Liberty Students Honor American Veterans In A Big Way!
Liberty students attended a Veteran’s Day assembly on Wednesday,
November 4th.
Veterans were
honored at the assembly. This was
the 12th year that Liberty hosted a
Veteran’s Day assembly, to honor
past and present servicemen from
all branches of service.
One of the guest speakers was Ms.
Sharon A. Buchanan, pictured to
the left. Ms. Buchanan served in
the United States Army. She has
dedicated her life to service even
after her full time service. She is
currently employed as a Veteran
Service Officer, at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The other speakers were Dr. Fleck, Superintendent of District 111, Mrs.
Campobasso, Assistant Principal
and Mr. Burns, P.E. Teacher.

Freedom. What does it mean? For years,
the word has been tossed and turned
around in our heads. We’ve spent weeks

country, mayors, senators, etc. Yet, we

still get confused about what it means to
us. As the years go by, and the students
grow up to be mature residents of the
U.S., we misuse the word. Our generation takes it out of context; we see it
differently than the original citizens of
America.
I have been raised to see that America
has brought us freedom. Not to only
itself, but to other countries as well. To
me, freedom is the word that this country
has been built upon. The word that people have been contemplating, for when
they wanted inspiration. To bring us
equality and give everyone a choice.
This word, gave us all a gift, it made us
all stand on the same level with each
other. Not any other word better describes what our forefathers have fought
for, what the nation has fought for, and
what every person in America has come
for or stayed for.
Freedom will forever ring in our home,
families, children , and lives. As long as
we don’t forget what life was like before
we will live in peace and not turn our
backs against each other. In hopes of
dreams coming true, the people of our
nation will forever remember this word
that has changed everyone’s lives in the
world. For the hopes, wishes, and
dreams this word will not ever be forgotten. Freedom has already changed thousands of lives and will continue to do so.
