School Committee Question: What is the importance of SAT
scores, and what, if anything, can we do to improve them in
Natick?
• More colleges are becoming Test Optional and not placing as much weight on standardized
testing (www.fairtest.org).
• ACTs also provide students with an opportunity for standardized testing.
• NHS is a test center for both the SATs and ACTs (2x/year for each test)
• Our partnership with Kaplan offers:
1. Significantly discounted classes on campus year round during the school year and in the
summer off-site at local hotels in Natick.
2. Free PSAT, SAT, and ACT tests at NHS on Saturdays with a score report follow-up with
a Kaplan representative at NHS within a week of taking the test.
3. Free online prep for SAT and ACT
4. Kaplan offers free test prep classes for Natick METCO students in the Boston area.
5. Kaplan honors guidance counselors request for scholarships for eligible students.
• Natick maintains an updated list of outside tutors and test preparation programs in the area.
• This spring we are launching a NovaNET SAT Prep for students to take during the school day.
• Previous years’ SAT and ACT data results are shared with department heads.
