CITGO Facts
Millions of gallons of quality fuel and lubricant products. Thousands of local jobs. Hundreds of
service hours logged. Daily involvement in local organizations. From the largest of economic
impacts to the smallest of good deeds, locally owned and operated CITGO locations are there at
every turn in their communities, fueling good day in and day out.
FACT: CITGO has a rich heritage as an enduring success story.
CITGO Petroleum Corporation has its roots in the Cities Service Company, founded in Bartlesville, Okla. Incorporated
in the State of Delaware, CITGO is headquartered in Houston, Texas. It operates three refineries in Lemont, Ill., Corpus
Christi, Texas, and Lake Charles, La., three lubricant blending plants in Cicero, Ill., Oklahoma City, Okla., and Atlanta, Ga.,
and approximately 50 terminal storage facilities. It also has access to approximately 140 additional terminal facilities.
FACT: CITGO strongly supports all CITGO retail locations with quality products.
CITGO is dedicated to producing quality products that are distributed to each locally owned and operated CITGO
gasoline and fast lube location.
FACT: The CITGO terminals and blending plants are an important and vital part of CITGO operations.
Millions of gallons of gasoline, diesel and lubricant products are distributed through the CITGO terminals and
blending plants annually, ensuring that product is available 365 days-a-year, no matter what the weather conditions.
These facilities play a central role in their communities, providing full-time jobs to local residents and supporting local
organizations. Their personnel also are involved in state and local emergency management programs to assist their
communities during emergency situations.
FACT: CITGO believes in fueling good.
As a corporation in 2011, we invested more than $75 million in contributions and thousands of dedicated volunteer
hours in social development efforts aimed to create sustainable communities across the United States. This includes
the CITGO-Venezuela Heating Oil Program, which distributes millions of gallons of heating oil to low-income families
each year and the Simón Bolívar Foundation, our charitable organization through which we participate in important
humanitarian initiatives, offering access to medical treatment for the critically ill and providing relief aid. Since 2009,
our Fueling Good program has awarded thousands of gallons of gas to charitable organizations that make a difference
in their communities. Thanks to our Marketers’ and Retailers’ commitment to the Muscular Dystrophy Association
(MDA), more than $140 million has been raised since 1986, making us MDA’s largest corporate sponsor. They also
participate in many local organizations and philanthropies, generously donating their time and money.
FACT: CITGO is committed to local communities.
Each CITGO gas station and fast lube is locally owned and operated. Local retail locations support their
communities with jobs and taxes as well as with a wide range of community and philanthropic activities. Visit
www.fuelinggood.com for more information.
FACT: Local CITGO retail locations support the local economy.
The approximately 6,000 locally owned and operated CITGO retail locations provide approximately 42,000 jobs to
hardworking Americans in their communities and generate local, state and federal taxes that support important
programs across the nation.
FACT: CITGO stations play an important role in disaster relief and preparedness.
To help ensure local communities have the support they need when natural disasters strike, CITGO provides fuel to
terminals right before and after hurricane strikes and delivers additional supplies to the locally owned and operated
CITGO stations on key evacuation routes. The company also works to ensure that emergency and government
vehicles have access to the fuel they need. Terminal employees engage in emergency response programs with state,
local and federal officials on a regular basis and coordinate specific response strategies whenever severe weather
strikes. Furthermore, CITGO provides 100 percent reimbursement to CITGO station operators for the purchase of
generators to ensure customers and emergency services receive fuel even if the power is out.
FACT: CITGO is more than just energy.
The people of CITGO have always known the importance of being a good neighbor. We don’t want to simply serve
communities,we want to strengthen them. That’s why we’re committed to providing fuel, lubricants and local jobs
that keep our neighborhoods moving ahead.
