Encourage your students to read this summer – whether it be on a smartphone, tablet, desktop computer, or
a good old fashioned paper book. There are plenty of free resources online and in your local libraries. For
those students who do better listening to text, use your device’s text-to-speech option which can be found in
settings.
For iOS: Settings>General>Accessibility>Speech>Speak selection – Select text, tap and highlight
what you want read, tap speak.
Reading Programs:
MyON is offering a summer reading challenge for preschool through high school-aged students. Those who
meet the challenge could win an iPad mini. Students can read online on any web-enabled device. Download
up to 20 books at a time and read offline using free mobile apps. Here is the link, flyers can be downloaded.

This site offers teachers countless free resources for downloading and printing for students to use.
Vocabulary sheets and other graphic organizers are just a couple examples.
Tips & Tricks: Got broken crayons?
Recycle old crayons into easy grip drawing tools! Peel them and put the pieces in a greased muffin pan.
Bake at 275 degrees until the crayons have melted. Do NOT move the pan!! Turn off the oven and pull the
pan out AFTER it has thoroughly cooled. This will give you round crayon disks.
Friendly reminder from you’re AT department:

Flowing Wells High ROTC Student
Gets Scholar Athlete Honor.
Check out the article below about his accomplishments
ifrom Tucson News Now!
Flowing Wells senior rifleman Adam McClintock will be recognized later this
month by the State of Arizona as a 4A/5A AIA Scholar Athlete of the year for his
efforts in the classroom at Flowing Wells High School, and his success in the sport
of Air Rifle.
Adam lost both his parents in a tragic motorcycle accident the second day of his
freshman year at Flowing Wells. It took him that first year to deal with the loss
and refocus on life, his grades suffered tremendously.
At the urging of his uncle, Adam joined the Junior ROTC at Flowing Wells his
sophomore year and took up the Olympic sport of Air Rifle.
Adam has taken his new-found focus and used it to be a national contender in the
sport. Last year he was awarded his Distinguished Rifleman Badge (one of 800
issued worldwide). This year he won the regional championships, state, and the
Western States regional and is ranked in the top 3 in the Nation.
He has also become a young man dedicated to excellence in education.
McClintock transformed his first year GPA of below a 1.0 to a current 3.48. This
semester he has above a 4.0 GPA.
Next month he travels to Alabama to shoot in the U.S. Junior Olympic National
Championships. Late in July he has been invited (as one of 15 nationally ranked
shooters) to compete at the US Olympic Center, Colorado Springs, to compete for a
position on the US Olympic Developmental Team.
His ultimate goal is to make one of the two slots on a future Olympic team.
McClintock plans to attend the University of Arizona next fall and major in
Engineering
