POPA FCU is in the process of re-issuing all cards
as chip-enabled, because chip cards increase
security and minimize fraud for both you and your
Credit Union. EMV (Europay, MasterCard® and VISA®)
chip technology is becoming the global standard for
credit card and debit card payments.
Here are some of the features POPA’s new
MasterCard® debit card will have:
Security Features:
• Personal pin number – Good for all debit card type transactions
• CVV 3 digit code – Used mainly for online purposes
• EMV chip – Instead of swiping you will insert your card into the reader or what is known as “card dipping”.
Each time the card is used, a “one-off” unique transaction code is generated, making it more difficult for the card to
be counterfeited.
In addition to those security features, the following is now available in the event your card is compromised:
• Disable, block, or report your credit card and debit card lost or stolen via mobile banking, or the mobile app.
• Call 800-910-2824, option 2 to report your debit card lost or stolen.
