Ira Stanphill Word Onesheet
Few songwriters of the 20th century contributed more to Gospel Music than Ira Stanphill. Born February 14, 1914 in Bellview, New Mexico, Stanphill began his ministry as a singing evangelist in the Assemblies of God denomination. He ultimately preached and sang the Gospel throughout the United States and in forty other nations. Along the way, his tremendous songwriting ability earned him an honored place in history. Among his 400+ Gospel compositions are "Mansion Over the Hilltop," "Room at the Cross," "Suppertime," "Follow Me" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow." His songs are mainstays in church hymnals and songbooks and have been recorded by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, LeAnn Rimes and countless Christian artists. Working with wife, Gloria, and daughters Cathy Cole and Judy Ragusin, producer Wayne Haun has assembled a diverse collection of artists whose lives have been impacted by the songs and life of Ira Forest Stanphill.
