SYNOPSIS
In an allegoric society, science searches for ways to counteract the aging of the human body. During the
search for the ‘fountain of youth’ something goes terribly wrong, a noxious gas escapes which instead
accelerates the aging process. To flee this catastrophe a massive evacuation is organised with airships. The
seats are limited and priority is given to people under thirty.
Dante and Irea, a young couple who try to save themselves, get separated during the embarkation. In a blind
panic the airship takes off without Dante. Irea, confused, thinks she has found her lover on the ship. When she
realises this delusion she hijacks the airship in search for Dante, with disastrous consequences.
TECHNIQUE
The combination of animation, green screen and film techniques make this production very complex. Although
the results may look filmic, the set up and the cinematography is rooted in an animation perspective. This
means that the usual methods are not used during the process of image creation.
Old classic movie ingredients are interwoven with contemporary film language and everything in the film is
artificially staged. The actors are overexposed and graphically highlighted. The environment consists of a collage
of moving images and digital manipulations. The same applies to the sound: the foley and sound design are
broken up by images of dialogue from silent movies.

DIRECTOR
BORIS SVERLOW (°1986) is a young Belgian-American film director based in
Antwerp.
In 2011 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK), Ghent,
with his animation short film “Shattered Past”. This movie depicts the story
of his great grand parents fleeing the turbulent Russian revolution of 1917.
Using old photographs, video and collage he created his own unique style.
This film received over 20 selections at prestigious festivals worldwide and
was awarded several prizes, among which the desirable VAF Wildcard at the
Leuven Short Film Festival 2011. This award included a grant that allowed
him to create his debut short film “Gerontophobia”, to appear soon.
In search of new ways to combine different film techniques, he aims to find
an aesthetic that feels contemporary yet grounded in old film tradition.
In recent years he created a one minute short “Bring Us the Key” for the
VAF Peace Project to commemorate The Great War (1914-1918) in Belgium,
which was shown on national television station Canvas and at international
film festivals worldwide.
He has also collaborated with the Martha Tentative theatre company and
the Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp for Dinska Bronska, a film and dance
performance on migration.
