Kelina “How did Caged Steel come about, who's
involved and what are your backgrounds?”
Jamie “I started Caged Steel fight gear in 2007. Back

Jamie “We work with our suppliers very closely to use
all the latest developments in materials etc. For
example the shorts are made out of a new twin weave
material that is very strong, but very soft against the
skin. Our Sharkskin rash vests are made from a duobreathe material that lets air in at the SAME time as
letting moisture out! A brand new material.”

we listened to groups like the Beastie Boys, Pete Rock
and CL Smooth, Biz Markie and more recent groups such
as Wu Tang Clan and the Roots. This music has played a
big part in our lives and continues to do so today. Throw
some Graffiti styles, Sneaker designs and artwork into
the mix - blend it up a little…and pour out...a cool
refreshing glass of Big Dogz Fightwear!”

produce our designs and we will only use the best! All
designs are created in house then we sub-contract the
production to various manufacturers who specialize

work – gloves, jackets etc, then we have a team who

everything and quickly identify any changes required for
the finished product. After final modifications are made
the items are then ready for public consumption! Our gi's
and shorts are embroidered, and rash guards created
with latest sublimation printing, which keeps them

Carl “Most of the designs so far have been based on
the Demon logo which we had designed by one of our
graphic designers. We are currently working on a lot of
new styles. There‟s Japanese and Tattoo styles on the
way soon. And we‟ve recently employed a fashion
graduate to help us branch out more into the fashion
side”.

Demon Fightwear is the latest UK MMA label on
the block. This South Shields based brand, run by
Carl Rannigan, Terry Mcdougal and Phil Dolphin,
already have an impressive selection of fightwear

Carl Rannigan to tell us more…
Kelina “Tell us about yourselves. What are your
backgrounds?”
Carl “Myself and Phil both work offshore on oil rigs
throughout the north sea, me as a scaffolding inspector
and Phil as an electrician. Terry works part time as civil
engineer and also as a personal trainer. While running
Demon Fightwear together in our spare time. Both myself
and Terry have been involved in MMA for over ten years
as both fans and competitors. Both of us have competed
in MMA in the past, me at an amateur level and Terry at
pro level with a perfect record of ten wins and no losses.
We don‟t compete anymore, due to work commitments,
but still like to train in MMA. Phil has not competed in
MMA but has been an avid fan for a number of years and
has trained in kung fu in the past”.
Kelina “What Are Demon Fightwear‟s greatest
achievements to date?”
Carl “To date we are the official sponsors of 2
northeast based events Total combat and the NFL
(Northern Fight League). We also have what we like to
call „Team Demon‟ which is made up of our sponsored
fighters Anth „The Terrier‟ Grecian Total combat
lightweight title holder, Gareth Jackson and O „Ice Box‟
Okunu are to name a few. All are up and coming local
fighters”.
Kelina “What does Demon have in store for
2010?”
Carl “We have already started on a women‟s range
with some new designs for t-shirts and hoodies. We
are also working on our new men‟s range of t-shirts,
shorts and hoodies. We‟re also working with a
consultant to develop 2 new and unique style of gloves
and shorts. These are expected in store by next
Christmas”.

family run company with over three generations of
experience in combat sports and Martial Arts. We

Pedley to find out more…
Kelina “How did Randori come about, who's
involved and what are your backgrounds?”
Keenan “Randori Fightwear came about from me and my
father's passion for Martial Arts. We wanted to produce a
quallity brand that meant something to REAL Martial
Artists. A subtle brand that could be worn casually that
was in-obtrusive. I have been involved in Martial Arts
since I was six years old. My Grandfather was a boxer
and prize fighter so I guess you could say combat sports
run in the blood. I started my training in traditional
Karate but the last few years have seen me move with
the times. I started to train in MMA and NO-GI
submission whilst still keeping my Karate training up.”
Kelina “Where does the name 'Randori' come
from?”
Keenan “Randori, a Japanese term that literally means
"chaos taking" or "grasping freedom" has many
interpretations within Martial Arts depending upon the
discipline practiced. When in combat, to "take the chaos"
thrown at you and to perform to the best of your ability
shows true warrior spirit.”

MARTIAL ARTS COMES BACK TO THE MIDLANDS!
Since the cancellation last year of what used to be the UK‟s only annual
martial arts show, Paul Clifton (Publisher of Combat, Fighters, Traditional
Karate, Taekwondo & Korean Magazines) has teamed with with Kwoklyn Wan
& Adam Jeffery (The Promoters of The Martial Arts Festival UK) to bring the
biggest Martial Arts Showcase the UK has ever seen!
Combining the abilities of the trio will result in the staging of a truely massive
annual martial arts showcase. One that will no doubt be a phenomenal event,
due to their motive of wanting to go back to the days when the overall
atmosphere of these events were enjoyment and pure fun!
“It‟s a partnership made in heaven” says Kwoklyn Wan. “With the combined
experience of Paul, his four magazines...together with his considerable
experience of staging huge events, the world of martial arts is set to have a
huge boost in 2010”.
“I cannot explain how exciting The Martial Arts Show is going to be.” added

The event, called The Martial Arts Show will take place over the weekend of
May 22nd-23rd 2010 and is expected to attract over 30,000 martial arts fans.

phenomenal martial arts stars (not to mention a large selection of TV & Film
celebrities) will be on hand to provide an amazing showcase for all to see,
offering everything from the truly amazing to the unbelievable!
