Manrique is the man in charge of watching an abandoned salt minelocated in a recondite
place of the Colombian Caribbean. In his work he has found the perfect excuse to isolate
himself from a world that does not appeal to him anymore. Nevertheless, the unusual
appearance of a dog that likes to chase fireflies in the dark, and the unexpected arrival of
Valeria, a thirteen years old daughter whose existence he ignores, will allow this solitary
man an opportunity to recover the joy of being alive.

Miguel is a young fisherman married to Mariela, who is pregnant with their first son. But
he also has a secret affair with a male painter called Santiago. Santiago accidentally
drowns at sea, and his ghost returns to ask Miguel to find his body, in order to bury it with
their village's rituals. Miguel eventually finds Santiago's body, but does not tell his ghost.
Meanwhile, the villagers discover nude paintings of Miguel at Santiago's house, fueling a
rumour that he was having an affair. Mariela hears the rumours, confronts Miguel about
them, and goes to her mother's house. The body of Santiago appears in the nets of a
fishing boat. Miguel claims the body of Santiago. He takes the coffin of Santiago to sea, but
soon after the coffin glides into the sea and Miguel is in tears, the ghost of Santiago
reappears, caressing Miguel, who returns home alone.

Two sisters decide to embark on a trip to Tierra del Fuego, “the end of the world”, after
learning that the incurable illness of one of them has taken a bad turn. Enter Martin, a
homeless accordionist who becomes attracted to both of them, and the sisters' plans, as

In the tradition of O' Brother Where Art Thou and the Irish Waking Ned, and set in a
wonderfully photographic, South American environment comes this comedy. Hilarious
characters pulling together to make a dream come true, our hero's index finger is the
excuse that drives the villagers to discover a murder, turn around the election to the
town's mayor, renew their Christian's faith, build new love relationships. In other words
wake up the quiet Latin American town of Cerro Colorado. Who knows where these
people will get with the help of the magic finger?.

The film is a story about the incredible power of human imagination, which follows the
interwoven threads of 1982 Nobel Prize winner for Literature Gabriel García Márquez's
life and work – “Gabo” to all of Latin America – with the narrative tension of an
investigation. How did a boy from a backward town on the Caribbean coast become a
writer who won the hearts of millions, from the poorest to the most powerful? How did he
change our perception of reality with his work? The answer lies in the incredible story of
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the author of the globally-celebrated and critically-acclaimed
masterpiece One Hundred Years of Solitude. Having a great zest for life, he decided to
become a pioneer of life-affirming literature, and take part in the political struggles of the
70s and 80s, through his militant journalism and his friendship with political leaders such
as Fidel Castro and Bill Clinton.
