. She
didn’t have to wait long. A
loud click was heard as the
guard unlocked the small
door to the right of the gate.
He stepped out and turned to
close the door but was interrupted with a swift karate
chop to the back of the neck.
Before the guard slumped to
the ground, she caught him
and positioned him in a sit-
door to make sure no other
guards were around. Then she
dragged the body of the guard
to the nearest, and smallest,
ued to drag the body in. Once
her eyes fully adjusted to the
dim light, she scanned the
room. She judged the room

ting position beside the door.
She peeked through the
shed. She opened the door,
scanned the room and contin-
to be a supply shed. Tools
were hanging on the wall, ten
gallon drums in one corner, a
small generator in the other,
and various other tools and
supplies scattered on a workbench. She found rope and
proceeded to tie up her new
friend along with a gag for
his mouth.
As she peeked out the door
of the supply shed, she took a
survey of the compound. To
the left of her was the main
gate and another small shed
on the other side opposite
of her. The rest of the compound included five huts of
various sizes and one very
large one in the center, probably the commander’s hut.
The Intel stated that two
of the huts were for the
army’s men to bunk and one
was the mess tent, while
the remaining two were for
prisoners. These were the
smallest of all the other huts.
That is where she was heading next. She had to get to
him before it was too late.
Will she make it in time? Who
is she rescuing? Find out next
month in Jungle Fever.
KING DAVID REAPS WHAT HE SOWED
by Roger Roach,
Freedom Sharing Jesus
in this song is perfect, so
much so it even brought me
to tears. Just listen to it. I
could talk all day about the
final 2 songs “Broken” and
“Messengers”, but that would
take forever and I have a
word limit. Let’s just say that
the end of “Anomaly” is worthy of a Grammy by itself.
Listen to this album if you
have any desire for hip-hop or
even just fresh, new, hard-hitting Christian music. Lecrae
shows with “Anomaly” that
he is an anomaly and that we
are all also anomalies in the
eyes of God.
— INFERNO OUT
Roger Roach can be heard on the air at Winds of Praise Broadcasting / KWPB-LP
(see Programming Guide, page 12). Roger’s ministry is Freedom Sharing Jesus.
King David was the second
King of Judah and Israel. He
reined as King from 1002 BC
to 970 BC.
Before he was King, Saul
needed someone to fight
Goliath the giant Philistine so
David defeated Goliath, Saul
made David captain of his
army for this victory. David
became a great warrior and
Saul was jealous and want
him dead, Eventually Saul
because his jealousy lost a
battle and fell on his own
sword and died. His oldest
son Jonathan was also killed.
So we know that Saul lost
favor with God and he reaped
what he sowed. A lot of times
in our walk in God we get
angry or jealous and we will
try to hurt or harm someone
and we reap what we sow.
We open ourselves up for
trouble. If we do something
we now is wrong and we
have bad things come out of
it. It is because we purposed
in our heart’s to do wrong. If
we purpose in our hearts to
do wrong we open ourselves
up to reap what we sow just
like Saul. Now David chose
to sin also. While David was
King and he fell in love with
Bathsheba and had her husband killed. This made the
Lord very angry at David, the
Lord sent Nathan the prophet
to punished him, with three
things from the Lord. His
sword would never leave his
house, his wives would sleep
with other men and he would
loose his son. These and
other things happen to David,
because he decided to commit sin, so he reaped God’s
wrath. When we as God’s
chosen choose to take thing
into our own hands and don’t
trust God and seek revenge or
vengeance we open ourselves
up to reap what we sow. If we
chose to steal and get caught
its our fault not anyone else.
If we choose to do drugs and
get strung out we reap what
we sow. So we as Christians
need to start sowing good
seed so we can reap the blessing of God not the cursing
of the enemy. I purpose in
my heart to think about the
consequences of what could
happen before I take any kind
of actions in my life and I will
pray and ask God for his will
first then wait on him. Read

