Knights of Columbus Rosary in May
We invite you to join with your K of C
members as we pray the Rosary in
May. We will be praying at 7pm on
Mondays; May 16th and 23rd.
We welcome all in this month of Mary.
Questions of the Week
First Reading: Acts of the Apostles 2:1-11
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:3b-7, 12-13
Gospel Reading: John 20:19-23
1. Pentecost inspires us to see ourselves and others
the way God sees us, different yet one. How can
you speak differently this week by your actions?
2. Psalm 104 speaks: “Lord send out your spirit and
renew the face of the earth.” Are you open to the
Holy Spirit’s promptings, to lead you to “renew”
your life and become a part of world renewal?
3. “The living waters,” hope of an unseen truth, calls
us to trust and be at peace.
Baptism,
Confirmation and Eucharist imbue the soul with
graces beyond sight and sound. As a disciple,
how can you see better this week with the eyes of
faith when confronted with doubts and
difficulties?
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
Sunday, May 22 - 11:30 am Mass
As an opportunity for additional grace and healing, the
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered for
those who suffer from a chronic ailment, those who are
anticipating a hospital stay, and those who are acutely ill.
There are many examples in the Gospels where Jesus
extended his hands and prayed over those who came to
him sick in body or mind. In the Acts of the Apostles we
see that the first Christian communities also were called
upon to pray over individuals who were in need of
healing.
This Sacrament is offered during Mass so that the whole
Community present can pray with the Priest for those who
come forward. Come and receive the invitation of grace
and find peace in the midst of your pain and suffering.
For additional information, please contact Parish Center
at (630) 416-3325.

cleaner in working condition for our
newest guest. Her family just moved in
on April 16 but does not own a floor
vacuum.

call Frank Blood at (630) 548-2468 for pick up.
Thank you.
Do you have a special
rosary that needs minor repair?
Please bring your broken rosary to the Welcome
Desk and leave it in one of the special envelopes.
Someone will pick them up and return them in a
few weeks. Be sure to label the envelope with
your name, phone number/email and what needs
to be done to the rosary.
PLEASE NOTE:
•
•
This is intended for rosaries made with chain
(knotted rosaries cannot be repaired).
If there are missing beads, please attempt to locate
new matching beads first and include them. We can
replace any of broken or metal parts.

Fortnight for Freedom 2016:
Witnesses to Freedom
The martyrs give voice to what we already feel and they
declare what we would like to have the strength to
express.
~ Fides et Ratio
Once again the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is
calling upon the Faithful to pray and take action for
Religious Liberty during a special time called the
Fortnight for Freedom. This year's theme is the Witnesses
to Freedom and will look at the lives of more than 14
women and men of faith, from all over the world, who
bear witness to authentic freedom in Christ. The Fortnight
for Freedom will again take place from June 21, the vigil
of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More to
July 4, Independence Day.
The Fortnight for Freedom Opening Mass will be
celebrated by Archbishop William Lori on Tuesday, June
21 at 7:00 pm at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore,
Maryland. The Fortnight for Freedom Closing Mass will
be celebrated by Cardinal Wuerl on Monday, July 4 at
noon at Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate
Conception in Washington, D.C. Both Masses will be
televised nationwide on EWTN and the CatholicTV
Network.

Ministries of the Month
ENVIRONMENTAL MINISTRY
The focus of this ministry is a common-sense approach that balances environmental stewardship with the needs of
human development, particularly with respect to economic concerns and access to energy resources. Their efforts are
directed to the following: (1) routine programs that habitually minimize waste and encourage recycling; (2) special
projects that concentrate on environmental clean up; (3) informing parishioners of environmental issues. If you would
like more information about this important ministry please contact: Art or Jeanne Sheridan, Ministry Chairs at:
[email protected]
TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
Transitional Housing (Bridge Communities) is an outreach program designed to assist homeless families to
reach a state of independence and self-subsistence. While in the care of the Parish, the family is under the close
care and supervision of two to four trained mentors who act as the Parish’s support and training arm, preparing
parent(s) to get the job training skills or education necessary to find a level of employment which will allow
the family to become self-sufficient. If you would like more information about this important ministry please
