Valentine’s
Day
V ALENTINE ’ S D AY S ECTION 1
Heart Sachet
Materials:
Sports weight yarn in one color (baby yarn, lustersheen,
speed crosheen)
Size D or E hook
Two 6” pieces of tulle
2’ of 1/4” satin ribbon
Small amount of potpourri
Yarn needle
Make 2 of these hearts.
Using size crochet hook of your choice, ch 34; join with a sl st
to the first chain (being careful not to twist the chain.)
H EART S ACHET Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 2 more dc in the
same ch; dc in each of the next 6 chs, 2 dc in each of the next 8
chs, (yo, insert hook in the next ch and pull up a loop, yo and
pull through 2 loops on the hook) 5 times, yo and pull through
all 6 remaining loops on hook, 2 dc in each of the next 8 ch, dc
in each of the next 6 ch, 2 dc in the same ch as beginning ch 3;
join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, (ch 3, skip next
dc, sc in the next dc) 11 times, ch 3, skip next dc (insert hook

in the next st and pull up a loop) 3 times, yo and pull through
all 4 remaining loops on hook, (ch 3, skip next dc, sc in the
next dc) 11 times, ch 3, sc in the same st as first sc, ch 3, join
with a sl st to the first sc.
Round 3: (Sc, ch 3, sc) in the next ch 3 sp and in each ch 3 sp
around. Fasten off. weave in ends.
Finishing: Thread yarn needle with ribbon. Sandwich the
two pieces of tulle between the two crocheted pieces (wrong
sides together.) Starting at the top of the heart, weave the ribbon in and out of round 2 of both pieces, sewing through the
tulle. Leave a 2” opening at the end; stuff potpourri between
the layers of tulle; continue weaving opening closed. Tie ribbon in a bow and trim ends. Trim tulle close to the ribbon.

First lobe of heart
Row 20: Hdc decrease over the first 2 sts, (sc in the next dc,
dc in the next sc) 3 times, sc in the next dc, hdc decrease over
the last 2 sts; ch 1, turn, leaving remaining sts unworked. (9
sts)
Round 2: With wrong sides of hearts together and matching,
sc through each sc of both hearts to join. (61 sc) Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Row 21: Hdc decrease over the first 2 sts, (sc in the next dc,
dc in the next sc) 2 times, sc in the next dc, hdc decrease over
the last 2 sts; ch 1, turn. (7 sts)
Round 3: Using size F hook, attach CC with a sc in the sc at
the bottom point of the heart, (ch 2, sc in the next sc) 29
times, skip next sc, sc in the next sc, ch 15 for hanging loop, sc
in the next sc, skip next sc, (sc in the next sc, ch 2) 29 times;
join with a sl st to the first sc.
Row 22: Hdc decrease over the first 2 sts, sc in the next dc,
dc in the next sc, sc in the next dc, hdc decrease over the last 2
sts. (5 sts) Fasten off. Weave in end.
Second lobe of heart
To work row 20 of the second lobe of the heart, attach yarn
with a sl st to the last WORKED st on row 19, ch 1, hdc decrease over the SAME st and the next st; (sc in the next dc, dc
in the next sc) 3 times, sc in the next dc, hdc decrease over the
last 2 sts; ch 1 turn. (9 sts) Work rows 21 and 22 the same as
the first lobe.
Edging
Round 1: Using size G hook, attach MC with a sc in the bottom point of the heart, work 22 sc along the side of the heart
Round 4: (Sl st in the next ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in the same ch 2
sp) 29 times, skip next sc, sl st in the next sc, sl st in each of
the 15 chs of the hanging loop, sl st in the next sc, skip the
next sc, (sl st in the next ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in the same ch 2 sp)
29 times; join with a sl st to the first sl st. Fasten off. Weave in
ends.
Hot Pad Instructions
Work as for potholder, substituting a size G hook for the size F
hook, and a size H hook for the size G hook, and eliminating
the ch 15 for the hanging loop in the edging.

Dishcloth Instructions
Make only one heart. Work as for potholder, substituting a
size H hook for the size F hook, and a size I hook for the size G
hook. Skip round 2 of the edging, and and eliminate the ch 15
for the hanging loop in round 3 of the edging.

Valentine Coaster
Materials:
Worsted weight cotton yarn in 2 valentine colors
Size G hook
Make 2 of these hearts.
Using the darker color of yarn and size G hook , ch 34; join
with a sl st to the first chain (being careful not to twist the
chain.)
V ALENTINE C OASTER Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 2 more dc in the
same ch; dc in each of the next 6 chs, 2 dc in each of the next 8
chs, (yo, insert hook in the next ch and pull up a loop, yo and
pull through 2 loops on the hook) 5 times, yo and pull through
all 6 remaining loops on hook, 2 dc in each of the next 8 ch, dc

Valentine Swag Fridgie
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (color A = red or pink, color B =
white) Crochet hook size G (smaller if you crochet loose)
6 small heart ornaments or charms
2 yds. 1/4” white ribbon
Magnetic tape
Hot glue
Finished size when stretched out: about 18”
With color A, ch 74.
V ALENTINE S WAG F RIDGIE
Row 1: Insert hook in first ch and draw up a loop, (insert
hook in next ch and draw up a loop) 2 times, yo and pull
through all 4 remaining loops on hook, *sc in the next ch, 2
hdc in the next ch, (2 dc in the next ch) 3 times, 2 hdc in the
next ch, sc in the next ch, (insert hook in next ch and draw up
a loop) 2 times, yo and pull through all 4 remaining loops on
hook.* repeat from * to * 6 times. Fasten off color A.

Row 2: With right side facing you, attach color B with a sl st
to the first st, *(ch 1, sl st in the next st) 10 times, sl st in each
of the next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * 5 times, ch 1, sl st in the
next st) 10 times; fasten off color B. Weave in ends.

Finishing: Tie the ribbon into 8 small bows. Glue each bow
to a “bump” above the decrease stitches as shown in the picture. Attach each of the 6 charms behind the center 6 bows
with thread, leaving enough thread for the charms to dangle
slightly. Cut 8 small pieces of the magnetic strip. Glue a small
piece of magnetic strip behind each bow.
