Spirit of Brush Award
The purpose of this program is to provide citizens
of Brush an opportunity to
honor businesses, groups
and individuals for improving the appearance of our
community. The Chamber
Design Committee is attempting to inspire community pride, raise public
awareness and promote civic responsibility in making
the City of Brush! clean,
friendly and attractive. A
simple one page application
form will be reviewed on its
merit and may be submitted
by a business or individual.
Once the application is approved by the Design Committee, recognition will be
given in the local newspa-
pers and by the Chamber. Please contact the
Brush Chamber’s Design
Committee or the Chamber Office for additional
information.
2013 Chamber Directory
The 2013 Chamber Directory is in the process of
being produced and will
be released for the first
time at the annual banquet. It is sixty pages of

“Save Our Sands” (SOS) Theatre
Sometime in 2013 all theatre movies will change from film to a digital format. Movies will be downloaded from the internet to digital projectors. This procedure will
cause theatres to spend about $75,000-$100,000 on each digital projector, which will
improve the quality of the movie. Many rural theatres will disappear. The Sands is a
landmark historical building and has operated over 75 years. The Brush Chamber is
forming a “Save Our Sands—SOS” Committee. If you are interested in more information and possibly joining the committee, please contact the Chamber.

Brush Chamber Bucks
The Brush Chamber of Commerce has Brush Chamber Bucks
available for purchase. The
Chamber Bucks are certificates
that can be used the same as cash
at any participating Brush Chamber business or merchant. It's a
great way to give a gift or bonus to
someone and the best benefit is
that our dollars stay in Brush.
They can be used to purchase
groceries, get a haircut, buy merchandise, pay your cell phone bill,
apply to your insurance and
countless other uses. They may
not be redeemed for cash.
The Brush School District, Eben
Ezer, East Morgan County Library
and the City of Brush have made
an investment in Brush businesses
of more than $25,000 by giving
their employees Brush Bucks.
Total Brush Buck sales in 2012
were approx. $27,000. The dollars spent in Brush will have a
value of 5-7 times that amount,
since the money is re-circulated
within the City. What a great
investment in our community!
Chamber Bucks are available at
the Brush Chamber office in any
denomination starting at $5.00.
Whether you want to give a special
child $5.00 or give someone else
$100, we can accommodate you.
Stop by at 218 Clayton or call the
Chamber Office at 842-2666 if
you want more information.

2012 Chamber/Main Street Evaluation
On Dec 11th a team from
the Colorado Main Street
Organization visited Brush
form 7am—2pm to see first
hand the operation of the
Chamber. About 2 months
ago the Brush Chamber
began a self evaluation that
included a 15 page document with supporting data.
The final project was a 1
inch loose leaf notebook.
The Chamber staff complet-
ed all forms and then the
entire packet was sub divided and each committee
evaluated their activities.

Streetscape Marshmallow Roasting
3rd Phase of Downtown Streetscape Completed
The 1st phase of the streetscape
was the 300 & 400 blocks of Edison Street which included new
sidewalks, pavers, curbing, lighting
and trees.
The 2nd phase was the 100 block
of Clayton Street which included
the sidewalk, pavers, trees, lights
and the street itself. The street was
lowered to be able to hold more
water in case of a severe storm. All
new infrastructure under the
street, such as storm water lines
(enlarged) and water lines were
replaced.
The 3rd phase of streetscape was
the 200 and 1/2 of the 300 block
of Clayton Street which was finished in November of 2012. A
Streetscape Open House was held
on Thursday, Dec 6th from 57:30pm. The 200 block was cordoned off and the stores stayed
open until 7:30. Many of the
businesses had free snacks and
drinks, there was story telling in
the Olde Tyme Country Store, the
Beaver Valley Voices and the Wes
Cable Family provided Christmas
music. There were 4 fire pits for
marshmallow roasting. About
300 people attended the grand
opening.
The 4th phase of streetscape,
drainage on Edmunds Street
from Cameron to a pond to be
built just beyond city limits on
the east side of town, will hopefully be completed in 2013.
Approving the streetscape of
downtown has been a goal for
some of us for over 30 years. It is
very exhilarating to see this finally
take place.
