Principal - Allie Storti
Pinewood's New Principal
Effective July 1, Andrew Skinner will succeed Allie Storti who announced
earlier this spring she had decided to step down as principal at the end of this
school year.
Andrew brings 12 years of Mounds View Public Schools experience to
Pinewood. He is currently serving as dean of students at Edgewood Middle
School.
I know you will hear from Andrew in the coming weeks as he prepares his
transition to Pinewood. I hope you will join me in welcoming him to Pinewood.
Sincerely, Dan Hoverman, Superintendent Pinewood's Ongoing Instructional
Model
Reaching EVERY student
We are fortunate here at Pinewood to have ever-growing educational resources
to support individualized instruction for EVERY student. We continue to access
EVERY student's educational needs on a continual basis and to place, develop
and support your student as to make sure he/her is challenged educationally.
We are thankful for the resources, staffing and funding the district provides to
Pinewood to make sure all of these programs continue to flourish. The
Pinewood Staff takes great pride in making sure YOUR child is met and taught
exactly where he/she is at.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS - IRONDALE
KNIGHTS BASEBALL YOUTH DAY IS
SATURDAY (4/30) at 1PM! Congratulations
The Irondale drumline finished 7th place out of 59
groups in their class at the Drumline National
Championships this past week in Dayton, Ohio.
The 36 member group advanced twice during the
competition, placing 3rd and 6th respectively in
their first two performances. In their finals
performance, the drumline scored a season high
92.65, only .6 out of 4th place. 2016 marks the
3rd time in Irondale's history that the drumline
placed in the top 10 in the country, having placing
3rd in 2003 and 9th in 2012. The 2016 drumline's
show entitled "A Love of Thousands" was popular
among both fans and judges all season long.

The Spring Orchestra Concert/5th grade tour will take place on Friday,
May 13th. 5th Graders from Sunnyside and Pinewood will tour between
both buildings, and the 4th grade orchestra at each school will perform
at their home school. The concerts will be at 10:00 at Pinewood, 1:30 at
Sunnyside, and a final evening concert with all 4-5
grade orchestras from both schools for family and friends at 7pm at
Bethel College.
To Students in Grade 3:
Students who have finished grade 3 may learn to play a stringed instrument this summer. Orchestra is great fun and builds skills for a lifetime of enjoying music!
Save July 5 – August 4 on your family’s calendar.
Lessons are held Monday through Thursday (4 days per week) for one hour each day in the
morning between 7 a.m. and 2PM at Turtle Lake, Island Lake, Valentine Hills, Bel Air, Sunnyside, or
Pinewood Schools. Late afternoon/early evening lessons will take place between 3 and 8 p.m. at Chippewa or Irondale
Schools.
Our final concert is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3 at 6:30 PM at Irondale High School. A final
celebration is August 4 in the morning at Chippewa.
Beginning students may register for classes even if summer camp or family vacation occurs during
the same time frame. Beginners
(any student going into 4th or 5th grade who have not orchestra experience) register for lessons,
enroll in classes, and arrange to rent a violin, viola, or cello between 5:00 and 6:30 PM on the dates
listed below: Orchestra Registration Dates and Locations
