THE LAW
It’s a new year and we are starting it
off right by featuring seasonal beers
you can only get at Hofbräuhaus
Chicago. In January, all that glitters
is gold and black with the roasted
perfection of Dunkelgold. Its deep
black color and malty flavor will make
you resolve to come to our Haus all
month long.
February features Eiskalt Gehopfter
Hallodri. Unfiltered with Bavarian
mandarin hops, you’ll surely fall in love
with every sip.
All of our beers are made right on-site
at Chicago’s only German restaurant
with a microbrewery. Each ounce
is made in adherence to the strict
German Purity Law set forth by
Wilhelm IV, Duke of Bavaria in 1516.
This edict stated that only four simple
ingredients could be included in the
making of Germany’s brew: barley,
hops, water and yeast. Wilhelm was
so passionate about this decree, he
went so far as to declare draconian
penalties for anyone who continued
to add impurities like mushroom
spores and brushwood, stating
4 the “poisoned” barrel would be
“smashed on the ground and the
concoction will be publicly poured
in the alleys and the streams!”
At Hofbräuhaus Chicago, we like
to keep our beer where it belongs
— in our steins. We happily oblige
Wilhelm’s 400-year-old law and

Bavarian to the old-style power, these musicians present a program

The charming Zofie has brought her fabulous voice and Bavarian
style to Alpinos Showband to form Zofi Mit Jukebox. Now the group
is performing live in our Haus — don’t miss their impressive show,
every night of the week at Hofbräuhaus Chicago!

Every day Hofbräuhaus Chicago
serves authentic German cuisine to
hundreds of guests craving a taste of
Bavaria. On Sunday, November 3rd
we were proud to share our delicious
fare for a cause during the 22nd
Annual Holiday Meals on Wheels
Celebrity Chefs Brunch at the Drury
Lane Oakbrook Terrace. Chef Klaus
Lotter, along with many more of our
area’s best chefs and restaurants,
was on hand to dish up our famous
Beef Sauerbaten with Spätzle for this
very important cause.
The Meals on Wheels program
provides meals to seniors that
are unable to shop or cook for
themselves; however, the publicly
funded program can only provide
one hot meal a day, Monday through
Friday. The Holiday Meals on Wheels
program helps our at-risk seniors get
more of the nutrition they need when
they need it most.
This year’s theme was a Vegasinspired “Up the Ante to End Hunger”
and chefs, guests and supporters
rallied to the cause by raising over
$101,000 through silent and live
auctions and raffles. We are happy to
report that our Beef Sauerbaten with
Spätzle received rave reviews, and
we're even happier to have been able
to be a part of such a great event.

We can’t believe it’s been a year since
we opened the doors to Chicago’s
very first beer hall and microbrewery!
It’s been a whirlwind of celebrity keg
tappings, live entertainment, and good
‘ol Bavarian know how. We welcomed
our first Oktoberfest with the likes of
professional football player Patrick
Mannelly, shock jock Mancow and many
more of your favorite local personalities.
One of our guests held his own in
the fifth annual Masskrugstemmen
Championship in New York City, coming
in an impressive third; and members of
the Hofbräuhaus Chicago crew took to
the streets for a cause during the St.
Michael’s 2013 Oktoberfest 5k Run/Walk.
Every anniversary calls for
a celebration and we are no
