2012 Design Home Buyer’s Guide
In addition to standard building materials, the
following products were provided by the
National Lumber Family of Companies.
Andersen Windows & Doors
National Lumber, an Andersen Circle of
Excellence Dealer, provided all of the Andersen
Windows and Doors in this home. Andersen's
wide variety of window and door options will
help make your home more comfortable and
more energy-efficient. The double-hung
windows used in this home offer the neat, trim
lines of colonial design with thin rails and stiles
to let in more light. Andersen’s TruScene®
insect screens enhance the view and brighten
the home with 50% more clarity than
conventional screens. They feature the strength
of stainless steel, providing both beauty and
durability, while providing a protective barrier
against the smallest of insects. With a wide
selection of windows, patio doors, and EMCO
storm doors, Andersen has numerous solutions
for builders and remodelers, as well as
homeowners looking for replacement windows
& doors. National Millwork, a division of
National Lumber, has Andersen experts to assist
you in finding just the right products for your
projects. Visit national-lumber.com/andersen or
www.national-millwork.com for more
information about Andersen products.
Cupola
National Lumber provided the building materials
for the cupola that in this case was constructed
by the builder, then National Lumber provided
the crane to hoist it into position. Reliable
Truss, a division of National Lumber, has the
ability to pre-fabricate elements such as cupolas,
dormers, porticos and more. Visit
reliabletruss.com for more information.
Custom Shop-Built Staircases
The craftsmen of National Millwork, a division
of National Lumber, provided the dramatic
interior staircases that were shop-built using a
superior construction method. These staircases
are squeak-free with tight joints for life and
have hidden fasteners for minimal nail holes.
Every staircase is backed by a 5-year warranty
against any defect in workmanship. The curved
main staircases in this home run from the
basement to the third floor with an open rail on
one side. They feature Red Oak treads with
painted skirts and risers, Red Oak pin-top
newels, over-the-post style Red Oak handrails
and painted balusters. The winded back
staircase is closed on both sides. There are 50
lineal feet of curved and straight balcony
balustrades. Visit national-millwork.com/stairs
for more information on our custom shop-built
staircases.
Engineered Floor System

stylish yet rugged fiberglass front door resists
the dents and dings from day-to-day traffic, and

Cedar Siding. It is kiln dried, ensuring consistent

that eliminate the need for housewrap or felt
forever. Simply install the panels, tape the

roof covering directly on top of ZIP System roof
and wall sheathing, but until you do, you’ll