Looking Forward to Getting to Heaven - Mirando Adelante Llegar al Cielo
By Donna Popovich
Pastor, Worship and
Healing Center,
Lincoln City
I recently ran across an
encouraging message on reasons why heaven is going to
be FUN. Sharing this with
you is fun for me too.
Hace poco que me encontré un mensaje en rasones
porque el cielo va ser tiempo
de diversión. Me divierto en
compartír con ustedes tambien.
Have you looked forward
to a special day or time, vacation or a holiday? You find
yourself anxiously awaiting
the appointed time to arrive,
don’t you? Driving to the
airport is fun because you are
going somewhere, having a
check in your hand and going
to the bank is fun, going
to the doctor to hear your
baby’s heartbeat is fun.
¿Han esperado un día
o tiempo especial, como
vacaciónes o día de fiesta?
¿Esperan con anticipación
que llege el tiempo, verdad?
Manejando al aeropuerto es
diversión porque vas alguna
parte, teniendo un cheque
en la mano y ir al banco
es diversión, ir al medico a
oir el latido de tu bebe
es diversión.
But sometimes, there is
not much joy seen in our
eyes or heard in our voice.
Sometimes it is hard to keep
that bounce in our steps. We
need something to keep us
going, something to look
forward to, a hope that can
never perish, spoil or fade
away.
Pero a veces no hay gozo
en nuestros ojos o en nuestras voces. A veces es difícil
tener el animo en nuestros
pasados. Necesitamos algo
que nos da animo para segir,
algo que esperar, una esperanza que no se desaparece,
estropece o que no se desvanecer.
Those of us who have a
personal relationship with the
Lord Jesus Christ, know that
this world is not our home, we
are just passing through. We
are headed home, HEAVEN,
and it is going to be fun
Nosotros que tenemos
relación
personal
con
Jesucristo, sabemos que este
mundo no es nuestra casa,
nomas estamos pasando
por aqui. !Vamos a nuestro
hogar, al CIELO y nos vamos
a divertir!
Just think about these
points about getting to heaven:
Nomas piensen en estos
puntos del cielo:
1. We get a new body! Our
earthly body gets tired, feels
pain, gets sick, and with age,
moves slower, sags, our eyes
dim, and things fall out, like
hair and teeth. In heaven,
we get a new body, a better
one, an eternal one, one that
doesn’t get tired, feel pain,
get sick or fall.
1. ¡Recibemos un cuerpo
nuevo! Nuestro cuerpo de
este mundo se cansa, siente
dolor, se enferma, mueve mas
despacio, y con edad se cae,
nuestros ojos boran y cosas
se caen, como el pelo y los
dientes. En el cielo recibemos un cuerpo nuevo, uno
que no se cansa, siente dolor,
enferma, o cae.
2. We’ll get to live in a
custom made house! Yes, a
perfect house created by God
especially for us. No leaky
faucets, walls that need painting, roofs that need repair.
2. ¡Podemos vivir en casa
construida especialmente
para nosotros!
Si, casa perfecta, creada
especialmente por Dios. No
hay grifo que tiene fuga,
paredes que necesitan pintar o techos que necesitan
reparos.
3. We’ll get to eat deli-
cious food! Imagine eating
all our favorite foods, laid out
buffet style, with no waiting
lines and no check to pay.
3. ¡Podemos comer comida deliciosa! Imaginensen
comiendo toda nuestra comida favorita, como estilo buffet, sin lineas de esperar y
sin cheque para pagar.
4. We get to talk with
Bible characters! We’ll get
to ask David what it was
like to fight Goliath, Noah
what is was like building the
ark, Mary about being Jesus’
mom. Who are you looking
forward to talking to?
4. !Podemos hablar con
carácters de la Biblia!
Podemos preguntarle a
David que como fué peliar
con Goliat, a Noé que como
fué cuando construó el arco
o a Maria que como fue
ser la mama de Jesus. ¿Con
quien esperas hablar tu?
5. We’ll get to see and
speak with our loved ones!
I’m looking forward to talking with my family and
friends that have gone on
before me. And we will all be
kind and loving!
5. ¡Podemos ver y hablar
con nuestros queridos! Yo
espero hablar con mi familia y amigos que se fueron
antes de mi. !Y todos seremos
amables y amandonos!
6. We’ll get to live in a
perfect world! Heaven will
be a perfect place to live.
Creation which has suffered
because of the fall of man
will be restored for mankind.
Paradise will be regained.
6.
!Podemos vivir en
mundo perfecto! El cielo va
a ser el lugar perfecto. Toda
creación ha sufrido por la
caida de hombre. Paraiso
será recuperado.
7. Heaven is going to be
a place of the ‘’no mores!”
No more poverty, hunger,
thirst, scorching heat, freezing cold, crying pain, bad
guys, impure things.
7. !El cielo va ser lugar de
“no mas”! No mas probesa,
hambre, sed, calor de quemadura, frio glacial, dolor
lloroso, hombres malos,
cosas impuras.
8. When we get to heaven, it will be the last time
we fall! We live in a fallen
world. Do you find yourself
doing the things you don’t
want to do and not doing the
things that you want to do?
In heaven, we will fall for the
last time...we will fall to our
knees to worship at the feet
of God.
8. ¡Cuando llegamos al

