Jakie znaczenie dla nas ma wydarzenie, które dziś
obchodzimy, czyli chrzest Jezusa w rzece Jordan? W
tajemnicy Bożego Narodzenia, patrząc na dziecię Jezus
wyrażaliśmy swoją wdzięczność za wcielenie, czyli za to, że
Bóg stał się człowiekiem. Dziś patrząc na tego „człowieka”
– Jezusa wychodzącego z rzeki Jordan, słyszymy, że On
jest prawdziwie Synem Bożym, w którym Bóg ma
upodobanie. Jezus jest prawdziwie Bogiem i
prawdziwie człowiekiem i poprzez nasz chrzest
czyni nas prawdziwie dziećmi Bożymi.
What is important for us in this event which
we celebrate today - Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River? In the mystery of Christmas, looking at
the child Jesus, we expressed our gratitude for the
Incarnation - that God became man. Today, looking at this
"man" - Jesus, coming out of the Jordan River, we hear that
he is truly the Son of God in which God is well pleased. Jesus
is truly God and truly man, and through our baptism makes us
truly children of God.

"Tyś jest mój Syn, tyś jest moja Córka
umiłowana, w Tobie mam upodobanie".
Chrzest sprawia, że przestajemy być sierotami
pogrążonymi w słabościach, lęku i grzechu. Jan
Chrzciciel mówił: "On chrzcić was będzie Duchem Świętym i ogniem". A więc ogień Bożej
miłości spalił w nas owego osieroconego przez
grzech człowieka, a chrzest Duchem Świętym
sprawia, że rzeczy niemożliwe stają się proste
i łatwe do wykonania. Jest bowiem z nami
Ojciec - Bóg, jest Pan Jezus. Odnosi się to
przede wszystkim, do tego jakimi jesteśmy
chrześcijanami.
W życiu każdego z nas bowiem zawsze
może pojawić się jakiś wątek negatywny. A
gdy jeszcze posłuchamy i popatrzymy na to co
się dzieje wokoło nas - a media sprzedają
nam najczęściej to co złe, smutne i pesymistyczne: tu katastrofa pociągu, samolotu, tam kogoś
napadli, zamordowali, tam ktoś kogoś molestuje, wykorzystuje, gwałci. Ten i ów kradną, bogacą się, a inni żyjąc uczciwie klepią biedę... i
depresja gotowa. Zaczynamy wtedy wpadać
w dół. A po co...? Ponad tą całą tandetą moralną, złem i pesymizmem stoi Bóg. Idźmy nad
nasz Jordan—Jordan naszej modlitwy, Mszy
Św. Nie jesteśmy przecież sierotami.
Jesteśmy KIMŚ!!! Nie bójmy się zainwestować w nasze chrześcijaństwo. Chrzest to wybranie, szczególne powołanie człowieka! Mój
dzień – wielki, a zapomniany, dzień wstąpienia do rodziny parafialnej, do wspólnoty Kościoła.
Chrzest św. złamał moją grzeszną miłość,
otworzył mi bramę do życia z Bogiem . Tu nie
chodzi o trochę wody wylanej na moja głowę,
ale o duchowe odrodzenie, wyjście z zaklętego kręgu skutków grzechu pierworodnego. Co
ja zrobiłem z moim chrześcijaństwem.... miałem
być prosty...biały jak lilia?! Co ja zrobiłem z
szatą Chrztu świętego mając 12,18,30 i więcej
lat?
Jak mało dziś wdzięczności Bogu i rodzicom
za ten wielki dzień! Jak mało w nas nie tylko
pamięci, wdzięczności, ale nawet odwagi
chrześcijańskiej do przyznania się do tego, kim
jestem! A przecież chcę kochać i być kochany
w Chrystusowym Królestwie!
“Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one
with whom I pleased, upon whom I have put my spirit;
He shall bring forth justice to the nations…”
Luke quotes Isaiah almost exactly, in order to point out
that Jesus is baptized as God’s servant-the servant of
Yahweh-baptized to go public, to serve the cause of justice until…His death. The Baptism Jesus receives from John
in the Jordan River is the outward sign of His investiture as
Messiah. The Messiah, therefore, is a servant, even unto
death. Everything, in Christ’s life points to the Paschal Mystery-His Passover from this world to the Father. Today, we
may reflect on a basic principle of Christian life: What
happened in Christ must happen to us. To live in Christ means we are not just spectators some quaint little showdown
by the Jordan. What this means for us is that we have been baptized in Christ, and therefore we have put on Christ.
Now, it is His life that lives in us. That means, that we have
died with Him---to sin, to unbelief, to isolation from others,
to selfishness and ultimately to security and even life on
earth.
These things can not make claims on us---we have died
to them. The real guarantee we have is the life of Jesus
Himself, and that meaning and power only to those who
believe. “If we have been baptized into Christ’s death,
scripture assures us, “we will also rise with him to newness
of life.” That is the grand guarantee of Baptism. Following
Jesus in his years of active ministry proceeded to Calvary
and to the glorious return to His Father. We too proceed
from our Baptism into Christ, through years of service.
“Doing good works “ that help liberate ourselves and
others from the grip of evil. That is possible because we
too have been anointed with the
Holy Spirit and power. It makes us members of Christ’s
Body. “God is with us, as we proceed to our Calvary and
to our glorious return to the Father. As we live with Jesus in
service now, He gives us the strength of His victory over
evil. With His life in us, we are confident that we will make
it through any suffering we have to face, and we will live
with Christ in glory forever. Our Baptism made us children
of the promise, children with whom the Father is well pleased. The Eucharist we celebrate confirms the Lord’s promise once again: “Those who eat My flesh and drink My
blood have life in me. I will raise them up”. To live in Christ
means we are not onlookers at some distant performance.
To live in Christ means---getting our feet wt, as it were, the
way Jesus did, down by the Jordan. And that was only the
beginning.
