13th International Vulcan Rally
13 International Vulcan Rally th Denmark Øster Hurup August 17th~20th 2017 INTERNATIONAL VULCAN RALLY 2017 VRA Denmark is the proud host of the 13th International Vulcan Rally, held from Thursday 17th – Sunday 20th of August, where old friendships will be renewed and new ones will be made. We’ll be chatting about the motorcycles, eating good food, drinking cold Danish beer and singing karaoke. And of course looking at all the beautiful bikes, that have one thing in common: Being Vulcans! The rally is held in Fruerlundparken on the seashore in Øster Hurup on the eastern coast of Northern Jutland in Denmark. The park consists of 15 ha. fenced area with scattered vegetation, two lakes, several buildings including a brand new toiletbuilding – and a large parking area. The park is entirely reserved for the rally. On the site can be set up caravans and tents. If you travel light, you can rent a caravan in the park – or cabins and rooms in close proximity to the park. In the center of the park there will be a big tent, where you can enjoy yourselves with good music, each others company and serving of original delicious Danish food. Thursday and Friday evening there will be live music in the tent – and naturally a bar! Saturday will be the main day of the rally with the traditional Ride Out. We’ll be riding our bikes through the beautiful Danish countryside, stopping along the way to enjoy the scenery. Well back at the park you may get lucky and win prices in our big Karaoke-contest! Here the presentation of nations, the best bike contest and drawing of the winners in the lottery will also take place. We look forward to seing you in Denmark in the summer of 2017! For more info: ØSTER HURUP There is no denying it: Øster Hurup is the holiday destination with the best beaches and biggest ice creams in Denmark! You get miles and miles of lovely sandy beaches, and within a 10-minute walk from the beach – in town or at the harbor – you will find all the shops, restaurants, pubs and cafees along with multiple events and activities all summer. This is all adding up to the special summer vacation feel – and it is only a 2 minute ride from Fruerlundparken – the place of the International Vulcan Rally 2017! LILLE VILDMOSE Go exploring in Lille Vildmose – a true Danish wilderness with impressive and untouched nature, a unique wildlife and a fascinating cultural history. Lille Vildmose is the largest protected land area in Denmark – 76 km2 – and it contains a natural wealth. Enjoy the silence, the smells, the wide open spaces and the fantastic flora and fauna, hiding in the marsh. Discover golden eagles, cranes, wild boar, red deer – and as the first place in Denmark you can experience moose! You can go to the bog and if you jump you will notice the shaky ground, giving in under you. In the nature center you can obtain maps, see beautiful nature films and look at the exhibition about the bog. HADSUND Hadsund was established as a trading post in 1854. The history can be relived in Hadsund District Collection at the old watermill farm Rosendal – in a beautiful setting with a pond and deer park. A visit can give a good understanding of how the area around the outer fjord evolved. ALS & ALS ODDE Als and Als Odde is a scenic area, that lies at the mouth of Mariager Fjord, where the fjord meets the Kattegat. In the Stone Age the area was hill islands, surrounded by the sea. Here, archaeologists have found the remains of 2000 year old houses. Als Church from the 1300s has for centuries been used as a navigational aid. From here you have a beautiful view of the Kattegat. KONGSDAL At Kongsdal you can relax after a nice ride in the area, enjoy your picnic basket or buy refreshments in the marina cafe. The distinctive red and white lighthouse was found at a scrap dealer. The lighthouse was restored and erected in 1989. In Hadsund you can also find Mill Historical Collection, which is Denmark’s only mill museum. The collection focuses on the old hydro, wind and animal-drawn mills. The town has a large selection of supermarkets, specialty stores and restaurants. DANIA & THE SWAN When driving along the south side of Mariager Fjord you should not miss out on a walk around the charming Dania. Here you’ll find the only place left in Denmark where we still obtain salt from the Danish underground. The salt factory Akzo Nobel obtains its raw materials in a salt dome west of Hobro where the salt naturally is located approximately 200 m below the surface of the earth. The factory produces 600.000 tons of salt every year. You can in the summer season also choose to sail with “paddle steamer” The Swan from Mariager and Hadsund to Dania. MARIAGER The towns biggest tourist attraction is Mariager Salt Center, which is located on the harbor. Here you can learn all about the history of salt and its use, visit an underground salt mine and test the waters carrying capacity, similar to The Dead Sea. A new attraction is Mariager Rose Garden. Experience 400 different variations of the beautiful rose in 800 plants. The garden covers more than 20.000 square feet, and is particularly beautiful where the roses bloom from May till the frost sets in. In the summer it is possible to take a trip by the Mariager–Handest Veteran Railway – a scenic tour of 15 km. The railway station is located on the harbor, and here you also find the “paddle steamer” The Swan, with daily sailing trips on Mariager Fjord. The harbor in Mariager is incidentally the meeting place for lots of bikers every day of the week during the summer. HOBRO & FYRKAT Deep in Mariager Fjord is Hobro. The city is best known for the unique viking fortress Fyrkat, that a thousand years ago was built a few kilometers west of the current city. Here is also Fyrkat Viking Centre, a reconstructed viking farm with lots of activities during the summer. At Hobro Harbor the new meet the old, as the area is a mix of history, atmosphere and culture. Sydkajen is the berthing place for the “paddle steamer” The Swan. Further along the harbor is the Gas Museum, which offers a unique experience. This is also where you will find the Maritime Cultural Center, a brand new attraction built around Hobro old shipyard. BRAMSLEV BAKKER The north side of Mariager Fjord is a true paradise for nature lovers. The hilly area from Hobro to Stinesminde further east is called Bramslev Bakker (Bramslev Hills). There is access to Bramslev Bakker from the town Valsgaard. Follow the road past the Hotel Bramslev to the parking lot at Restaurant Bramslev Bakker, where there is a unique view of Mariager Fjord. STINESMINDE The small fishing village Stinesminde is one of Mariager Fjord’s cultural gems. Here, time has virtually stood still for many years. The village Stinesminde consists today of 15-20 houses, dating from the mid-1800s. It is possible to drive all the way down to the beach to experience fishing or swimming in Mariager Fjord. Ex ce o ll e n t fo d Vulcan Riders Association Denmark is a club for ordinary family people from across the country plus a few from Sweden and the Faroe Islands. The only requirement for being an active member of the club is that you ride a Kawasaki Vulcan – age and model is not important. Co ld b eer We are 90 members of the club at the moment – and still growing... Lo The club was established in 2006 – in 2008 we became member of VROC International and in 2009 of International VRA. We have no clubhouse, but we meet for rides, events and rallies various places in Denmark and abroad.