cielo será la ultim ves que
nos caemos! Vivemos en
mundo caeido. ¿Te encuentras haciendo cosas que no
quieres hacer y no haciendo
las cosas que quieres? En
el cielo nos caemos por la
ultima ves...nos caemos a las
rodillas para alabar a los
pies de Dios.
9. In heaven, we will
take part in awesome worship! Don’t you love great
worship? Worship full of
energy, excitement, smiling
faces, lifted hearts and hands.
Worship in heaven is going
to be out of this world!
9. !En el cielo, particiemos en alabanza fabulosa!.
¿Amas a la alabanza llena de
alegría? Alabanza llena de
energia, emoción, caras sonriendo, manos y corazones
levantados. !La alabanza
del cielo será fuera de este
mundo!
10. We will get to see God!

have made a new friend.
...BUT, here I sit,
a “stay-at-home dog”. I
know I am a comfort to
Kelli, as she truly has
an empty nest now, with
both daughters out of
the household. (By the
way, don’t ask me about
the term “empty nest”....I
have never seen any of
my family fly or eat bird
seed...we will just leave it
at that...I think they need
to get out more. Guess
that is why they take
vacations). “...this is the
resting place, let
the weary rest;
...” (Isaiah 28:12)
and it calmed them immediately. The teachings of Biblical
principles are missing in today’s
schools. These are the principles that allow children to
learn how to better cope with
life’s difficulties. Katie Marks,
a ninth grader at MCCS states,
“At a Christian School you get
Bible teachings, Bible journal
writing, and prayer. God is the
center of education...”
No matter what parents are
looking for in a school, it is
important to weigh the pros and
cons of every available option.
There has never been a time in
history when it has been so vital
to consider the type of education that children are receiving. Curriculums are changing,
standards are evolving, and the
atmosphere in school is not
what it once was; let us consider what is best for our children’s future.

he should go: and when he is
old, he will not depart from it.

QUICK’S
As you read in Kelli’s
column, my family went
on vacation... WITHOUT
me.
But I was fed,
watered, and excercised
by a friend---even went
to the beach and the local
woods---so all is well....
...BUT I know that my
family would have benefited from having me
along on their trip. I
could’ve stretched out on
the three laps in the back
seat, and enjoyed all of
the car snacks, keeping
the area crumb-free. If
the A/C was too much
for somebody, I could’ve
kept them warm. I could
have listened for rattlers
in the Riggins area and
barked them away. And,
oh, if I had seen a bear.....
uh oh...hopefully, the bear
would have thought I was
one of them, and I would

