The long time Centerville- Fairmont neighborhood rivalry
was renewed last Friday night. The majority of the players on both
sides were not born the last time Fairmont defeated Centerville.
The Elks ran their win streak against the Firebirds to 17 straight
with a 53-21 victory.
The Elks gained back the momentum after they lost the ball
on a fumble on their very first offensive play. This turnover lead to
a quick 8-0 lead for the Firebirds. Centerville then went wild and
scored 29 unanswered points, including an electrifying 63 yard
kickoff return by Spencer Crisp. This secured the Elks 3rd win of
the season.
The young Elks defense played their best overall game of
the year forcing six turnovers and under 300 total net yards. Austin
Hanes intercepted two passes and ran one back 56 yards for a TD.
Colin Neace recovered three fumbles, forced one and recorded six
tackles. (With Colin’s three recoveries that may have been a single
game record).
The offensive machine continued to roll up the points with
53 lighting up the scoreboard. Quarterback Jacob Harrison ran for
two long touchdown scampers. One was for 56 yards and another
for 63 yards. He also added a 39 yard TD pass connecting with
Nate Richmond. Caleb Anthony and Spencer Crisp scored on short
TD runs each and Grant Tinnerman hit on a 25 yard field goal to
close the scoring.
The Elks hit the road tonight to face the always dangerous
Northmont Thunderbolts.

Inside the Headset
Last Friday night we had a great win against Fairmont as we set out on the journey to defend
our GWOC Central Championship. We capitalized on the Firebirds six turnovers as we put 53 up on
the scoreboard, the highest of the season. I cannot say enough about the effort of our kids. Our
young defense had its best game of the season and they continue to get better.
This week we march towards the GWOC title on the road at Northmont to take on the always
tough Thunderbolts. We must be solid in all areas, limit turnovers and have another great effort to be
successful. Thanks for all of your support, we sincerely appreciate it!
