How To Make Wiki/Tiki Torch Out of Recycled Glass
How To Make Wiki/Tiki Torch Out of Recycled Glass Wine,
Beer, Soda Bottles With Clever Wick Holder

Total Cost for Supplies: $8$9
Build Time: ½ hour
There are many DIY tutorials about this on the web, but I put a little spin to my method with the wick holder. I used to work for a winery and not surprisingly, I’ve got an abundant supply of wine bottles! It seemed like such a waste to just throw away all of those bottles…so this is what I did with them! I also had a few beer bottles on hand thanks to my roommates…I decided to leave the label on for all of you Coors Light fans! Tools

One Tiki replacement wick
3/4in x3/4in brass coupling for a PEX pipe (this serves as a clever wick holder)
1/2in copper cap
Two hex nuts (threaded for 3/8in16 thread rod)
4 or 5 inches of decorative chain
3/4in split ring hanger (threaded for 3/8in16 thread rod)
Two wood screws
Top plate connector (threaded for 3/8 in16 thread rod)
4 1/2in long, 3/8in diameter16 zinc plated threaded rod (I bought a 3ft rod and cut into 8
pieces)
10. Tiki torch fuel
11. Empty glass bottle
Important: Bottle opening sizes can vary so you may need to also purchase a 16mm flat washer to
make sure wick holder fits.
To see if you will need the washer or not, take the ¾ x ¾ coupling And place it right on top of the bottle opening If opening of bottle is too large for the coupling, place the 16mm flat washer between the bottle opening and the coupling Easy! Now slide tiki wick into wick holder leaving about ¼ 1/2in of the wick sticking out of top Fill bottle up to neck with Tiki torch fuel and let wick soak up the fuel before lighting! (I fill my bottles to the VERY top, right below the wick holder because I like a larger flame)

Now let’s put together the wall mount:
Screw the two hex nuts onto the two ends of the zinc rod
Screw the plate connector onto one end of the rod Screw ring hanger on other end of rod Now tighten everything up. Drill small hole in copper cap You can spray paint the color of your choice or just leave as is Wall mount is complete, time to hang everything! Screw on wall mount, attach bottle, and light! To save fuel in large wine bottles, fill bottom of bottle with water (a few inches below where bottom of wick sits inside bottle) Water sinks and oil floats so wick isn’t affected by the water! ;)