“That’s not what our family
does.” These words were spoken by Ed Wheeler when he
and wife, Charla were raising
their kids. Ed is Worship Pastor
at Newport Naz, and Charla is
the pianist. The Wheeler’s four
offspring are living Christian
lives today, and serving the
Lord. I asked Charla, “Just
how do you raise committed
Christian kids in today’s semi
pagan society?” She graciously filled three pages with two
thousand words of thoughts
and remembrances. And I’m
supposed to condense them to
four hundred words! Sheesh!
I think the best paragraph
was about developing a philosophy. How preemptive!
How brilliant! To have a head
start deciding what kind of
people she wished to raise is
HUGE. Today the Wheelers
reap the benefits of that early
philosophy. “For I have no
greater joy than this, to hear
of my children walking in
the truth.” 3 John verse 4.
Charla began with the
firstborn cooing in the crib.
Reading that babies sleep
twenty hours per day, she
kept kid-one awake four
hours during the day so night
hours were only for sleeping.
She said for the most part it
worked (some say it doesn’t
always). Brave mother, this.
Just imagine the criticism
that aroused. Ditto when she
and Ed decided to homeschool their kids (she’d heard
the usual objections and did
it anyway). Today these “pitiable” kids have advanced
degrees, good jobs, serve the
Lord, are critical thinkers, and
are accomplished musicians!
Here’s
more
about
”Raising Christian Kids.”
Talk and Listen AKA
Discuss. When her kids
wanted to watch a TV show
about which she had misgivings, Charla agreed to allow
it, but she would also watch
it. During commercials, discussions ensued such as,
THANKS TO ALL
Dan LunDy
Dan Lundy,
Messenger Ministries
I would like to thank everyone who contributed time, effort,
skills, good, gifts, dollars, food,
etc., to the Heartbeat Of Creator
Potlatch. We had a great time.
Many people from many
tribes showed up here in Siletz
for the potlatch. As many of you
know, this potlatch (give-away)
started near Fairbanks, Alaska
in 2007. It was the Salmon
family’s way of honoring their
grandfather, Rev. Doctor David
Salmon for his leadership of
their tribe and their family.
Rita Eaglehead, a granddaughter of Dr. Salmon, was present at
the Siletz potlatch and played a
part in the festivities. She told
some of the history of her people.
She shared her heart with us.
Some of the ministry folks
who showed up were:
Battleaxe
Ministries—Rita
Eaglehead
Firestarter Ministries—Pat and
Gary Walker
Winds of Praise Broadcasting—
Scott and Kelli Albright
Soaring Eagle Ministries—Lura
and Gang
Sacred Ground Baptist Church—
Rick and Sherry Russell
Messenger Ministries—Dan and
LaRita Lundy
Drumspeaker to the Nations—
Jerry and Leslie Chapman
There were others. I apologize for not listing them but
my memory is a little slow
right now.
Perhaps I’m
not as young as I once was.
Jesus sent lots of help to this
gathering. People served as security, kitchen staff, administative
staff, set-up, tear-down, gift distribution and prayer. There was
prayer of intercession, healing
and peace.
In speaking for myself, I can
say that this gathering was gratifying and tiring. It was good.
It was historic, another first for
Sacred Ground and Messenger
Ministries.
LaRita and I will put our
concentration back on the
boat now. Hopefully we will
be going north soon. That
is up to our Creator Jesus to
decide for His timing is perfect.
To the Kosydar family, thank
you for the wonderful beef.
Many were fed. To Marvin
Reid, thank you for the salmon.
We loved every bite of it. To
all who gave and served, thank
you. The Lord has taken note of
your service to Him and to His
people. Blessings to all.
“What are they trying to
teach you here?” That didn’t
turn out to be so enjoyable,
so the show was given up.
Teamwork. Ed and Charla
agreed on major decisions.
Be Educated. Charla had
worked in a preschool, so children were no mystery. She also
read every Dr. James Dobson
book such as Dare to Discipline
and listened to his radio show,
“Focus on the Family.” She
read Dr. Raymond and Dorothy
Moore’s books like Home
Grown Kids. The Bible was
always a source of wisdom.
Accentuate the Positive,
Eliminate the Negative.
Remember that song from
the forties? That was Charla’s
manipulative genius regarding choices of friends. She
encouraged and invited friends
with positive values and influence, and closely monitored
relationships of the other kind.
Humility. They called upon
the Lord for His promised
help. The Wheeler four were
steeped in Bible truths, whether through home schooling
curriculum, church involvement, or family devotions.
“That’s what this family did,” Charla told me. A
fine template that worked.
Congratulations!
Stop in & visit
us for lunch.

Oregon where our youngest
ran in a 1/2 marathon. After
cheering with the crowds at
the finish line, it was on to
the mountains of Idaho for
more vacation time. I had
somehow tweaked my back a
week earlier, and so I was the
fussy one ---despite multiple
games of Madlibs--- stopping
to buy Tylenol and sometimes
needing help getting out of
the car, and using “icy-hot”
packs during the ride. I was
ready to relax!
Because of a late departure after the marathon and of
my aforementioned pain, we
changed plans and stayed at
Scott’s mom’s home; Miriam
was already with her daughters in the mountains. Oh,
the sweetness of Grandma’s
house. Though the hour was
late, Emily promptly set about
showing photos of family,
educating her new husband
about the clan. After sleep
and bowls of cold cereal the
next morning we headed for
McCall, ID. A boat ride on
Payette Lake was in store for
our family, which they loved
(I opted out, but happy to visit
in the spacious vacation home
of Scott’s little sister and
her husband). A homemade
gourmet barbeque followed...
ahhh, the life. After dark
we made our way to nearby
Camp Stover, Scott’s childhood church camp, where we
had arranged to spend a night.
The small, rickety bed was
amazingly comfortable, and
Scott and I slept wonderfully.
Scott later said it must have
been the quietness and peace
there. Tall pine trees and dusty
ground dotted with wildflowers; the rustic cabins; and
gurlgling Goose Creek make
up the setting. But it is not
just the beauty and memories
that makes old Camp Stover
special. To think of all the
prayers and worship that have
been offered there (since the
1920’s) and the ever-listening
ears and blessing of God....I
beleive that is all a part of it.
During our camp visit,
we stopped for coffee in
the home of the husband of
Scott’s cousin. It turned out
to be another rich time, listening to Gil’s testimony (a
lad originally from Colombia,
and living on his own in NY
as a teenager, and his conversion from Buddahism to
Christianity later). He and his
wife hope to bring a revitalizing of faith of sorts to the dear
campers and residents of the
area. We all joined in prayer

