I know I say this every time, but I am saying it again...since this magazine is printed quarterly, it gives you all time to send me detailed information about what is going on in and around your communities. I know I sound like a broken record, stuck on the same word, but the fact remains that I still need things like upcoming southern gospel concerts going on in your churches or communities, with accurate dates and times of the events. Along with that, I need contact information to verify that the information submitted is indeed correct. I also need things like Personal Testimonies, Praise Reports, Ads, Poems etc... The 3rd Quarter of 2015 is coming up next! Those months are July, August and September. These are the months that are loaded with Summer concerts and Festivals. If you are submitting anything at all, PLEASE make sure that you have the information sent to me by May 29. (Earlier is always better) Check out the "Contact Information and Pricing Section" on this page if you would like to submit an AD. Happy Mothers' Day, Happy Memorial Day and Happy Fathers' Day too!!! Many talented vocalists and musicians step onto concert stages across the country each week; however, only the faithful and dedicated overcome the pressures of life on the road to delight in the blessings that are reaped by the faithful servant. Ed O’Neal, whose name has been synonymous with Gospel Music for over 50 years, can certainly be labeled as one of the faithful and dedicated. O’Neal joined The Dixie Melody Boys in 1961 and became owner and manager of the quartet just a few years later. During the past five decades The Dixie Melody Boys, led by O’Neal have enjoyed tremendous success, including a Grammy nomination and numerous Fan Award nominations from The Singing News Magazine, Southern Gospel Music’s leading fan and trade publication. In the realm of personal achievement, a highlight of O’Neal’s career came in September of 2000 when he was named recipient of the Marvin Norcross Award, the highest honor presented at The Singing News Fan Awards Ceremony each year. He was presented this Award in recognition of his long-time service to his community, as well as the Southern Gospel Page 4 Music industry. Additionally, in October of 2004 he was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed each year to Gospel Music legends. Over the years, The Dixie Melody Boys have been featured on such popular television programs as The Ralph Emery Show and Primetime Country. They have appeared at Carowinds Theme Park, Six Flags Over Georgia and Dollywood Theme Park. Southern Gospel radio stations nationwide consistently fill the airwaves with the music of The Dixie Melody Boys. Throughout the past four decades, hit songs have flowed their way in bunches. In fact, they have enjoyed more than 20 Top 40 hits, including eight Top 10 releases. The thrill and excitement of performing experienced by each Dixie Melody Boy night after night is most evident at each concert. Their goal of delivering a first-class performance filled with excitement, energy and lots of great traditional, Southern Gospel Music are traits which have proven to play an essential role in the success they have enjoyed. These characteristics, united with their desire continued on page5 Keystone Quarterly Bass Singer, Will Lane, Returns to the Anchorman The Anchorman are thrilled to welcome bass singer, Will Lane, back to the quartet. Lane was part of the Anchorman in 2003, and then exited the group in 2006 to help launch another ministry. He is thrilled and the guys couldn't be happier to have him. He, along with tenor, Derrick Boyd (who recently joined the group), Jamie Caldwell (lead singer extraordinaire), and long-time solid baritone singer, Terry Carter, are excited about what's ahead for the Anchorman. Will Lane's first official appearance as the returning, outstanding, low down, bass singer for the group was on December 27, 2014 at Lithia Springs, GA. Dixie Melody Boys continued from page 4 to never compromise their responsibility to spread the Gospel through Southern Gospel Music in a Christ-like, professional manner have allowed The Dixie Melody Boys to firmly establish their place at the forefront of Southern Gospel Music. As the Dixie Melody Boys have found, the miles on the road may sometimes be long, but God continues to bless the hard work of His faithful servants, as He continually offers new excitement with each new endeavor. One would think that after 50 years, a group would grow complacent and rest on its laurels, but the current line-up of the Dixie Keystone Quarterly Baritone singer and MC for the Anchormen, Terry Carter, shares, "We couldn't be happier about what's happening with this quartet right now. As with so many of the events that take place on this journey