The Walk of Fame recognizes individuals for outstanding athletic, cultural, academic or humanitarian achievements. Since 2008, there have been 10 individuals awarded this prestigious honor. ACTIVE LIVING TENNIS COURTS (Located on the Southwest corner of Jubilee Park) Jubilee Park has a three court lighted facility. Keys can be purchased at the Weyburn Leisure Centre for $25. This provides you access to the tennis courts any time, unless otherwise posted. A key can also be borrowed from the Weyburn Leisure Centre and used during Weyburn Leisure Centre hours. A driver’s license or $20 must be left with the Weyburn Leisure Centre cashier and will be returned once the tennis court keys are returned. Registration deadline is Monday, June 8. SKATE PARK (Located at the Weyburn Youth Centre 291 Coteau Avenue W) In 2005, the Weyburn Youth Centre, opened their Skateboard Park to the youth of Weyburn. This multi-use facility houses a variety of concrete ramps that can be used by skateboarders, roller bladers, and BMX bikers. 3 WEYBURN GOLF CLUB (Located Southeast of Weyburn) This 18-hole course has two distinct nines, with the front being longer with bigger greens and more bunkering, and the back having more trees, tighter fairways and smaller greens. Two different river systems and numerous ponds create plenty of obstacles around this par 72, 6515 yard layout. The back nine offers some great views of the surrounding countryside and even of the City of Weyburn. For more info visit www.weyburngolfclub.ca WEYBURN COMMUNITY DOG PARK (Located on Highway 13 / First Ave NW at Aylmer Street) The dog park provides just under 3 acres of off leash area where dogs can run and have fun! The park's perimeter is fenced with 8 foot page wire and large wooden corner posts. There are two separate areas, one for small dogs and one for the larger dogs. Canadian physical activity guidelines state: Children and youth should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity daily. Adults should accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity per week in bouts of 10 minutes or more. TRAIL MAP The picturesque trails throughout Weyburn include: 1.5 km trek along the wooded Souris Valley Trail •2 km loop along the beautiful Souris River on the Red Coat Trail 3 km long Silver Heights Trail that skirts the northern edge of Weyburn 3 km loop through the scenic Signal Hill Trail GEOCACHING Weyburn in motion has placed four geocaches throughout Weyburn. Go to www.geocaching.com to find the coordinates and head out on an adventure with the family to find these caches. If you require a GPS unit, you can borrow one of ours (see our Facebook page for lending location) or try using an app on your smartphone. Weyburn in motion geocache coordinates: Leisure Centre: N 49° 40.122 W 103° 50.893 This is a lock n lock container located near the Weyburn Leisure Centre just off Fifth Street N. While caching, stop in to check out what the Leisure Centre has to offer. The Leisure Centre consists of an indoor and an outdoor pool and offers a wide variety of programs and services for the whole family to enjoy. Stay active and have fun! Jubilee Park: N 49° 40.291 W 103° 50.537 This is a lock n lock container located in the beautiful Jubilee Park in the City's northeast. Jubilee Park was named to commemorate Saskatchewan's 75th birthday. The park is 16 hectares in size and hosts a variety of recreational opportunities such as tennis courts, baseball diamonds, sport fields, outdoor rink, trails and playground area. It also contains rest areas, picnic areas with fire pits and washroom facilities. This is a great place to come to engage in a wide variety of physical activity opportunities but be wary of muggles as this is one busy park. Burnwey Park: N 49° 39.943 W 103° 49.749 This is a lock n lock container located in Burnwey Park, located on Eaglesham Ave in the northeast part of the city. Burnwey Park is the home of Kinsmen Playground. All play structures/equipment have been recently replaced and the site is fully compliant with all C.S.A. standards. Over a hectare in size, Burnwey Park is irrigated and provides plenty of open space for all types of recreation and play. This is a great place to come and toss a ball or play on the playground equipment. Silver Heights Trail: N 49° 40.531 W 103° 49.843 This cache is a lock n lock container, located along the Silver Heights trail in the Northeastern part of the city. The trail is frequently used by people to be physically active so watch out for muggles. The Silver Heights trail is approximately 3km and is part of the Tatagwa Parkway Trail System. While on the Silver Heights trail, be sure to check out 'Flat Top Rock'. The indoor pool will be open until May 31, 2015 Weyburn Leisure Centre - Outdoor Pool (532 – 5th Street N) Our Junior Olympic sized outdoor pool is equipped with two diving boards, side by side speed water slide, tot pool and the Cenovus climbing wall. DON MITCHELL PADDLING POOL (Located between 12th & 14th Streets on Coteau Ave.) This pool is fun for the whole family and is located in a well-treed and irrigated green park space. During operational hours a supervisor is in attendance and washrooms available. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Washrooms are available for public use during the operations hours. It houses dump buckets, a rainbow of colors that spray, canon sprayers and numerous geysers. Open third week in May until the second week in September, weather permitting. The water will not turn on past 9:00 pm. JUMPSTART Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a national charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged kids participate in organized sport and recreation. The program will focus on sports, culture and recreation activities. The clinics are for ages 5 – 15. Beavers Baseball Training Program This summer Weyburn Beavers Coaches and Players will develop training session for players that want more in depth training on all aspects of pitching, hitting, fielding and base running. The training program is for ages 9 – 18. Session: Between 1 – 2 hours in length depending on size of group. We have morning and afternoon classes for both age groups. An experienced teacher and teacher's assistant will provide a wonderful early learning experience for your child. LEISURE GUIDE Recreation and Cultural Services provide a number of benefits to our community. These benefits help strengthen families, build healthy communities, improve the quality of life for Weyburn and area residents, provide the healthy development of children and provide leaders. To help promote the recreational and cultural services in the community, the City of Weyburn publishes two Leisure Guides annually. The Spring/Summer edition is released at the end of March and the Fall/Winter guide is released at the end of August to the public. The guide provides information on recreational and cultural activities provided in Weyburn by both the City and community associations. The City of Weyburn will be developing the Fall/Winter edition (September 1, 2015 – March 31, 2016) of the Leisure Service Guide this summer.
