2014 Annual Report
Hattie Larlham’s legacy began with just one child
and a simple mission to provide comfort, joy
and achievement for people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. As we have expanded
our array of programs and services, our growth
remains firmly anchored in that legacy.
In the following pages, you will see your support’s
impact and discover the many ways you can
be a part of the Hattie Larlham community.
2
Gro
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities
are playing an increasingly important role in our
community. They are our neighbors, our coworkers and
our friends. Hattie Larlham grows and adapts to meet the
needs of the people we serve, fostering independence
and encouraging people with disabilities to be part of
the community.
The pediatric ventilator program embodies this vision at
the Center for Children with Disabilities. Children with
respiratory requirements receive around-the-clock care
and treatment. The program transitions these children
out of hospital care and prepares them for a safe and
successful return home.
3
Growing within the community, Hattie Larlham is creating
more work opportunities for adults with and without
intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Opening in 2016, Hattie’s Food Hub is our most recent
opportunity for people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities to join the community.
Employees of the food hub will receive more than just
work experience. They will play an integral role in
downtown Akron’s healthy eating movement.
Growth is a benchmark for progress. Grow with Hattie
Larlham and support new initiatives that encourage the
people we serve to be part of their community.
4
Learn
Learning new skills helps the people we serve reach their
full potential.
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
receiving work training learn the job skills they will need
to be successful in the restaurant industry, gardening, pet
care and customer service.
Constant Companions participants learn to nurture
domestic animals and interact with peers.
Hattie’s Preschool establishes an educational foundation
that lasts a lifetime.
With these and other programs, Hattie Larlham prepares
a generation of children and adults with intellectual and
developmental disabilities to live and work independently
in the community of their choice.
5
intellectual and developmental disabilities to express
themselves and participate in the world around them.
At the Center for Children with Disabilities, we create
opportunities for children and adults to experience and
celebrate meaningful moments in their lives. Earning a
new Girl Scout badge, crowning the prom king and queen
or receiving their high school diplomas are experiences
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
share with their typically developing peers.
In our community we create opportunities that encourage
creative expression and community involvement.
Hattie’s Creative Arts now provides art classes to
Constant Companions participants. This cross-program
opportunity connects artists with intellectual and
developmental disabilities to the community.
These opportunities and life experiences create a sense
of belonging and purpose for people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities.

What took a village now requires a community. Hattie
Larlham partners with like-minded organizations and
individuals to build opportunities for people with
intellectual and developmental disabilities to become
part of and contribute to their community.
Last year, Hattie Larlham and ADD (the Association for
the Developmentally Disabled) partnered to provide
services to nearly 3,000 children and adults with
disabilities.
Hattie Larlham partners with Fortune 500 companies,
other nonprofit groups and individual volunteers. Each
brings a unique perspective and resource to Hattie
Larlham’s mission.
We believe that comfort, joy and achievement should
extend beyond our programs and services. It should be
a community ideal for all of us to work toward.

Volunteer
9
Hattie Larlham is grateful to the volunteers who donate
their time, talent and resources to improve the lives of
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in
our community. This gift is invaluable and provides long
lasting memories and life experiences for the people
we serve.
In 2014, volunteers gave an estimated
4,450 total hours to Hattie Larlham.
3,363 service hours at the Hattie Larlham Center
for Children with Disabilities
638 service hours at Constant Companions
449 service hours given throughout the community
to support Hattie Larlham
We have made a commitment to provide the care and experience that
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities need to successfully
become part of the community. We appreciate the hard-working staff at
Hattie Larlham who dedicate their time to those we serve. However, fulfilling
our mission would be impossible without the community’s support.
We have come a long way from the Larlham farmhouse. It is no easy feat to
provide quality care, on-the-job experience and socialization opportunities
for more than 1,500 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We require a vast amount of resources, hard work and dedication to deliver
on Mrs. Larlham’s promise of comfort, joy and achievement.
It takes a commitment from each of us. Each donor, company, foundation
and organization listed on the following pages made a commitment to
improve the lives of those we serve. Your donations, time and resources
impact the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
throughout Northeast Ohio.
With your support and continued dedication, we will grow and explore new
initiatives to enhance the lives of the people we serve. We will provide the
opportunity for children and adults with disabilities to learn new skills. We
will create memories that would not be possible without Hattie Larlham. This
year, we encourage you to connect with Hattie Larlham. Let us continue our
partnership so that we can provide endless opportunities for people with
and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
On behalf of all of us at Hattie Larlham,
Dennis Allen
Hattie Larlham CEO
Michael J. Weinhardt
Hattie Larlham Board of Directors President

Your important contribution to Hattie Larlham improves the lives of people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities in our community. Thank you.