of life, we see the HAND of GOD in every aspect of the recent additions to the group. He is an ON TIME God and this is a SPECIAL time for the Anchormen. Even when we experience change, we still hold to the UNCHANGING hand of Him who knows the plans HE has for us; plans to prosper us in HIM and to see LIVES touched through music and ministry. I'm not sure when we've ever had a better group of guys with strong talent and tremendous hearts for ministry. We are all just plain delighted about this season for the Anchormen." Group manager, Tim Bullins expresses, "What can I say? This is a good day for the Anchormen. My guys are ready to carry the hope of Christ everywhere God opens a door, an ear, or a heart." Melody Boys immediately disproves that theory. Still anchored by bass, Ed O' Neal, along with quartet veteran Josh Garner at lead and newcomers, Aaron Dishman and Doug Pittman, baritone and tenor respectively, today's Dixie Melody Boys are determined to continue their great legacy while breaking new ground in Southern Gospel music. With perhaps the strongest vocal combination the group has seen in its illustrious history, the Dixie Melody Boys strive to present the very best in quartet music to glorify the Savior and uplift the sinner and saint, alike. Page 5 S Steel City Trio teel City Trio's website states, "We are a band of men committed to bringing the message of 'Good News' through our music ministry by sharing uplifting songs that testify to how God's love can touch hearts and change lives forever." That commitment is the calling of this group based in Sutersville, Pennsylvania, and they've been fulfilling this calling for many years. The manager and tenor of this group is John Lawrenzi, who says, "I am known only by the nickname 'Legs'. My wife calls be 'Legs'. My mother and dad called me 'Legs'." So, perhaps we should call him "Legs" as we talk further with this most interesting singer. Legs tells us that for all of his life he had a stuttering problem, even flunking first grade because his teacher thought he was simply dumb. He didn't answer questions in class — not because he didn't know but because a simple "you" could turn into many "yous." But Legs loved to sing. In 1957, he joined a rock-and-roll group that sang at the famous "Porky Chadwick Hops" near Pittsburgh. Later he and a friend became "Dave and Legs" and even did TV work with some big names such as Marty Robbins, Duane Eddy, and Wayne Newton. In 1960, he met his wife, Marie, and they had two sons but soon, he says, "I became a town drunk. In 1972, I gave my heart to Jesus. I love Southern Gospel, and I love to sing. Page 6 As far as I am concerned, God took an old drunk and brought me from disgrace to His marvelous grace. Legs joined The Tribunes in 1973, changing the group name in 1980 to Steel City Quartet. In 2010, Legs was inducted into the Pennsylvania Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of fame, as a result of 41 years of singing, 23 recordings and more than 4,000 concerts. Legs recorded his most successful album in 1999. Titled The Fabulous Fifties Gospel, it was an unusual album of The Platters' famous hits from the 1950s sung with Gospel lyrics written by Legs. The past year was one of change as the quartet became Steel City Trio. Bass Glenn Crawford died after singing with the quartet for 20 years, and Tim Cousino retired after 26 years of singing. Ron Pry, former baritone of 22 years, rejoined the group after a two-year hiatus and sings the lead and baritone. He shares both of these parts with John Horak. Steel City Trio sings "because we love our Lord and Savior. Our prayer is to see lost souls come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and that our inspirational songs will bring joy, give encouragement, inspire the faithful, and touch lives wherever we go." Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! 2 Sing to the LORD; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. 3 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. 4 Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. 5 The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the LORD made the heavens! 6 Honor and majesty surround him; strength and beauty fill his sanctuary. 7 O nations of the world, recognize the LORD; recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong. 8 Give to the LORD the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his courts. 9 Worship the LORD in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him. 10 Tell all the nations, “The LORD reigns!” The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. He will judge all peoples fairly. 11 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! 12 Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise 13 before the LORD, for he is coming!