answer surprised and inspired
me. That day I clearly understood my calling. From that
day I have been consumed to
serve.
“Based on the gift you have
received, everyone should use
it to serve others, as good
managers of the varied grace
of God. If anyone speaks, his
speech should be like the oracles of God; if anyone serves
, his service should be from
the strength God provides, so
that in everything God may be
glorified through Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory and power
forever and ever. Amen.”
I Peter 4:10-11.
God has placed a consuming fire inside of us to serve
others. However, in this selfserving world in which we
live, it is too easy for us to
quench the fire with a “me
first” mentality. The Apostle
Paul daily crucified the flesh of
self service so that his burning
desire to serve others would
remain the forefront of his
mind. This passion to serve
must come from the heart of a
crucified self
I see serving God as serving
my wife, children, grand children, church, wrestling team,
or total stranger. I constantly
look for ways to serve others.
It truly is a consuming passion
in my life. It is the way God
has used me and taught me to
draw others into his kingdom.
The world will only know
the love of God by seeing how
we Christians love one another. In my passion to serve,
I’ve planted a sinner’s orchard,
chased a sinner’s boor hog
around a pen to get him into an
awaiting truck, babysat a sinner’s kids, managed a sinner’s
motel so he could take his
wife on a date, poured a sin-
ner’s drink, washed a sinner’s
dishes, built a sinner’s house,
fixed a sinner’s car, tied a sinner’s shoes, mowed a sinner’s
lawn, sat by a sinner’s bedside
as he took his last breath.
The Jesus our world will
see is the Jesus inside of us.
There is no greater joy than
the privilege of serving others
with the love of God. Let us
rise above our generation of
selfishness and become consumed with a passion to serve
others.

and a fresh perspective of
things--- and to find out what
God has for me next.

What is Winds of
Praise?
O
ur primary goal is
to encourage people to worship God,
in the name of Jesus
Christ, every day, 24
hours a day. We do this
primarily through the
broadcast of contemporary (modern) praise
and worship music. We
have live DJs at specific
times throughout the
day. We have time available for the rebroadcast
of local church sermons
and Bible teachings. We
are not from any one
denomination, but work
with many people from
many Christian denominations and groups.

During the day, for my
income, I work selling coffee
and cappucinno products to
various businesses throughout Lincoln County.
I was in a small store that
was busy with customers and
as I was cleaning the cappucinno machine, I was listening to the store owner interact
with the people. When the
group cleared, I told the merchant that I was impressed by
the way she treated her customers. She was polite, informative, helpful, and efficient.
She thanked me for noticing,
and then proceeded to tell me
that not all of her customers
were so nice.
There was an older man
who came in the other day,
she said, who wanted to rent

a crab pot. She started the
process and told the gentleman that there would be a $60
deposit for each crab ring.
The fellow began to get upset.
“$60? That’s rediculous”, he
says. “Why, I can go down
to the local box store and
buy one for $30.” The store
owner explained that these
crab rings were not the same
as the ones available through
the mentioned store, and that
if they lose one of these, they
have to pay $60 to replace
it. “Well, I’m not paying a
$60 deposit”, said he. And he
keeps it up.
“You know what”, says the
merchant...”these crab rings
are no longer for rent”.
“ What?” says the man?
“I no longer want to rent to
you”, she says. “These crab
rings are no longer for rent”.
Wait a minute, “I do want to
rent a crab pot”, he says. And
he calmed down, and his attitude suddenly changed.
And I thought to myself,
someday, it will be like this
for people who stubbornly
and consistently reject the
kindess and mercy and forgiveness of God. There will
be a day when it will be too
late. What a terrible day that
will be.
Please do not be one of the
stubborn ones. Don’t be so
proud in yourself that you
keep rejecting the Living God
who one day will judge all of
humankind.

I’m sure you know the facts.
