If you replace “football” with “music” you’ll have an idea of Sean Coray’s story. Throughout his tough upbringing in St. Louis Coray tenaciously refused to let circumstances break his spirit, but used them instead to strengthen his character and determination. In 2008, he took every last penny he had saved, bought his first guitar and began bringing his songs to life. Influenced by John Mayer, Gavin DeGraw, and legends like Herbie Hancock and Ray Charles, Coray’s sound is a sweet mesh of acoustic, jazz, rhythm & blues and soul. Last year, Sean released his first album and is on his way in the industry. Saturday, May 4 6:00pm – 7:30pm One Take One Take plays a diverse mix of acoustic music drawing on the soulful traditions of folk, bluegrass, reggae, jazz and blues. Their blend of styles appeals across age groups, and is for those who appreciate music that is both energetic and mellow. One Take was voted 2012 Best Folk Artist by the Riverfront Times. Saturday, May 4 8:00pm – 10:00pm Hazard to Ya Booty Hazard to Ya Booty was just another mid-level funk band trying to make it in St. Louis. Then something happened. During an open jam one night at practice they used an alchemy of funk, rock, and soul to create a groove so powerful, so profound, that the music itself became physical. The funk had so much stank on it that the room smelled funny, so the band laughed and dubbed this new music CRUNCH FUNK. Hazard has just completed work on a full-length crunch funk opus entitled The Precipice, which drops this spring. ✮ Find Your Way Around microfest ✮ Welcome Center Boulevard & Iron Barley VIP Experience Shock Top Music Stage VIP Experience Hill Cigars Food Ticket Sales Port-a-Potties Widmer Brothers Brewing Goose Island Tasting Tent Silent Auction Tasting Tent Crown Valley Brewing & Brewer’s Lounge Food Row Port-a-Potties Deschutes Brewery Goose Island Demo Tent Belgium Trio Shock Top Exit Trash WWW.HENDRICKSBBQ.COM Worm’s Way, STL Homebrew, St. Louis Wine and Beermaking ✮ International beers ✮ Ay i n g e r B r e w e ry: Ay i n g , G e r m a n y Brauerei Aying has a long-standing reputation for excellence in beer and hospitality. Commercial brewing started in 1811. Lambic, or spontaneously fermented beers, are the beers of this region and are among the world’s rarest: they are the only beers fermented via wild, airborne yeast - no yeast is added by the brewers. The unusual, demanding, and unique flavors that come from multiple yeast strains are unmatched in the world of beer. The aim of Stillwater Artisanal is to offer something new and intriguing; to present more than just a finely crafted beverage, but rather an occasion that evokes an emotion and inspires contemplation. For Brian Strumke, the gypsy-brewer mastermind behind Stillwater, art is not a sum of actions but rather an approach to life. In his own words, “we draw our inspiration from the world around us, whether that be a season, location, or even humanity itself. Our intent is to encapsulate this muse exhibiting an artistic rendition to the best of our abilities.” Armed with passion and without a true home, Stillwater Artisanal travels the world to collaborate with other ✮ North American Craft Beers ✮ continued like-minded artisans, blending innovation with time honored tradition to bring forth ales of unique character and deep complexity. Compared to most brewers, many Stone brews feature alcohol percentages that are well above average. The alcohol-by-volume content of Stone brews ranges from 4.4% to well over 11%. It is sometimes mistakenly believed to be a microbrewery, even though Summit’s output is in the top 50 of breweries in the United States, approximately 80,000 barrels of beer per year. The brewery was founded in 1986 by local brewer Mark Stutrud and a group of his friends in an old auto parts warehouse on St. Paul’s University Avenue. Their beers quickly became local favorites, and the company began to grow rapidly. By 1998, the company’s beer production had exceeded the capacity of the original University Avenue brewery, and a new brewery was built on the west end of St. Paul, overlooking the Mississippi River. • EPA • Oatmeal Stout • Saga • Firkin • Seasonal ✮ North American Craft Beers ✮ continued Ta l lg r ass B r e w i n g C o m pa n y Four Years and several months ago Jeff & Tricia Gill brought forth a new brewery, Tallgrass Brewing Company, conceived in Kansas and dedicated to the proposition that NO beers are created equal and all people deserve great-tasting craft beers. Jeff, a recovering geologist and an avid homebrewer realized he liked brewing beer more than he dug rocks, so with the help of his wife, friends and family, Tallgrass was born. In 2010 Tallgrass threw off the heavy burden of bottles and embraced the enlightened attitude of craft beer in cans. • Buffalo Sweat • Pub Ale • Ethos • Velvet Rooster • 8-Bit Pale Ale Trailhead Established in 1995, Trailhead Brewing Company is located in historic downtown St. Charles.
