Hello from the Communications Committee!
To all our fellow residents at Tip Top we are proud to
announce that after a couple of meetings, to do lists, and
reminders, the Tip Top Lofts Communications
Committee is now underway! We are going to do our best to
keep you updated on some topics we think will be of interest:
building projects and updates, neighbourhood happenings,
special events, and profiles and fun facts on some of our
building staff, board and committee members. Project One for us: a quarterly newsletter. This is our first
edition and will be distributed to each unit in hard copy format
as well as being available at the security desk. Going forward, we
hope to email a copy to all owners who provides an address to
Tip Top Property Management at the following email address:
[email protected].
Next up: a new website. Early plans are to keep this
simple! The landing page will provide some basic information
and images of our iconic building, and the next phase will allow
for resident login and access to private content. The website is
scheduled to go live in early July.

Also, as these projects develop, it looks like we could use some

Message from the President
Meet Denis Klurfeld, President, Board of Directors at Tip Top Lofts
Hello to all Tip Top Residents and Owners. On behalf of the
Board of Directors, I would like to welcome the
Communications Committee and acknowledge the hard work
and dedication of its members in creating this newsletter.
Over the next several months, we would like to tell you a
little more about what we do in the spirit of building a positive
community at Tip Top. The Board of Directors is committed to
serving the best interests of all the owners and engaging with
different members of our condominium community who work
closely in partnership with us.
The Board of Directors is always accessible and direct
communication from the owners/residents is the best way to
have your voice heard. We encourage you to reach out to us at
[email protected] should you have a desire to get
involved in the building or if you can think of a great cause you
would like to spearhead - we want to hear from you.
We wish you all a safe and wonderful summer season and
look forward to seeing you around the building. Enjoy

Denis has been an owner at Tip Top Lofts for the past 5 years and is passionate about making Tip Top the
greatest place to live. He has been on the Board of Directors for the past 3 years and is
currently the President. When not spearheading the Board, Denis can be found consulting away in the
financial district for a major bank. What do you like most about Tip Top Lofts? I absolutely adore the building. I really believe it is one
of the few urban sanctuaries left amid a forest of glass towers that stays true to its origins and adds charm
and character to the neighbourhood. The building has such a strong visual presence and impact for those
coming into the city from the west-end.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I love the cinema especially TIFF and other film
festivals, Toronto FC games and concerts.
Biking, rollerblading or running? Running.
Favourite holiday destination? Anywhere along the Pacific side of the Americas or the
Mediterranean. There are so many places to visit and I never go back to the same place.

Meet the Tip Top Staff: Shawn Mercer, Head Concierge
Shawn Mercer has led the concierge team at Tip Top for the past 7 years.
A native of NewfoundIand, Shawn is from a little fishing community on
the east coast of the island called “Little Hearts Ease”, with a population
of about 250 people. That explains Shawn’s warm and friendly nature
and his ability to treat everyone in the Tip Top community like family.
“Tip Top feels like home to me. The residents are wonderful—from the
mother that brings me a delicious rum cake to all those who smile and
say hello on their way out the door. The people are fantastic. I also learn
a lot from my colleague Mike Grecu who is the Property Manager here
and I continue to embrace the great opportunities that come my way. It’s
a fabulous building and I consider it my second home,” says Shawn.
His favourite hobby:
Detailing my car, I love a clean car. I also love camping and spending
time with my family.
His favourite food:
I really love all kinds of food but I would have to say that when I visit
Newfoundland I really enjoy a dish called fried cod tongues (yes, this is
the tongue of the cod fish) and fries with dressing and gravy (French fries
covered with a bread stuffing with savoury gravy).
Famous words…
“You can take the Newfoundlander
from the place I got my start, but
there's one thing they can never
take and that's the Newfie in my
heart.”

Room Redesign Survey
The Tip Top Lofts Board of Directors, welcomes all owners & residents to a survey
for the redesign of the Party Room amenities. This survey will be used as a fact
finding exercise to gather feedback from the Tip Top Lofts community. This will
help the Board of Directors establish a requirement document in order to submit a
request for proposal (RFP) for design options. We encourage everyone to participate
in the survey; the deadline for submission is by the end of day, August 30, 2014.

From children's toys to delicate works of art, model soldiers make up a diverse
field, as shown by the existence of the Ontario Model Soldier Society. The
organization holds its annual event, On Parade, at Historic Fort York for part of
a Saturday, with displays of thousands of model soldiers and more.

TIP TOP TAILORS building sign to light up
the sky…
Its a bird, its a plane…no its the Tip Top Tailors fiery red building sign
that will be lighting up the Toronto sky! The Board has successfully
negotiated to get our Tip Top Tailors sign lit by mid-August. Stay tuned
for more details but the plan is to have an official “lighting” party for all
residents and a few VIP’s to celebrate our iconic sign finally being brought
to life. Exciting times ahead…
