Greetings Streamwood residents, businesses and
prospective residents!
The Streamwood Chamber is not only a tool for
business, but for residents, students and visitors,
alike. It is our goal to strengthen the business
environment here by providing other opportunities
for the community. Everyone is encouraged to
ask any Director to guide you through the various
opportunities that await you and your business.
Everyone is serious about promoting their business
and we stand ready to assist you. The Streamwood
Chamber of Commerce is a 95% volunteer-run
organization with business people taking the leadership
roles, from the Board of Directors to the various
Committee Chairpersons. We feel that we are “The
Bulletin Board for Business.” And the best way to do
that is to be out there, spreading our members’ names,
products, information and why their services should
be chosen over the competitors. Build the community

What is the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce?
Formed in 1981 community business leaders the
Streamwood Chamber is a nonprofit business
association, sustained by volunteer efforts.
What is the make-up of our membership?
Our Chamber membership is made up of for-profit
firms in retail; commercial; industrial; corporate;
professional; home based businesses; service sectors;
nonprofit (charitable, philanthropic, fraternal) groups
and civic members (individuals who want to be
involved in the community without business ties).
Who can join the Chamber?
Membership is open to all who to do business in
Streamwood, this also includes businesses located
adjacent to Streamwood.
Who runs the Chamber?
The Streamwood Chamber of Commerce is run by the
members and answers only to its members. According
to the by-laws, the Chamber is governed by a board
of directors who establishes direction; sets policy and
determines activities. Directors are elected from and
by the members and all are volunteers. The directors
in turn elect a president, vice president, treasurer and
secretary. The day-to-day operation of the Chamber is
handled by an executive assistant.
What does the Chamber do?
The Chamber helps to make the community aware
of activities, services and businesses available in our
area. This is done in order to help stimulate the local
economy and enhance, support and promote the
prosperity of its members.
We do this by:
• Maintaining a staff to answer inquiries and send
out free information on business and community
information as well as acting as a resource to people
curious about the area.
• Helping to maintain and promote a positive
business environment image for the Village.
• Encouraging the public to use local products
and services.
• Creating business activities and opportunities.
• Nurturing new business members.
Who funds the activities of the Chamber?
The membership funds the Chamber with a
combination of dues and other income-producing
activities. The Chamber is not funded by any
municipal tax dollars.
What are the benefits of a Chamber Membership?
The Chamber has a unique combination of benefits
and opportunities available to its members to help
them succeed; especially new businesses and homebased businesses.
