Posthumously, her first picture book has now been published. 5 With Vera time passes quickly Playing games, friendship Finley and Dolly are really bored and start fighting. They were so very sweet. They had a throne, a crown, a golden bed. Sometimes they’d start to laugh. All of a sudden. Their laugh wasn’t just any old laugh. But a genuine burst of laughter. Anyone who heard them would have no choice but to join in. They were special. Just that. A miracle. These two royal children. Look, the bird is singing, the first book of Bente Jonker and Moniek Peek, was esteemed highly. The text evoked compassion, the illustrations brought colour en brightness to the story of a little girl born deaf. Sweeter than sweet is a beautiful, poetic story that draws you into the fantasy world of two children with Down syndrome. Once again the poetic text and colourful illustrations will touch everyone and take you into a world that is different. 14 Sweeter than sweet Illustrator: Moniek Peek Author: Bente Jonker For age 4+ 21.5 x 28.7 cm 32 pages ISBN 978 90 5116 997 3 Price € 13,95 15 Saying goodbye in your own way Mourning, missing Everybody deals in another way with loss. Maybe sometimes it looks like others grieve less. At least, that is what Dog thinks, but if he listens and looks around he sees that the other animals on the farm also miss Farmer. The illustrations of Helen van Vliet make the grief of the animals almost tangible. Kristina Van Remoortel soothes it with her poetical text. In this way this topic becomes open to discussion for young children as well.
