They joined over 100 other rigs (of which 3 were from Florida). Frenchie took second place in ladder golf and first place in bean bag baseball. The Rally did not offer any organized card games . They did enjoy the nightly entertainment. Georgia Samboree September 10-13, 2015 Connie and Bob Homan and Lois and Tommie Crutchfield made their way to the Georgia National Fairground in Perry, GA to attend the Georgia Team' Samboree where the theme was Favorite Sports. Everyone seems to know Ralph Miller (from Camping World of Chattanooga RV Driving School) and how much he supports many of the Samboree’s cooking hot dogs. He could not make it to the Georgia Samboree so Connie and Bob Homan and Lois and Tommie Crutchfield jumped in and helped serve over 500 hot dogs! They also enjoyed the many events at the Samboree … never a dull moment in their lives. Tommy Crutchfield, Bob Homan Cooking hot dogs. Four rigs (Homan’s, Crutchfield’s, Chesnut’s and Blake’s) from Dogwood Good Sams attended the North Carolina Samboree at the Tom Johnson Rally Park in Marion, NC. They were enjoying the beautiful area until it started raining on Wednesday and continued to rain until their departure. They even had to turn their heaters ON. But they did not let that stop them from enjoying themselves, even though many activities were cancelled. Jacqueline and Larry Blake won at Samgo and a horse race and the group enjoyed playing several games of Joker and hand and foot and even Lois & Tommy Crutchfield, Bob Homan indulged in a couple line dancing classes. Learning to line dance. Page 3 of 4 South Carolina Samboree October 1-3, 2014 Three (Crutchfield’s, Homan’s, Chesnut’s) Dogwood Good Sams rigs risked the prediction of bad weather and traveled to Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC for the South Carolina Samboree, October 1-3, 2015. The weather was nice for the first few days, then it started to rain, and it rained some more, and continued to rain throughout the whole Samboree. Dogwood Good Sams Lois & Tommy Crutchfield, members endured the rain with winning door prizes, taking first place (Bob Homan Bob Homan and Tommy Crutchfield) in bean bad toss and Lois and Tommy will be going to the Mississippi Samboree for FREE! They also got in a few card games. Polly and Randy Chesnut did depart a little early with the Homan’s and Crutchfield’s holding out until Sunday morning. (Yes, they toughed it out Saturday night trying to sleep through 35 mph winds and heavy rain.) Knowing that I-95 was closed they were going to travel to Columbia and take I-20 … well part of that was also closed. So they had to take a different route and eventually getting on I-20, for an adventure of a lifetime. Everyone made it safely home with stories to tell. Chapter Campout – October 2-4, 2015 Dogwood Good Sams Chapter 142 traveled to Live Oak The Group enjoying the campfire. Landing RV Park in Freeport, FL for their October 2015 campout. Many members arrived on Thursday and relaxed and did their own thing for dinner. With the cooler weather the group enjoyed Jim Robert’s nightly campfires. There was 9 member rigs and 1 visitor rig. This was visitor, Charlotte and Lou Jones’ second campout with the Chapter. Larry and Jacqueline Blake, Theresa and Robert Malone and Carl and Joann Woodall had to cancel their reservation because of illnesses. Janet and Reed Files paid their dues and are now Chapter members, welcome to the Chapter. Peggy Lee also collected dues from all the rigs that were in attendance. She will collect dues again during the November campout. There was a great selection of Hors d’oeuvres Friday evening, no one went away hungry. Saturday’s cooler weather brought everyone out for the day. After the meeting many members went for bike rides, went to yard sales, shopped in the local area, fished, some played card Janet Files, Charlotte Jones, games and others just sat outside and enjoyed the Toni Merino, Lois Schlatter Toni Merino, Lorra Robert, Dottie Rance, Betty Cooper, campground surroundings. Carolyn and Roy Alsfeld went to Dianna Hughes, Lois Schlatter check out Florida Springs RV Resort & Campground in Bonifay, FL as a potential for a new campground for the Chapter. However, the owners are living in club house, so that campground is off our list. Also, the ladies gathered Saturday to put together 160 treat bags (each having at least 8 candies) for the USO. With the Sunshine Lady, Jacqueline Blake out sick, the group all signed a homemade Get Well card to send to her. Lois Crutchfield was not at the meeting, therefore no update was provided on the pricing of smaller chapter patches. Lorra Robert is continuing to work on the list of past members and their addresses. As soon as she has a more complete list she will be ready to start planning a past member Roy Alsfeld, Ken Schlatter, Dottie Rance, Lois Schlatter, Reed Files, Jim Robert, Dennis Cooper, Rex Hughes reunion. Lois and Ken Schlatter hosted an open Reed Files house for their new Winnebago Brave. The Hawaiian pot luck dinner Saturday was a huge success!! Thank you Betty Cooper and Janet Reed for filling in as hostess. Reed Files won the 50/50 drawing. Page 4 of 4
